Advantages: Stylish, Robust, Great to Drive Disadvantages: Noisy, lack of space in rear, ignition coils
...relates to an August 2001 Audi A4 2.0 SE Manual (Petrol).
General
-------
I have owned an Audi A4 2.0 since August 2001 now and feel that I am now able to fairly review this car from the point of view of a longish term driver.
I had not owned an Audi before but I chose one because of the Audi reputation for good German engineering and was pleased with it after a test drive. The car looks good, feel solid and drives well - but more about all that ... ...get full details on the Audi web site (http://www.audi.co.uk). However a brief summary of interesting details follows:-

...priced 2.0 family car, the Audi rides with superior quality, and is fast enough to keep up with modern day traffic conditions.

On neither occasion was ... ...garage.
While not enjoying the benfits of a warranty, through buying a used A4 I have enjoyed a standard of motoring unavailble in a £9,000 new car and would recommend the car to someone considering it as a used buy. During the course of owning my A4 I have driven five models from the new BMW 3 series range. My 4 year old A4 compared very favourably to a brand new 320i, and a professional driver friend of mine preferred my A4 to the 3 series. The ...

Advantages: Quality of construction, good looks Disadvantages: Small interior, engine lacks low-down torque & power
The Audi A4 2.0 is a handsome high quality car with a smooth highway ride and generally low noise levels. Interior
The interior is snug for 4 occupants although those in the rear seats should not be taller than 1.7M as legroom is limited. The seats are well constructed for comfort but lack sufficient sideways restraint for more enthusiastic cornering. The seat longitudinal adjustment is by lever located on the left, a bar across the front of the ... ...does not aid reversing the Audi A4, but in this regard the previous model (Audi 80) was even worse.
Engine and transmission
The A4 2.0 is sufficiently powerful during motorway driving at coastal altitudes, but here in Johannesburg (1800M above sea level) there is a deficit of torque and low-down power to gracefully propel this relatively heavy car, this is noticed particularly when accelerating from rest. This lack of torque tends to spoil the ...
