Advantages Advantages Lump sum after 15 years

Disadvantages Disadvantages Low returns at the moment

When I bought my flat two and a half years ago I decided to start a savings plan at the same time. I had seen AXA Sun Life's bonus cashbuilder plus plan advertised a lot on both TV and in the national press at the time and although endowment plans in general have had a lot of bad press I went for this one as I reckoned I would not be as likely to save anything otherwise. *****WHO ARE AXA SUN LIFE?***** Sun Life opened its doors for business almost two hundred years ago in 1810 and at one time declined the chance to insure the life of the famous author Charles Dickens on the basis that he ... more

Advantages Advantages A Guaranteed Tax FREE lump sum.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

I wonder how many of the younger members here on Ciao have thought about or actually have life insurance. I got married at 16 years of age and as I lived in a counsel house, Life insurance never crossed my mind, as I thought only older people or people with mortgages took out policies. I suppose you could say that I was very naïve, and I would assume that the younger generation today are more in the know than I was. By the time I was nineteen, I had 2 children and still had no life cover, it only was brought to my attention when I was suddenly left on my own with my children, when my husband ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Gurantee of building up a tax free lump sum

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

REVISED EDITION PLEASE READ! I decided to switch my insurance provider as I am very impressed by the BONUS CASHBUILDER PLUS. I have watched the fantastic commercial hosted by Carol Smille on the outstanding features of the BONUS CASH BUILDER PLUS and anlso recieved a promotion for this in the post last March. I have been very inspired by this saving product so I took out a BONUS CASHBUILDER PLUS MYSELF. I personally feel that with the very low interest rates at the moment that this is the very best way to secure a substantial tax free lump sum in the next 15 years. I would like to promote the ... more

Advantages Advantages At least you're saving something

Disadvantages Disadvantages Low return, high penalties for getting out early

A simple explanation of how the Axa cashbuilder policy works, is as follows: The plan runs over 15 years, with initial contributions of ten pounds per month, increasing by two pounds annually, until your monthly contributions have gone up to twenty pounds, which you continue to pay for the last ten years. Each year a bonus is added to your savings and at the end of the 15 years, you receive a tax free lump sum. It sounds good in theory, but personally I am not convinced. I took out a policy with Axa about five years ago, thinking that ten pounds a month sounded like a reasonably small amount ... more

    Advantages Advantages Sod all

Disadvantages Disadvantages Money given doesn't cover the cost of a funeral. money paid in is more than you'll get back

If you're interested in purchasing life insurance your best bet is to avoid AXA at all costs. I have had friends who's family members used AXA for several years and at the end they didn't get enough money to cover the funeral let alone anything else. If you want life insurance which will cover the cost of a funeral and you are over the age of 50 I would highly recommend using AGE UK aka funeral plan. You aren't required to pay for the remainder of your life you have the choice of paying one lump sum which at this time is £2000 or a payment plan which once you have paid £2000 you don't need to ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to set up

Disadvantages Disadvantages very very poor customer service when you need them most

I have had buildings insurance for several years with axa - it was more expense but I had a number of other insurance policies with them (life ete). Never claimed - but this winter had a burst pipe during the cold spell. Insurance detailed that I would be covered for pipes damaged as a result of freezing. Thought I would be okay, contacted Axa and was made to feel like an insurance fraudster -cross examined for 40 minutes (worse than facing a barrister), told it wasn't cold enough for pipes to freeze (this occured middle of winter with hard frosts to minus 8), informed I would need to ... more
