Advantages: Reduces Colic, Easy to clean, next best thing to Breast feeding Disadvantages: A bit expensive but this is not a disadvantage.
...then that my husband bought Avent feeding bottles from Mothercare. The thing which attracted us both was the unique shape of the bottle and the assurance that our baby is getting the next best thing to the breast and that it reduces the risk of colic. I started using it and thus became the biggest fan of Avent bottles. Both my sons have been using Avent to date and I have never ever had any problems with that. This is where Avent come in. AVENT radically redesigned the baby bottle to closely resemble the natural feeding process and give mothers the freedom to combine breast and bottle-feeding with ease. They can be used conveniently to give expressed breast milk as well as formula. Avent teat is designed in such a way so as to reduce any risk of air swallowing because it allows your baby to suckle continuously, hence copying the function of ...

Advantages: Babies actually seem to like them, easy to clean, lots of accessories available so they can last you for many years Disadvantages: none
I started using Avent bottles with my son, George, he was breastfed but I used the Avent breast pump (which you can attached directly to the feeding bottle) to express off some milk. I started him getting used to a bottle early (2 weeks old) he took to the bottle straight away. These bottles are apparently like sucking from the breast for a baby and George certainly had no problems.
You can buy all sorts of accessories to use with the bottles, ie ... ...breastfed babies (as breastfed babies can get addicted to bottles and go off the breast as the bottle is easier to get the milk from!) training spouts and also the new magic cup which the lid will fit directly onto the bottle (like the anyway up cup, with no spills, except you can actually get the liquid out without sucking excessively!). You can also buy handles to encourage your baby to drink from it themselves. The accessories are widely available ...

Advantages: Wide Neck Bottles, very well made and they can withstand just about anything. Disadvantages: No disadvantages with the bottles themselves, but slightly more expensive than other brands.
...for my daughter, and found AVENT bottles by far the best on the market!!
Avent bottles can be steralised by both cold water and microwave, and are tough enough to withstand constant steralisation by the microwave without inpairing the fluid measurements clearly marked!! I also found that unlike some other brands I had tried and mainly melted, these bottles are tough and very robust even when they are dropped by accident!!
I have only had one leakage ... ...top on it correctly.
Avent sell a number of accesories as well as replacement parts for their bottles. For instance you can convert the bottles into a trainer cup by purchasing the handle and a spout attachment. Its handy to remember that all bottles are supplied with clear silicone teats in a slow flow, which is ideal for newborns or when changing from breast feeding. Remember as your baby gets older to change to the medium, or fast flow teats ...

...find an opinion page for Avent in general so i have had to write about it on here.
Now where do i start, firstly there are the Avent bottles (around £8.50 for 3) they have wide necks and are incredibly comfotable to hold whilst feeding you baby. The bottle cap sits tightly on the locking ring and therefore there are no leeks whilst carring them to and from journeys (good for when you have that all important spare set of baby clothes inside the bag ... ...of filling). There are also Avent disposable bottles.
They have a wide variety of teats starting from newborn to vari-flow all which are hard wearing and are good for first time mums who like me didnt have a clue as to what teat i should be using as other brands normally only have 3 types of teats, slow, medium and fast flow.
Avent also have the Avent magic cup with a small soft spout ideal for little mouths which can be used from around 3 monts ...

...have to say that the AVENT bottles are the only ones I have ever bought.
No mater how many times they are dropped they never seem to break.
You can obtain them in 4oz size, which is handy for Juice, and 9oz size bottles.
When you start to wean them onto beaker cups there's no need to buy a cup continue with the bottles as you can buy a spout and handles for the AVENT bottles, how neat that is. You can get a range of teats Slow flow, Medium flow, ... ...53p cheaper than boots.
AVENT is suitable for all methods of sterilization and is dishwasher safe.
It is recommended replacing teats after 3 months, for hygiene reasons.
AVENT was launched in 1984
A two year clinical trial found that newborns fed with the AVENT bottle had less colic and were more content when awake - closer to breast fed babies. The AVENT teats are breast shaped, which will make it easier to switch from the breast.

...toddlers and I agree: Avent bottles are the best. Both of my children were born in the States (I'm an American now living in the UK), where Avent products are not as readily available as they are here. The bottles and accessories were frequently hard to find and much more expensive than the other brands, but I must say that they were worth driving the extra mile for and certainly worth every penny.

Advantages: Adaptable system that grows with the baby Disadvantages: Cracks
...Everyone seemed to suggest Avent was best. And so it seemed until today.
I had initially bought the bottles with the intention of expressing milk, and when it turned out I couldn't breastfeed, I was even more grateful for the bottles when I had to use formula feed.
The big negative is that today, I noticed a big crack in the side of the bottle I was using. The crack runs from the top of the bottle vertically down for about an inch. I've been using ... ...water with baby bottle brushes and heating in a baby bottle warmer. In other words the bottles have been treated in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, and there is still a big crack. Obviously, I can no longer use the bottle. It wasn't a crack serious enough to leak and I only noticed it when feeding which gave me a shock. The big danger is that germs and bacteria will breed in cracks.
On the upside, the bottle does seem to make feeding ...

Advantages: durable, can be converted into training cups. Disadvantages: Not the cheapest of bottles, different teats a bit of a con.
I have been using Avent bottles since my son was born and I have found them to be very good bottles. Here are some of my thoughts:
The Avent bottle range
Avent bottles come in small 4oz (125ml) bottles or larger 9oz (260ml) bottles. They are wide-necked and will fit in all sterilisers for wide-necked bottles. I bought 6 of the 9oz bottles for my son when he started bottle feeding. It is definitely worth getting the larger bottles because 5 months ... ...good reputation.
You can buy Avent bottles at most chemists and some supermarkets.
Teats
The bottles come with stage 1 teats, which are suitable from newborn. After 1 month they recommend buying stage 2 teats, which have a faster flow. Then at 3 months stage 3 and finally at 6 months stage 4. If you buy all the teats this turns out to be very expensive. I bought mine in Boots for £1.99 for 2 teats (so £6.00 for all my bottles).
I actually found ...
