Advantages Advantages A club with Incredible History

Disadvantages Disadvantages At the moment - None!

Aston Villa's Holte Army - with our very own general! I've been an Aston Villa supporter now for many years. I remember the 1982 European Cup final that we won with pride and that is without a doubt our greatest achievement in the modern game. However, Aston Villa comes with a proud and very unique history in English Football, not least the formation of the Football league in 1888, which was the brain child of the Director of Aston Villa, William McGregor. McGregor was a Scotsman who moved down to the area and joined up with Villa in around 1878. By the end of McGregor's association with Aston ... more

John Gregory, well how do I start here is a man who only a couple of seasons ago was being tipped as a future England manager. How can this possibly ever happen this man has no tactics, no judgement and no man management qualities what so ever, what he does have is a mouth, and I must admit he uses it quite well, his interviews with the media, are always well rehearsed and he always seems to say and do what the media want him to do, shout his mouth off. As a person he may be a perfectly nice and intelligent man, but to me as a Premiership football manager he seems to be lacking, just as his ... more

Advantages Advantages starting to bring some decent young players through the ranks, decent summer signings

Disadvantages Disadvantages lack of big name or flair players

As the Premiership season opens, Aston Villa fans can prepare for another season of mid-table obscurity, another season of frustration with neither relegation or a Champions League place a likely scenario. They are widely seen as the most boring team in the English Premiership, quite content to just plod on at their own steady speed, with no genuine ambition to take big strides forward on the park. But it shouldn't be this way for Villa and the fans are right not to settle for that. Aston Villa are a big club. Their fans demand change and they have been quick to get on chairman Doug Ellis' ... more

Advantages Advantages decent bunch of players, rich club, great fans

Disadvantages Disadvantages suspect manager, unwilling to spend, living on past glories

Aston Villa fans will loudly proclaim that they are a Great Club – a Big Club – and deserve better than they are getting at the moment. Under Manager John Gregory things started brightly, but in the past 18 months Villa have sunk back into mid table mediocrity, with internal unrest and pleas for Chairman Doug Ellis to unlock the Treasure Chest and SPEND, SPEND, SPEND. But does Gregory know who to spend money on? Is he the right man to entrust a vast cheque book to? Now, I am not a Villa fan, have no connections nor allegiances with them at all – so what the hell do I know ... more

Advantages Advantages new players to come in?

Disadvantages Disadvantages too many un-happy players at the moment

It seems that nobody is happy at Aston Villa. I believe that if the un-happy players don’t get fixed up with other clubs, then Villa are due for an unhappy season. Even if the players who are un-happy leave, John Gregory has to make some good signings to replace them. The biggest loss will be Gareth Southgate. The latest un-happy player is Ugo Ehiogu, not happy at being told that Sunderland were interested in him. Add that to the other movers and un-happy players including Alan Thompson, Paul Merson and Mark Draper and I believe that mid-table is the best that Villa can manage in the coming ... more

Advantages Advantages Skillful midfield and good goalie. Loads of cash.

Disadvantages Disadvantages The defence and strikers are not very good and Gregory needs to get better

The chairmen is 'Deadly' Doug Ellis has a bootful of dosh. Which he should give to the gaffer who is John Gregory if they want to win the League. Though i think Gregory is a young man but without experience as he came from Wycombe who are in the second division with their new manager Lawrie Sanchez. Ellis though made a good choice in appointing Gregory as he has now improved his skills further but has taken him a long time. And it will take longer for him to develop in to a world class manager. And this a risk Ellis is taking he knows this is going to happen otherwise he would bring a world ... more

    Advantages Advantages ?????? Ginola ????

Disadvantages Disadvantages Boring. Selfish. Arrogant. Did I mention BORING?

Living a few roads away from the mighty Villa Park stadium, you would have thought that I was a fanatcial Villa fan but quite truthfully, from being a supporter, I am beginning to see despise the cl0b. Their lack of playing style, greed, poor leadership, a selfish chairman, zero input to the impoversihed community around it, its total arrogance and complete lack of ambition, makes Villa the worst team in the premier league right now. John Gregory, following in the footsteps of his chariman, Doug Ellis, is a very arrogant man, unwilling to listen to his players, putting himself above the team ... more

Advantages Advantages Very good manager and Squad of players

Disadvantages Disadvantages They all seem to want to leave

"Should I stay or should I go?" well this is what seems to be on every Aston Villa players lips of late. It seems we can hardly go a day, without reading about another Aston Villa player wanting to leave the club, but why is this happening? In my veiw they have a very good and honest manager in John Gregory, even if he is a bit "over the top" sometimes, who can forget his classic quote about Dwight Yorkes departure to Man United, "If I had a gun at the moment he told me, I would have shot him there and then"...absolute classic. Maybe it is the chairman Doug Ellis, I constantly hear Villa fans ... more

Advantages Advantages Strength in depth, getting better to watch, well-organised, good distribution. I love 'em, me.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Tight-fisted chairman with too high expectations, wasting potential (Barry, Ginola)

Firstly, I would like to plead with all Villa fans to leave John Gregory alone. The man (despite a few evident errors in selection) has done well with what little has been made available to him, and this man should not be guiding teams through the 'Inter-Two-bob' cup every season. Since Gregory changed the formation towards the latter end of last season, Villa have become minorly more enjoyable to watch, with the inclusion of more attacking players such as Hadji and Hendrie helping no end. However, as the BBC's coverage of our untimely UEFA cup exit against Varteks showed, even a team with the ... more
