Advantages Advantages Fuel efficient, good-looking, high quality

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive to service/repair, no room for rear passengers

I bought the Audi A3 1.9 TDI Sport approximately 9 months ago, and have not been at all disappointed by my purchase. The basic model is available for £18,645 OTR, but of course with the number of add-ons that you'll probably want, the likelihood is that this figure may well exceed £20,000. The 5-speed 1.9 diesel engine gives 105 bhp, which may not seem like a huge amount, but it gives good acceleration, even in 5th gear at 70mph. 0-60 in 11.4 seconds, again not the fastest, but plenty for everyday driving, especially once you get the hang of the turbo lag. It is also group 10 insurance, so not ... more

Advantages Advantages Economy, Build Quality, Residual Value, Desirability...

Disadvantages Disadvantages Less performance than others at this price

This review is based on my experiences of running this car over 10 days and 800 miles as a courtesy car. The Audi A3 is a premium small family car and priced at the top of this particular segment. The car I used was the limited special edition version available on the road at a discounted price of just over £16,000. My initial reaction to being given the cheapest Audi in the range was one of disappointment as my own car is a well specified A4 with quattro and I also prefer the response of petrol engines. I was very pleasantly surprised by the A3 though. As expected the interior build quality ... more

Advantages Advantages Loads of space, brill sound system!

Disadvantages Disadvantages i dont know of any!!

My mum has one of these little gems and i love it to bits!! Ok, so my mum got this car 4 yrs ago, (W reg), as a company car and i wasn't too keen on the 'Call Girl Red' colour, it's sort of orangy-red! But it has 5 doors and its really comfortable! I havent driven it (because i cant get on the company insurance yet), so i dont know how it handels, but i'm proud to give my mum a call and pick me up if i ever need her too. The interior isn't the best i've seen, but it's ok. Its black, and has red lights everywhere! There's only a tape player but iv adjusted the bass and treble and the sound ... more

Advantages Advantages Fast, robust, handling, economy

Disadvantages Disadvantages Centre arm rest makes use of handbrake a pain

Recently I bought a new a3, i chose it to replace the a3 I had at the time which had proved economical, reliable and reasonably nippy, it was a 1.6. The real determining factor for me though was the fact that the 1.6 was written off when a 52 seater bus didn't bother breaking and smahed the rear end in. Standing back and looking at the damage I was impressed that the tailgate had still about a foot or so to go before reaching the back seats. Granted the bus probably wasn't doing more than 30 mile an hour, but I was stationary. So replaced the 1.6 with a 1.9tdi , 6gear. Having 130 bhp certainly ... more

    Advantages Advantages Build quality

Disadvantages Disadvantages Still looking, maybe price!

Six months since buying my A3 1.9TDi 130bhp Sport I still find myself looking for excuses to pop out for a drive. I offer to drive everywhere just so I can slip behind the wheel. Without a doubt the best car I've owned so far. It's coveted by my wife and several friends and I honestly cannot blame them! Handling is firm to hard but makes the drive feel sporty even at relatively low speeds. Once on the motorway then just open her up and watch larger cars struggle to eat up the tarmac like this one. The miles roll by and in no time at all you reach your destination in comfort and style. The ... more

Advantages Advantages lots of comfort and room!!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Almost all small comforts are extra :(

I love this car. . well worth the money. . it drives so smooth and grips the road excellently, especially with the recent heavy snowfall. I get looks when the car has just been washed I love it The only drawbacks are things such as an temparature gauge and TRIP computer are all extras whereas my old car a 2001 Clio had all of that as standard. It has nice features such as when the key is taken out of the ignition to leave the car the internal light comes on so u can pick up all your belongings before you leave the car and the light only switches off when you lock the car perfect at night ... more

Advantages Advantages Fuel economy and a quick drive!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Leg room in the back is limited and high dealer servicing costs!

Having owned this car for about 2 months now, the car still impresses me and I enjoy driving the car. Its great on country roads, great on local roads and great on the motorway. Its very economical, I get over 50mpg from my 1.9Tdi 130Bhp model. Its a quick car and has the advantage of a 6th gear which is best used on the motorway. It has a great factory fitted, Bose in car entertainment. It has lots of torque (more than a Porsche Boxter!) and can take on any boy racer! The car itself has come with many factory standard options, including 15inch alloy wheels and climate control. A downside to ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages No Back seat leg room

Overall a beautiful car with a fantastice drive. The accelleration is great and very useful for overtaking and removing yourself from potentially dangerous situations. Fuel economy is also good -i managed 550 miles from 1 tank of diesel. On the down side the basic spec does not come with a lot of gadgets and it is pricy - but then mine is a company car so this doesnt effect my rating! The service i have recieved at Audi Garages is again excellent & very professional -overall a superier service. The boot is also bigger than you think - i have managed to get a full set of Scuab gear for 2 people ... more

My mum recently got an Audi A3 1.9 TDi 110. This car is the best car i have ever driven, the handling is incredible, it just sticks to the road. the acceleration for a diesel car is very good and you can certainly get some speed up in this car... 80mph in 4th at ease, 60mph in third at ease. if pushed god knows. but this car is very recommendable and more to the point, reliable. a must buy.. especially the 1.9 TDi. the wheels are 17" babys and they look good, audi chucked in a 6 cd changer with the audi concert radio. the sound that pumps out is really good. The comfort of the seats and ... more
