The Weakest Link is a quiz show that i have been watching for a while now yet i`m still baffled why the title of the show does not reflect the way the players play the game. The objective of the game is to answer as many questions correctly whilst earning money in the process. This is done by a team of 9 contestants who individually have to answer their allocated questions but at the same time have to look out for the team`s interest. By looking out for the team`s interest the contestants have to monitor how each individual is performing when tackling the questions and banking the money. At the ... more

    Advantages Advantages The bitchiness

    Disadvantages Disadvantages The wink

By admitting this, I feel like one of those people who haven’t got round to buying themselves a mobile: My name is Pennii and I still have analogue cable. But there’s no need to worry, I’m currently looking into On digital and a mate of mates cousin who can chip a card. (only joking, as if I would involve myself in anything illegal. Honestly!!) All this waffle brings me ‘neatly’ to The Weakest Link, almost. We’ve had a nightmarish few weeks (will this year ever end?) Jobs have been lost, gas has been leaking, the council are buffoons and Southern Electric ... more

Advantages Advantages Anne Robinson. Anne Robinson. Anne Robinson. (well, I LIKE Anne Robinson!!)

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not a thing

~ ~ Oh, the ‘mad cabbie’ really does like this game show. I know that in terms of being innovative, or in breaking any new ground, or even in the amount of prize money that can be won it is vastly overshadowed by the extremely popular “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” I also know that its host, the inimitable Anne Robinson, is not everybody’s cup of tea, and in point of fact upsets some people enormously. ~ ~ But not this fella. It’s confession time here from the ‘mad cabbie’! I’ve always had a “thing” for authoritative women ... more

The Weakest Link Made by the BBC The Weakest Link is broadcast on BBC2, weeknights at 5.30pm. The show starts with 9 contestants. The aim of the game is to answer questions to earn money. This is initially done in team form. At the end of each round the statement is said, “It’s time to vote off…The Weakest Link!” At this point the contestants each write down the name of the person they want voting off. The person with the most votes gets the ultimate send off “**** you are The Weakest Link…Goodbye!” (And how many times have you seen that on a T-shirt ... more

I would just like to write a review on the Weakest Link, which is now actually shown on BBC1 and not BBC2 as it says here between 5.15 and 6 pm or thereabouts. It is hosted by Anne Robinson, and the format of it is going to be described here. There are about nine contestants who start off at the beginning of the show, and they all introduce themselves; their age (sometimes); what they do, and where they come from. The rules of the game are then described – the person whose name is first alphabetically starts the game off by answering the first question. All of the questions are general ... more

Advantages Advantages Sarcasm - very amusing.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Everything else. It's the same old crap re-packaged and sold to us again.

Americans are honestly not used to dripping, insulting, and spiteful sarcasm. It is still a bit “taboo” here – in fact, when I make such commentary to people, many of them look at me with a confused air about them – because they think I’m being serious. Duh. Okay, so some Americans aren’t as witty as our UK friends – I’ll give us that. (In fact, some of the funniest material I’ve read in my lifetime has come from the UK – such as oh, I don’t know, Ciao perhaps?) Anyway… …I’m just kidding when I say that Anne ... more

Advantages Advantages It's brings a bit of originality to game shows

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some people get so worked up about something which isn't real

It’s the summer holidays. I’m bored. Very bored. I want to watch the Simpsons but I am a bit early. So I watch programme which – although I didn’t know it – would become one of 2000’s sensations. Called the Weakest Link, I watched with, much amusement as innocent and unsuspecting people are gunned down from the dizzy heights of stardom and fall to earth with a huge bump. And the woman wielding the gun? Miss Anne Robinson. Oh yes. Bizarrely, she has donned her black cloak and menacing glasses to become the biggest bitch in TV history. Oh dear… FROM KIND ... more

Advantages Advantages Anne makes the show intersting and the voting is compelling. Just a great quiz show.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

The quiz is competing with Who Wants To Be A Millionaire to see which is the the best quiz show in England at the moment in my opinion. I think both the shows are nerveracking and great but i don't know which one i like best. And both of the quizzes have totally different stragety. In The Weakest Link its about team work and WWTBAM is about working on your own, the presenters also have different personalties, Chris Tarrant is the presenter for WWTBAM and Anne Robinson is the prensenter for TWL, more about them later. Though both of the quizzes have catchy one liners. TWL one is 'You are The ... more

Advantages Advantages A different type of quiz show

Disadvantages Disadvantages Small amount of prize money on offer

INTRODUCTION ‘The Weakest Link’ has been one of the most successful quiz shows made by the BBC. It has been sold to many countries. It was created to rival the popularity of ITV1’s 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire'. At first it was shown on BBC2 in the afternoons. It soon began to get a cult following and the show was moved to a primetime slot on BBC1. The show is hosted by Ann Robinson who is deliberately rude to the contestants. ANN ROBINSON I first came across Ann Robinson from her regular column in the Daily Mail. She got a job hosting ‘Points of View’ on BBC1 ... more

    Advantages Advantages none

Disadvantages Disadvantages Boring, too much hype

Before I write this 'critique' of the TV Game show "The Weakest link" I should in all honesty point out that I hate game shows, so why did I watch this one in the first place?..well I was a teensy wee bit curious as to the appeal of the show. The papers I read were full of references to Ann Robinson and the show and I wanted to see for myself what it was all about. The first impression I had of the show was just how boring and tediously dull it all was, I carried on watching it hoping it would improve in some way, it didn't. Anne Robinson's efforts at being cruelly acerbic were unconvincing ... more
