5 Stars "YOU'LL BE NEEDING A NEW SCREEN IN THERE" Review with images 22/03/2009
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Reliable. Quick. Polite. Efficient.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Cost, if not insured. Seen rather too much of them recently!

This, in a sense, is an odd consumer review from me here; usually we choose who to buy products and services from – in this case, on three separate occasions, I actually had little or no say in the matter. Under any circumstances I can only imagine glass replacement – especially on a car – as falling into the category of a “panic purchase”. In that respect, this review may offer certain comfort to those, like I, who are placed into the hands of Autoglass through their insurance company, in our case that is a fleet policy with Zurich. As far as I understand the situation, you do not HAVE to ... more

Advantages Advantages If insured, repairs cost you nothing, and even replacements only cost you an excess, not your NCB!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Wo betide anyone paying for this themselves!

Over a period of many years of car-ownership (dating back to 1971 now I come to think of it!) I’ve had several reasons to call out Autoglass, all the time through my insurance. I’ve had two broken windscreens, fortunately in the era of laminated glass being ubiquitous, and therefore was able to pick my moment to have the repair done. I shudder to think what the ‘bad old days’ must have been like when you had to punch out a broken safety-glass* screen at speed just to get safely onto the hard shoulder. You can bet your life it would have been raining at the time. (*Safety glass – the stuff that ... more

4 Stars Hammer Time. Review with images 13/04/2011
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Stress free. Cheap if you have fully comprehensive insurance.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Wasn't kept informed of the late arrival of driver. Obnoxious call centre man.

It was 6am and I was woken with a jolt at the sudden and un-expected ringing of my doorbell. As it was swiftly followed by a rapid thumping on the door, I knew it was urgent, so got up and galloped down the stairs to be greeted by my neighbour - she leaves early for work and upon leaving, discovered her cars front windscreen had been smashed (not shattered, but a huge impact mark and spider legs running out from it). She then glanced round and saw my car’s rear windscreen had been totally obliterated. . . She’d sent her son off down the street and he came back a few minutes later saying that ... more

Advantages Advantages professional service, experienced company, open 365 days a year

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

I first heard about Autoglass on a TV advert and vaguely remember hearing that any windscreen chips would not cost a penny to be repaired as the cost would be covered by your insurance company. Little did I know that a few months later within a space of 2 months I had to call out Autoglass twice, for a window replacement and a chip repair! A few weeks ago I was driving along when I heard a loud bang. It scared the living daylights out of me and I instinctively put a hand up to my face as I heard glass shatter. After the initial bang I looked at my driver's side window and there was a small ... more

So, there I was driving down the M5, I got just near to Bristol, and BANG. You guessed it a stone came up and hit the windscreen. I had a quick check, and saw nothing untoward. A couple of days later I noticed a crack coming up from where the Windscreen joins the car, and a big chip right in the middle of the screen!! ** What did I do? ** I was aware that a windscreen is designed to provide about 30% of the strength of a car, so thought I’d better get on a do something about it! Apart from that it was getting colder, and I didn’t was a face full of cold air when the windscreen went!!! So I ... more

5 Stars Crackin' Good Service! Review with images 25/09/2006
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages They're Good and they're quick! Chip repairs are free!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can cost your excess if you need a replacement!

My experiences with Autoglass are few and far between, however on the two occasions that I have needed to call Autoglass I received such a good service that I thought I should write them a review to show just how good they are! I first used Autoglass in November 2005 after I bought my Vauxhall Corsa with a chip in the windscreen. I had heard many adverts on the radio about chips and how you should get them repaired before they turned into cracks, so having been made slightly paranoid that my windscreen was going to shatter in front of me I called the free phone number and arranged for ... more

    Advantages Advantages Work done well

Disadvantages Disadvantages Trouble with appointment slots

So when I found I had a dent and a 30cm crack down my windscreen I realised I needed to do something relatively fast to solve the problem!! Knowing that I had used Autoglass before for a small dent in the windscreen I had no concerns about calling them again to get the windscreen fixed. This time rather than phoning I decided to use the website to book my appointment as it seemed a lot easier, for once I was proved right. The website was really straightforward to use and the instructions were clear cut and easy to understand. It took you through each stage, what was the problem, what was your ... more

Advantages Advantages Whole job done in less than an hour, polite staff

Disadvantages Disadvantages I had to wait nearly a week

Last year my windscreen developed a crack after being hit by a stone, great! After going through my insurance documents I realised that I did infact have glass cover which was a slight relief so after phoning them and explaining what had happened they put me through to Autoglass. I explained what had happened to the man on the other end of the phone and he asked if I thought it could be repaired or needed a new windscreen. I explained the crack had got bigger and bigger as the day progressed so I would need a new windscreen. He said that wasn't a problem and took details such as my car, my reg ... more

Advantages Advantages As quick and polite as a butler on speed

Disadvantages Disadvantages I had to get my windscreen smashed to meet them!

This is probably going to be a short little review of Autoglass, but maybe there isn't that much to say about a company so swiftly efficient that they popped in and out of my life like the ultimate model of excellent discreet service. I had the misfortune of having my rear windscreen smashed whilst parked in Oxford last weekend. I also had the misfortune to be about 10 seconds too late to actually witness the 2 hooligans responsible in the act of doing it. It's a long story, but I basically walked past them on their way out of the carpark, followed them to a house, confronted them and then had ... more

    5 Stars Chips anyone? 03/03/2007
    User recommends the product

    Advantages Advantages Speedy response

Disadvantages Disadvantages I haven't found any

Sooner or later I suppose it had to happen - driving back to the office after a meeting a passing lorry flicked a stone at my windscreen and chipped it. I am not too precious about my car but nevertheless I wasn't happy - it was just twelve months to the day after I got the car and I knew I had to do something about the chip before the windscreen got further damaged. I have seen all the adverts that tell you that chips in the windscreen can be repaired for free under a deal with the insurance companies - it seemed the time had come to put those claims to the test! The following morning when I ... more
