...of our weekly shopping at Asda and whilst we do prepare and cook most of our own meals we do treat ourselves from time to time too ! Asda have two great deli counters that we visit each week ... one that sells the freshly prepared Chinese/Indian Takeaway Meals and the other where you can Create Your Own Pizza. Your first task is to choose which base you would like form the choices listed below ...
1) Thin Crust (10 inch & 14 inch) 2) Stone Baked (10 inch & 14 inch) 3) Deep Pan (10 inch & 14 inch) 4) Stuffed Crust (10 inch only)
The great thing about the bases themselves is the fact that are prepared and baked in the actual store (as part of the Asda Bakery). Therefore, not only ...

...pizza' section of my local Asda and my nephew pretty much declared that we NEEDED to buy one at once. He stood mesmerised by the lady behind the counter who was creating these pizzas, he was fascinated with what she was doing and so I couldn't help but agree to his request. I thought it would be a nice treat for him and I also quite fancied one as they looked appealing!

Basically ceate your own pizza is exactly as it sounds! ... ...head out to your local Asda to try a pizza like this I would recommend you be prepared to queue but even then I do think it is well worth the wait! I won't be going back to Asda to have one of these pizzas very often as I quite like the fact that it is a treat and a rare event so that I appreciate it more!
Since I have had this pizza though I have found myself telling people about it and telling them to check it out! I am now more of a pizza fan ...

Advantages: Excellent value for money, great taste! Easy to cook, delicious to eat! Disadvantages: None!!
...Sometimes you go into your Asda and look for a pizza, but they just never satisfy everybody in the family. There will always be someone who doesn't want onion, or doesn't want pineapple, or who doesn't like meat. Some may think the only other option is to buy the (very!) expensive Dominoes pizzas where you can choose your own toppings, these cost almost £8 for a simple cheese and tomato pizza at 13.5inch, this is for a regular pizza base, and simple ... ...while*.
The pizzas from Asda taste just as good, if not better than Domino’s and Pizza Hut, as you can cook them for as long as you wish, if you like your Pizzas crunchy (how I do!), you can leave it in for an extra 5 minutes whilst I find Domino’s pizzas very soggy and the bottoms seem very wet, which I can’t stand. With these Asda pizzas you don’t get this unless you cook it like this yourself (in which case you have nobody to blame but yourself!!). ...

=== INTRODUCTION ===
Did you know that the word “pizza" comes from the Latin word pinsa, meaning flatbread?
Or that early Greeks called the early pizza ‘plankuntos’ and it was basically used as an edible plate when eating stews or thick broth.
Or that it was only after the introduction of tomatoes to Italian cuisine in the 18th and early 19th centuries finally gave us the true modern Italian pizza.
Whatever it’s ... ...trolley around a packed Lancaster Asda store, a quick flight into Milan isn’t always that feasible so a passable alternative (let’s face it which would YOU prefer) is to create your own pizza at the Pizza counter at Asda.
=== THE PIZZA COUNTER ===
Every Asda that I have visited the Create Your Own Pizza Counter has been situated at the rear of the store close to the deli and cooked chicken counters.
There are always several ‘ready made’ pizzas ...

Advantages: great choice, cheaper than a takeaway. Disadvantages: Long wait, slow service.
As a family we believe in home cooking and generally steer clear of "ready meals" However when it comes to my Girly nights in we almost always grab a couple of Asda's Create your own pizzas from the deli counter. You may have to wait for ages to be served as the station is not very well staffed ( or at least not at my local ASDA) but once you get there you'll find there is a lot of choice.
They have their "Extra Special" range or the standard range.
... ...be honest I wouldn't call it Special so we now stick with the standard one.
BASES
The Standad range has a choise of bases - Deep pan - Thin and Crispy - Stone baked - and Stuffed Crust I have not tried the Stuffed crust which personally does not appeal to me greatly but have tried the other 3. I generally choose the Stone baked or thin and crispy which have a more traditional taste and texture. I must say that as an Italian family the first time ...

Everyone loves pizza...or at least should do! Easy to prepare and can constitute a full meal. Heck, even depending on the ingredients you can get one or two of your five a day...kind of! Well here are Asda's very own Create Your Own Pizzas. In every decent sized Asda, which the majority are, you'll find a Create Your Own Pizza point near the Deli counter where you can whip these things up. Often there'll be a queue, as they're just so popular, and ... ...pick a size between 10, 12 and 14-inch bases, and the type of base - stone baked, thin and crispy, deep pan, and stuffed crust for the largest size base. Then the fun really begins... The vendor will ask if you want traditional tomato sauce on the base or a barbeque option, then they'll add cheese. Then normally you can pick 4 types of topping and then they'll add yet more cheese. Of course, you can have as many toppings as you really like but four ...

...pizzas are avaliable in many Asda stores across the country. The stores have their own 'create your own' pizza stand, and you can either select a pizza that has been freshly made and pre wrapped that day (in my opinion, no fun!) or create your own, right down to choosing base type, toppings and how much cheese you want! What is there to choose from? BASES: - Thin crust (thin and crispy oven bake style) - Stonebaked (flat and crispy base, firm texture) ... ...texture: The taste of these Asda pizzas cannot be faulted. In my opinion, the pizzas from Asda's 'Create Your Own' are nicer than Pizza Ht; less grease and more toppings! The base is usually nice and crunchy; obviously more so with the 'thin and crispy' base, but even with the 'pan' base, the bread inside is soft but there is no risk of your base going soggy. There is still a good crunch as you bit into it! Packaging: The pizzas are all wrapped in ...

...We used to shop at Asda every week when we lived closer and we would always buy two pizzas, which were often on special offer. Two 10 inch create your own pizzas for £5 or something similar. ...do not live near an Asda no more. I used to buy these quite often for my husband and me.
They are really good, you go to the counter and you have the choice of base, thin and crispy or deep pan. I am greedy so used to choose the deep pan loll. To cook is very simple, just take it out of all the wrapping, put it on a tray, and stick it in the oven on gas mark 5 for around 15-20 minutes, but I would advise to keep checking it to make sure it does not burn.

As a huge fan of pizza I feel this is a great choice. I come from a largely vegetarian family, with a mix in food tastes, especially when it comes to pizza. My little brother only likes margharrita pizzas, with a few peppers and nothing fancy, whilst my other brother loves meat feast style pizzas, my parents love all the veg and jalapenos. Asda's create your own pizza is in my opinion a great alternative to an often pricey takeaway and from my point ... ...see exactly what goes on your pizza and who's handling the ingredients. There is also a selection of free oils to choose ...

Advantages: Choice, something a bit different Disadvantages: not always nice to eat, or how fresh
Asda Create your own Pizza is a really nice idea. It looks tempting in the store, with all the potential Pizza toppings laid out for your choosing, and some ready made fresh Pizza's if you prefer to just pick one up quickly. It's a lovely idea to be able to create your own Pizza, and a good idea to get children involved in trying different things, but unfortunately in my experience the Pizza isn't really all that good, and I'd rather choose my own ... ...of these Pizzas from different Asda stores and found that one was awful, and the other was delicious. I'm not sure if this is due to the person who makes it, what I chose to have on the Pizza, or maybe the length of time the ingredients had been on display (something which does concern me). This could be viewed as a fun way to enhance meal times, or as just another person with their grubby mits (although I'm sure they wear gloves or something) all ...
