Advantages Advantages Quick , nice door sound , MPG

Disadvantages Disadvantages Low,unreliable, tiny tiny boot, big little car

Audi A Bore Being a company car driver often slants the way you review a car, the assumption is always that its free and so why should you complain about getting to drive what in many peoples eyes is a "flash motor". But you could also look on it as a extreme ageing test, 40000 miles on one year certainly starts to show the Skoda credentials hidden below the Audi Badge, and this accelerated ageing process also finds the cracks that the BoTox of self ownership hides. If you spent £24000 on your own car you would practise a process called positive reinforcement, it's the marketing equivalent of ... more

Advantages Advantages The neighbours think you have gone up in the world

Disadvantages Disadvantages Noisy, cramped and it doesn't like corners

The A4 Avant can be characterised as a strange mix of opposites: great to look at, but not to to drive; big on the outside, cramped on the inside, stylish yet dull. If you want a load-lugging estate car, the A4 is not for you. In fact, if you want a family car then the A4 is probably not the car for you either. The interior and boot could not be described as spacious - front seat occupants are likely to clash elbows and knock their knees on the centre console, rear seat passengers have their knees around their ears, and the boot is no more practical than on the saloon version. Just about ... more

Advantages Advantages Superb build quality, very reliable

Disadvantages Disadvantages Awful ride and handling, over-priced

First impressions were of its awkwardness to get into without banging ones head on the door frame, but once inside the cabin is very good, though space for small bits and pieces is poor. After owning it for 4 years I'm well used to getting in and out. One niggle of cabin detail is the poor legibilty of the numbers on the main instruments on gloomy days, long before it gets dark enough to switch on any lights. Even on bright days the secondary KMh markings on the speedo are almost invisible, a real pain when driving outside the UK. The diesel engine has bags of torque and never disappoints ... more

Advantages Advantages MPG, Comfort, value for money

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Looks, Small boot

We bought this car due to a growing family thinking that it would be spacious and being an estate have a large boot. We were also looking for a diesel as we were doing quite a lot of miles. However, having owned the car for some 5 months now and going on several holidays in the UK with a 4 year old and a 12 week old baby, I can confirm that we were wrong about the boot - I can't believe how little we can fit in the boot considering it is an estate, I thought that was the whole point of them! Well, actually I suppose you can get quite a bit in if you're prepared to stack your things up to the ... more

Advantages Advantages Fuel Consumption, quality interior, lovely to drive

Disadvantages Disadvantages Front suspension can give expensive problems

I have a 1999 A4 TDi 110 bhp. I have found the car to have excellent fuel consumption (50mpg is easily attainable) and, for a diesel the performance is good. It will not please the out and out driver in the same way that a 3-series BMW would, but it is a different car. You arrive after a long journey unruffled - the ride qualtiy is excellent and all the controls easy to use. Handling is safe, but perhaps not very sporty. The boot space is excellent, although rear seat leg room would not suit if you intend carrying passengers frequently. My car has just turned 100,000 miles. The only problem is ... more

Advantages Advantages Super comfy car with little road noise makes for a comfortable long journey

Disadvantages Disadvantages Seats are low, and boot isn't huge

This feels and looks the expensive 'posh' car that it is without seeming pretentious with it. Driving this car is pure luxury. So many of the features are automatic. For example, the headlights do their own thing - and usually correctly. The only time we have had issues is when it has been bright but foggy, but you are warned that this may be the case in the manual. The front wipers can also be automatic which is also great, although if the rain doesn't fall on the sensor then they may not get going quick enough (very rare occurence!) The third thing ours does is with an optional extra that we ... more

1 Star Quick review of Audi A4 Avant 1.9 TDI by genti434 10/07/2008
I use one of this as a taxi. All i could say its that appart from the prowdness of owning an audi "bage" the rest is very disapointing. I will not recomend to buyers unless they simply love the expensive and not rewarding Audi badge.

Advantages Advantages Status, economy & range, finish & fit.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Noise, rear seat leg room, servicing costs.

I've just completed 75,000 miles in my 1998 A4 TDiSE 110 Avant, and since I took delivery of this ex demo car it has dispatched each and every mile with ease. Initially considered something of a ginmmick, the on board computer is both fun and useful to use. I love filling the tank and hitting the range button, which generally shows about 750 miles. Economy of this car is absolutely superb, I rarely drop below 50mpg, (and I doubt that it is a particularly light car). I do find the car a bit noisy, particularly when the engine is working hard up a gradient between 50 and 70 mph. I have also ... more

    Advantages Advantages Its an Audi

Disadvantages Disadvantages I cant drive two at once!

Forget the winging prat's assesment above of this fantastic car, he clearly hasn't a clue about motoring! The car is safe! The car is fast. The car is economical, regulalry 55 mpg and thats a spiritedly driven! The car is very comfortable. There is plenty of room. Its handling is well beyond reproach. Who wants to or rather who should be drinking coffee whilst driving? Answer no one. Leave the coffee for the cafe! Park the car outside and marvel at the engineering! I drive 60 to 70 thousand miles per year and have not found a more rewarding and pleasent car to drive! Long didtances short ... more
