BMW or Bavarian Motor Works is a large German car maker, that has been creating German engineering since July 1917. The icon of this Car Company has to be the BMW 3 Series. I will always remember the day, when I travelled to our nearest city, with my uncle, to collect a shiny new BMW Efficient...

“Outstanding 330d”

published 17/01/2003

Performance, Build Quality, Value, Price Retension

Not Much

Introduction In December I purchased a new BMW 330d SE 4 door saloon for £27,586 with automatic gearbox, leather seats, wood trim and CD autochanger. I must say this car is absolutely amazing. So far after six weeks and 2,500 miles I have had no problems at all. The build quality is excellent, no...

“Why I love this car”

published 27/03/2003

power, economy, ride, headroom (no sunroof)

Limited boot space, tyre wear

I am not going to give you all the technical facts and figures for the 330 D, but more what I have come to love about the car over the last 25,000 miles and 18 months, and why you will too. The only technical information I will give you is the model and specification I bought, which is a 330D SE...

A friend has been away on holiday for three weeks and asked me to look after his car after dropping him off at Gatwick. " What car are you driving now? " I asked, he seems to have a different car every other month, " Oh you're like it, its a chipped BMW 330D, " he replied. Now dont get me wrong...

“My 3rd BMW”

published 02/08/2002

Performance economy and comfort

It does not drive it self ( well not quite )

My first BMW was an old shape 12 year old 728i, even for its age it drove like a dream. I fell in love with BMW engineering. The second was a new shape 318i, this was my first out of the showroom BMW and it was great fun to drive. At the end of March the 318i went back to the lease company an I...

Speed, efficiency, luxury, need I go on?

Can't think of any!

When I test-drove this car, I was stunned! For starters, you would not know that it is a diesel powered car because it simply doesn't have the clutter in terms of noise coming from beneath the bonnet. Secondly,. whoever said that diesel cars cannot be quick obviously has not driven this yet! I...

Not for me

It's diesel does good miles for a 3.0 litre engine...

Very costly to maintain

Okay , every one seems to be raving about how good the BMW has been for them but lets keep it real, how many cars have problems under 40,000 miles the cars reliability comes after 70,000 mile on the clock and then ask the person how good the car has been and does it need any expensive repairs...

Power, Fuel, Speed

To be phased out soon

The 330d usheres in unheard of levels of performance for a diesel car with 0-60 acceleration time of under 8 seconds and a top speed of 141 mph. The new engine pumps out a massive 184 bhp and a stonking 288 lb/ft of torque (more than a BMW petrol 3.5 litre V8). The performance increase came...

Economy! Performance and handling

space, servicing, comfort

This car shows its real attributes when out on the open road. The big 3.0 diesel motor really delivers the grunt and this thing pulls like a train when it comes on boost. But surprisingly at no real cost to economy. Still happily returns at least 35mpg and will give at least 45mpg on a long...

“Have manual”

published 20/10/2009

great handling and looks

Auto is poor and eats fuel more

if you have decided to go for the 330d then you want the car for the reason of having a diesel for fuel consumption, so get a manual as Auto will hike up your mpg by about 8-9mpg, and to be honest im not keen on the auto in this car its not the best out there and gear change is sluggish i changed...

“330d SE Touring”

published 01/05/2006

Looks, economy, performance, build

cost, space

Just purchased a BMW 330D SE Touring to replace my ageing but quick Rover 620Ti - as wanted something quick, solid and cheap to run. The Beemer is all of that if not a bit steep on the purchase cost - however I should recoup this on resale. Build is superb, engine is solid and smooth, and sounds...

Not for me

published 24/07/2007

My review is on the 330 d m sport. The tyres are very low profile and this results in extremely poor handling. This is my third BMW and I am not happy with the driving experience. I would not recommend buying one unless you fancy fighting with the steering wheel every day. This applies to the 2004 models not the new 2006 models as they have sorted the handling issues out now
