I’ve seen Aveda products eagerly recommended by other ciaoers including their anti-freeze serum. On a recent spending-spree in Harvey Nicks I sauntered up to the Aveda counter (it’s pretty big) and spoke to a nice young chap about the serum. He instead recommended ‘be curly’ to me in order to make the most of my ‘natural assets’.
It costs £14 for 200ml and the claim is:

Advantages: Light, non-greasy, Organic, does leave you with nice hair Disadvantages: Expensive! Has a v. strong smell that might not be to everyone's taste.

Like all salons, hair stylist have the alterior motive of selling you their products. In Aveda, they didn't need to push for the hard sell, those who could afford the hair cut would ask for the products without checking the price tag.
