    Advantages Advantages Price, versatility, results

Disadvantages Disadvantages Minor and occasional residue

How many times have you given in to clever TV marketing or unscrewed the lid on a product in a supermarket and popped it in your trolley for the plain reason that it smells nice? And then you have got it home, used it and thought ''actually, I'm REALLY dissapointed with this stuff!'' Well I think it happens all the time, and do you know what? Some times the things that have the most plain packaging, the most boring smell, and the most old-fasioned principles are the best. Astonish Oven & Cookware cleaner (from now on referred to simply as Astonish) is one of the most effective and best value ... more

Advantages Advantages quite cheap, non-toxic, cleans well on ovens, baths, sinks and taps

Disadvantages Disadvantages make sure you don't leave the lid off

My Mum swears by Astonish, ever since she first bought it after seeing it advertised in one of the Lakeland Plastics catalogue, and thus it was on her recommendation that I bought some to use myself (she's usually right about most things!). It can cost as much as £2.50 but if you go into a town, try one of the pound shops, as there you can get the same size tub (250ml) for only 99p, or go to Robert Dyas, where it is £1.30. So what is Astonish? Well, it is a little tub of a relatively hard looking substance, which is particularly recommended for cleaning hobs and the older type of baths - those ... more

Advantages Advantages Doesn't smell. Small Tub lasts for ages.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can leave a whitish film on dark surfaces

I first used Astonish, when I was a child at home. I wanted to clean my Bike Wheels up and couldn't get them clean. My Dad told me to use some "Elbow Grease" and when I asked where it was, he laughed and handed my the tub of Astonish. I couldn't understand him laughing, well I was only about 8!!!! When we saw some in a local £1 shop we decided to get a tub and see if it was as good as I remembered. We now use it to clean just about anything that is hard. The oven shelves, barbecue, grill pan, deep fat fryer, tiles, you name it we use it on it. I used it with some trepidation on the Deep Fat ... more

Advantages Advantages It is cheap and very useful indeed

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

I have had my 500g tub of Astonish Oven and Cookware Cleaner now for a few years and it has lasted me a long time because I never need to use very much of it and also when I do use it I don’t have to use a lot to get good results, I find. I bought mine in Home bargains for £1.20 and it comes in a little blue tub which is plastic with a plastic lid which clips on when I am not using it. It is very handy and useful for many things, I find. This is meant to be just for ovens and hobs and cokware but I have found that it is ueful for so many other things around the home. It brings my oven up to ... more

    Advantages Advantages inexpensive works well

Disadvantages Disadvantages you still have to do the work yourself

After reading a couple of ops on this product I decided to try it for myself. So a couple of weeks ago I bought a tub after spotting it in my local shop. My initial reaction was that it was expensive at £1.99 for 500g/17oz/300ml tub but this was a village shop so it would probably be cheaper elsewhere and I really wanted to give it a go, as the reports were very favourable. I got it home, put it away and forgot about it. As it happens, I have since found it in the 99p shop in Inverness so that’s where I’ll buy it in future. I have been a bit of a slob in the kitchen just lately, due to my ... more

Advantages Advantages lasts a long time and cleans brilliantly

Disadvantages Disadvantages can't really think of any

I'm not really into housework and cleaning so I'm a little 'astonished' to find myself writing a review on a cleaning product! However whenever the cleaning bug bites me I absolutely swear by Astonish oven and cookware cleaner and I particularly like it because apart from working really well it is also very cheap. I bought mine for £1 in a Pound Shop. Where I live I cannot always find it and the last time I bought it I actually went out of my way to track it down - sad soul that I am! WHAT IS IT? ***************** What is this wonder product then? It is a sort of beige paste, looks a bit like ... more

Seeing as though cleaning the oven and all it’s accessories is a real chore (for me anyhow) I like to have products to hand that make the job as quick, easy and effortless as possible, preferably with the added bonus of not being too powerful in the pong department too, as some oven cleaners are quite lethal where the fumes are concerned. For little over £1, £1.09 to be exact from a local shop I picked up a pot of the following and can honestly swear by its skill to clean not only the oven but many things besides, without too much elbow grease and a slight smell that is tolerable. Astonish Oven & Stove Cleaner is a great product. I buy mine at one of my local small shops and pay £1.00 for a 250ml tub which lasts ages, I have seen it in some of these magazines that come through the door and it costs quite a bit more in these so it is well worth shopping around. It is in a tub and looks like solid cream cleaner, I apply it with a sponge and/or a scouring pad. As its name implies it is great for cleaning ovens and hobs and makes this hard job quite easy, it is recommended by the vitreous enamel association. I use it mostly for my shower cubicle and it is just fantastic ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cleans without scratching

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can't use on the bath taps or the plug hole.

I have an old ceramic bath and when I first moved into this house I wanted to get rid of it because you can't use most bathroom cleaners as it damages the enamel, after using astonish on the cooker and finding it brilliant, I thought the bath is not much different than the enamel on the cooker so I gave it a go, the results were amazin, at least once a week I use it on the bath now and don't have to spend hours scrubbing like I had to before. I also have a lot of non stick pans that are not always that easy to clean and astonish is great on them also. The good thing with astonish is, it is not ... more

INTRODUCTION I have only used this once but I just have had to share this with you. It is truly amazing and the best product I have used for the oven cleaning. I have tried many products in cleaning my cooker but never found anything as good as this. Let me give you more information on this amazing product. WHAT IS ASTONISH? Astonish is a grey paste that cleans your oven and hob so it gleams with shine at you. There is nothing grubbier than to sit there scrubbing at your greasy oven for hours and still feel it isn’t shifting. This cleaner helps with the process of shifting the grease and burnt ... more
