Advantages Advantages Maybe good for childrens tea time.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Lacking in taste.

Cold frosty nights, a cup of steaming hot cocoa and a well buttered crumpet, what could be more comforting. Like many of us I will be in financial recovery mode for a few weeks until my bank balance steps firmly back into the black. This means that I will have to hunt that little bit harder for those supermarket offers and discount store bargains. I am a firm fan of Warburton's crumpets, they are thick and tasty and the deep crumpets allow for plenty of butter to sink in, for me the melting butter is half of the beauty of a hot toasted crumpet. Warburton's crumpets are generally about 75p for ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cheap

Disadvantages Disadvantages Don't compare to more expensive brands

I know it is really bad but I generally don’t eat breakfast. I don’t have much time in the morning before having to leave for classes so I really cant be bothered to spend ages eating cereal. If I do manage to eat something, crumpets are usually what I will go for. I decided to try Asda crumpets to see if there was any kind of difference between them and my favourites by Warbutons. A 6 packet of Asda Smart Price crumpets come in a clear plastic packet with only the Asda logo and nutritional information on it. As the plastic is mainly clear, you are able to see the crumpets and know what you ... more

Advantages Advantages Very reasonably priced, good quality product.

Disadvantages Disadvantages May not suit those watching their weight!

Review of Asda Smart Price Crumpets Asda's own label, economy range is known as Smart Price. In line with many other supermarkets, the Smart Price range has been introduced to offer shoppers a low budget alternative to costlier ranges. Asda Smart Price products can be found right across the store and incorporates many everyday items which are simply packaged and low in price. Some are better than others and these crumpets certainly fall into the 'better' category. Packaging and Appearance The Asda crumpets are packaged in Asda's Smart Price garb of basic white and green wrappings. The six ... more

    Advantages Advantages Price

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not quite as tasty as the expensive ones

You can't beat crumpets for breakfast with lots of melted butter, we usually have the Warburtons ones. Last time we were in Asda I picked up a packet of smart price crumpets, these were 35p for six, so substantially cheaper than our usual ones. They are packaged in a clear plastic wrapper showing the white and green smart price colour scheme, the crumpets are sat in a cardboard tray which I guess stops them getting broken and squashed. These are much thinner than other crumpets I have had, they were also smaller in diameter as well. If you look at them closer though, they are as you would ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cheap, tasty, versatile

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Unappealing aesthetics

These crumpets were scrumptious. Despite being a budget brand product they leave litlle to be desired from more expensive crumpets. They seem to be quite thin but this does not impact the taste which is as good as any other brand's crumpets. In my opinion once you have overcome the unappetising packaging, they are as good as any other crumpet with the added bonus of saving money. Perfect for students or families on a budget. For an ecnomy version crumpet they don't seem to have as fluffy texture as other's but when payin 39p for six crumpets, what can go wrong?! They are so versatile and ... more
