BMW 320d M Sport Every person has their first car, it is a big moment in the person’s life as it is probably to date, the biggest purchase they have made (or had you parents make for you). That then, depending on your priorities in life, becomes your most treasured possession, more to some than...

“A cracker of a car”

published 01/08/2011

Handles well, comfortable, reliable, looks great

Miniscule boot

My current car is a BMW 320, it is (apparently) a D SE model and was first registered in 2002. This car is an automatic and (again, apparently) is in the saloon style, we've owned it for around six months now and although I've never had any leanings towards BMW I do think this car is a cracker. I...

Rear cabin space, Small boot

I ordered a 320D SE 1998cc 2002 model from my local BMW dealer in October 2001 for delivery in December 2001. I was impressed with the dealer (Dick Lovett), as the sales guy was not at all pushy but allowed me to take my time looking over the car and responded well to questions I raised. The...

A bit of turbo lag,and cabin vibration

This is my first diesel car. I didnt know what to expect! The car is one year old,i never buy new always nearly new. That way you will get the benefit of all the optional extras plus any depriciation that occurred. My 320d SE Touring came with leather, rain sensor, xenon light, automatic ,6 cd and...

This is my first BMW, and I am sorry to say my last. The 320d has a reputation for turbo failure, which I believe applies only to pre July 2003 models. This failure can happen at any time regardless of service history and so cannot be predicted or circumvented and is a widely publicised failure...

“Very pleased.”

published 21/02/2002

Refinement, performance, chassis, economy.

Awkward boot.

I have had this car for about 2 years and 25000 miles, following a 325tds (E36) and a Passat TDI 110. The engine is very quiet once warm, and gives excellent performance between 2000-4500rpm - although there is not much at very low speeds. On a twisty road or when overtaking, it is effortless...

Good Resale value, sporty, comfortable, sleek

Feels same as a much older model.

I bought a 2004 model 320DSE recently and am pleased to report it is a nice executive car. The 320D range start with a basic model then the ES then the SE and then of course the Mtec Sport. The level of goodies you get with the car go up with each model but they all driver the same apart from the...

Satisfactory

Purchased a new 320d M sport Sept 06, Customer service by Premier, Llandudno very poor and the same form BMW UK. Just there to take my £29k. Sport suspension seems to have the steering pulling all over the place at times even at high speed, could be the run flat tyres. I have done all that I can to get issue resolved yet BMW do not want to know. Car been back to dealership on 4 occassions not once offered a Courtesy Car only a coffee from a machine. I have always had Audi in the past and certainly will in the future. Customer service 10 times better. In addition the unbelievable loss on a new BMW is amazing do not buy new. Recently offered £10k less from dealer.

“A Sleek And Prestiges Car”

published 25/05/2008

It is lighter, better equipped, better performing

No disadvantages

You asked to define an iconic prestige car of the last 30 years, I would probably mention the BMW 3 Series. Five times. . They have all become benchmarks for whatever followed, standards by which rivals have been judged. Each has become more than the sum of its parts, a defining reference point...

Good

published 25/01/2008

Great drive, but in automatic, only getting 34 m.p.g around town. On motorways, over45 m.p.g. I bought mine when 1 year old, it came with most of the available extras, but sat nav disc did not have many of the newer roads, and is expensive to update. Biggest downfall is in snow, I was stranded on a hill unable to move, while a procession of astras, smart cars, mondeos etc swept past me! B.M.W's 4X4's ecepted really are a poor choice for freezing areas of Scotland!

“I forget it's a diesel :o)”

published 20/02/2004

Diesel economy without diesel feel

Fast depreciation and expensive servicing

This is such a great car. I do alot of miles and needed a diesel and it was the only thing on offer that was affordable (just!) that didn't sound like a taxi and drive like a tractor . . . plus it has excellent acceleration - especially noticeable at around 70 to 90 mph - and great handling. It...

Not for me

published 21/12/2008

Purchased 2007 BMW 320d auto in August. Returned to dealer within 1 week. Unbelievably bad engine noise between 20-50 mph with vibration. Perhaps I was unlucky but have subsequantly had bad experiences with 318 M Sport and 320i (harsh ride, loud tyre noise penetration to cabin). Cars not popular with passengers and family. Rear passenger space is poor. Very overrated car.
