Advantages: Quality car for a very reasonable 2nd hand price. Disadvantages: High fuel costs.
Very nice but not for today's world! Without doubt, if you want a car which encompasses luxury, speed, style and quality then this is the car for you. Of course, it is well built, it's a BMW, full of luxury and certainly in black is an eye-turner. Reliable too and requiring servicing relatively infrequently.
But, the fuel itself costs a small fortune. With the present petrol prices it's just too much. £80 of fuel gives you about 400 miles and that's ... ...more and you are looking at just over 10mpg. It's quick but because the car is so heavy don't be fooled into thinking it's only a step down from an M5 because it's not!
If you like driving as opposed from getting from A to B then find yourself a rarer manual version. The step-tronic box is good but nowhere near as fast at changing as newer cars and is not ideal for the proper driver as it is a little unpredictable. That said the Sport-setting is ...

If you are looking for performance without all the attendant warpaint or 'look-at-me' features of many so-called performance cars, and you need 4-door saloon practicality, then this may be the answer. Not as quick as an M5, of course, but cheaper, quieter, less thirsty, plus an automatic gearbox (there are a few manuals around too) - and in a body that is elegant (especially compared to the new model) and understated. The interior is also much more ... ...is smooth and refined, rising to a pleasant V8 growl if you really put your foot down, and you'll have little trouble keeping up with the traffic. The auto gearbox has a sport mode that delays up-shifts, and a semi-manual mode where you pick your own gear by flicking the gear knob forward or backwards. I use the sport mode for extra acceleration, e.g. when pulling onto a motorway, but only go semi-manual when I'm bored. Standard mode is fine most ...

The BMW 540i is very luxurious, at the same time lacks no capability of speed or power. When you put your foot down you know it, as going along the motorway for 2 hours every day to work i find it's imence acceleration exeeds most cars, therefore it owns the outside lane...
The seating is very comfortable, aswell as meny options for altering the seats to make sure you are comfortable while driving.
I have never had a problem with it, and if I ever ...

...is probarbly the best car BMW make. Using their legendary V8, enlarged from 4 litres to 4.4 litres, this is the building block of a pure sports saloon car. Unfortionatly, the top speed has been limited to 155mph, but if the limiter is removed, this car can rocket up to around 170mph. 0-62 in 6.2 seconds, it has the potential to put a Ferrari into the shade. It has a full leather interior with nearly everything you could ever want available on the ...

Advantages: Powerful, reliable, fast and very comfortable. Looks great too! Disadvantages: Possibly too large for regular city use...
...have recently bought a second-hand BMW 540i as an upgrade to a 325i convertible, and the difference is huge! The convertible was a fun, nippy, sporty car, while the 540 is a serious motor. It is an incredibly smooth drive, sleek and quiet, and although it is bigger than anything else I have driven, has a wider turning circle than other cars, and can be a tight squeeze in London traffic, it is an absolute joy to drive... especially on the motorway! ...

Ok, who on earth needs a car that has a perfectly good 2.5 litre engine equivelent - to have 4.4 litres?! Is there really any need>? Well apart from the very low miles per gallon - less than 27! There is a very powerful brute of a car lurking underneath this sleek and smooth esecutive beasty Motor. With 4.4 litres and a cracking V8 engine - the car simply flies - almost as quick as an M5 - without all the body kits - this is a very modest car. A ...
