When we bought our daughter home from hospital, after she was born, she became very lazy and stopped sucking on the breast, this then lead me down the route of expressing milk as a way to make sure she got some food and we stopped panicking at the thought of her starving to death. I did normally try to express before she would want feeding but sometimes this was impossible and I would have to use already expressed milk out of the fridge. This would need to be warmed up by placing the bottle in a jug of boiled water. I started to get a bit feed up with waiting for the kettle to boil and then ... more

I bought our Avent Bottle warmer second hand when I has pregnant with my son, I was not sure how much I would be using one as I was planning on breastfeeding for as long as possible but for £2.50 I couldn’t say no. ****Cost**** As I have said I bought mine second hand, but I have just checked on various websites and Toys R Us are selling the Avent brand for £17.99, Mothercare are selling their brand for £17.99 and Boots are selling their brand for £17.99 – so for once the shop makes are not cheaper. I would recommend shopping around though as I do recall seeing this bottle warmer on sale for ... more

Advantages Advantages Looks good. Does what it says on the tin.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not practical. Missing too many essential features.

INTRODUCTION In the excited first flush of parenthood, you are bombarded by a large number of products which, on the face of it, look like a brilliant idea. These range from various slings and carriers, sterilising systems, infant seats, scientifically engineered bottles and various other essential looking paraphernalia. The difficulty is, without guidance, they all look good and its hard to discern what will be useful in the long run and what will otherwise gather dust. Fortunately, having managed to get our daughter through her first four years, we were able to apply some of the valuable ... more

Advantages Advantages Simple set-up, Easy to clean

Disadvantages Disadvantages No thermometer or timer, difficult to get to the right temperature

I was recommended the Avent Express Bottle Warmer by a colleague and so I rushed off in my 38th week of pregnancy to spend the GBP20.00 at Argos to buy it. Usually when things come recommended (and mind, I've had several great recommendations from this colleague of mine), I have great expectations and as a result, I think the Avent Express Bottle Warmer has let me down quite badly. The idea is really quite simple - a contraption to warm up bottles of formula or breast milk so that baby doesn't have to drink milk that is tepid or cold from the fridge. The Avent Express Bottle Warmer does ... more

Avent's Bottle Warmer uses heated water to warm your baby's milk or food. They are widely available including in most supermarkets. I got mine from Argos and paid £19.99. In the box you get the warmer itself (no assembly required) a small Avent bottle with lid and a feeding spoon. Simply plug the warmer into the mains, put the bottle in and then fill with water to the level of the contents of the bottle, or to the maximum level possible. Then switch the warmer on and wait the required amount of time for it to warm the bottle and contents. It does have three heat levels although I can't for the ... more

Avent Electric Bottle Warmer The Avent Electric Bottle Warmer is designed to hold the Avent baby milk bottles and warm them up to a nice temperature for your baby to drink. When you have a baby you seem to get thrown so much different information and people all seem to tell you different things. When I had Jack I was told by the hospital to use fresh water and boil it in the kettle, I should them cool down the water and finally add the right amount of powdered baby milk. Of course in the middle of the night when Jack was wanting a feed this is not the sort of time that he or I would want to ... more

Advantages Advantages Conveniant On Face Value

Disadvantages Disadvantages Soon Realised This Could Be Dangerous If Left On

When our little one graced us with her presence early last month we were under no illusion we would be spending a great deal of time preparing bottles and consequently feeding them to our baby. So when we saw that Philips offered a bottle warmer in their Avent range that we had already invested quite heavily in, we presumed this would be a great time saving device as it would heat the bottles to the right temperature without the need to run them under the cold tap for some time after getting side tracked and leaving them to stand in hot water for too long. Upon removing the bottle heater from ... more

Advantages Advantages Accommodates all brands of bottles, and heats bottle liners too.

Disadvantages Disadvantages An internal thermostat, and an external timer would greatly improve this product.

Okay, I admit it. I used to be one of those presumptuous, mothers-to-be, who assumed I would be breastfeeding my baby instead of bottle-feeding. My continual attempts to feed my son the natural way failed; thus, I was forced to feed via bottle. I literally became a full-time pumper, and bottle washer! Suffice to say, after weeks of heating refrigerated breast milk on the stove, I broke down and bought a bottle warmer. That was over 2-years ago. While a lot has changed in that time, the EXPRESS Bottle & Babyfood Warmer remains the same. I selected this model because, 1.) I use Avent products ... more

So, when you're expecting a baby....especially your first baby.....you go through the mother and baby catalogues or walk through Boots or Mothercare, and you see a million and one must have products! Its only once the baby is born and you have stockpiled all of these products that you realize that most of them are things that you'll never need and never use! The Avent Bottle Warmer is one such product. The Avent Bottle Warmer cost me £17.99 from my friends at Amazon with next day delivery. The Baby warmer came complete with a complimentary feeding bowl and spoon. Although the Avent Bottle ... more

We decided to get this bottle warmer as we thought that it would be handy to have when warming milk, and then food for my son. We chose Avent as it is a brand that we both trust. The bottle warmer is electric, so all you need to do is plug it into the wall. With the warmer you get a basket which fits into it, so that your milk/food isnt floating round. On the warmer, there is a dial which has three numbers on-these numbers indicate different temperatures. One is 38-40 degrees centigrade, two is 45 to 75 degrees centigrade and three is 75 to 85 centigrade. In the front of the instruction ... more
