Asus do include the drivers for windows on the recovery disk and also full instructions on installing XP on the unit are included in the very informative manual but using them will require an external cd/dvd rom. There are ways to do it without the external drive using a usb stick / sd card, but you will have to do a search. ...baby blue cover for my asus eee but any colour looks just as good. Inside, the layout is neat and tidy with reasonable sized keys for this small laptop. The sides of the laptop look clean in simple as is to be expected with a small laptop like this. I bought one of these 2 weeks ago and even though it is small and not the easiest screen to see on, I love it! Was able to easily connect to the Internet away from home, check files I had on a USB drive, without going to an Internet Cafe! It is light and easy to carry with you wherever you want to go! Only problem I have with it is that I will have to learn Linusx to do some of the things I want to do as my digital camera does not have a driver. ... Read review

I have two of the 701 eee pc's. One is used with Windows intsalled for the BMW diagnostic software (DigiMoto) and Navigation software (Navigation 8 and USB GPS receiver). The other, is as it comes from the box, I use this one when travelling, in terminals and hotels. I like the supplied operating system (Linux) and the software bundle is excellent. Hey, bought this for £199 from pc world on the basis that it was small, very portable and cheap. Didn't really know too much about it. It is an incredible little machine. Have paired it with a 4GB SD card to triple the storage capacity. The processor won't break records, and the media playback software is poor, falling out of synch very quickly. But as a portable internet surfer and word processor, it is an incredibly capable machine. I am currently using mine to record audio from sessions in the studio. The laptop does get quite hot and streaming video is choppy, but for the price it is truly unbeatable. Can get about 3hrs out of the battery. 4 stars.

in my opinion this product is very easy to use/setup, was ready to use in under a hour as all the software is pre-installed (mine is the linux version but it can handle xp very easy., its very portable & even with the 7in screen i find viewing my email & my favorite sites no problem., the battery life lasts about 2-3 hours depending on usage etc., it has a built in webcam which i use a lot on skype calls to my friends.., you can also connect to msn ... ...like this, checked alot of asus eee-like computers and couldn't find anything better. And i couldn't be more happy with it -- easy to use, very comfortable for your fingers, lightweight and nice.
