It's a 1.6 Chrysler sourced engine fitted with a Roots supercharger which puts out around 163bhp and 0-60 comes up in 7.4 seconds. It's a very smooth engine where the supercharger only really comes on song (and audible with it's infamous whine) at 3500rpm. Maximum torque comes in at about 5500rpm and from this point to 7000rpm ...

My mini cooper – do I love it or hate it? I have had the little beauty now since the second week in January (so around 2 months as it is now mid March when I am writing this). The noise inside the car has meant I have either had to wear a pair industrial strength earplugs or crank the sound system up to 11 to drown it out.
