Advantages Advantages Excellent speech quality, handsfree operation

Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite chunky, and poor ring tones.

DECT is basically digital cordless telephone technology. In the past we have had corded phones, analogue cordless phones, and now DECT phones. My Dad is kinda obsessed with spending vast amounts of money every now and again, and one day he came home with 3 BT DECT phones. We plugged them all in and he was quite chuffed. *** THE CONCEPT *** You only have to have one available telephone socket in the house into which you plug a base station. When you supply this with electricity you can use up to 6 handsets with the same base station. These phones can then be used at up to 300m away from the ... more

Advantages Advantages a great cordless phone with good range

    Disadvantages Disadvantages can be pricey

Here's a natty little number from BT, yes I know me writing about a company I don't care for, however, I believe in credit where credit is due, and this phone is something I have had installed in our house for some 2 years now, and has worked perfectly throughout this period ecept for one set of Nicad batteries that needed changing, still not a bad record for such a well used item. -o0o- The System -o0o- You need one telephone socket to which the base station is connected from this base station you can remotley connect up to 6 other Diverse DECT Phones, you need to register these phones to the ... more

    Advantages Advantages Clear and portable

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some functions use non-obvious key sequences

I bought one of these phones a few months ago and have been very pleased with it. It is made by Siemens and badged by BT which perhaps accounts for the apparent excellent build quality. It works well all over the house and is very clear. It uses normal rechargeable AA batteries which should be relatively cheap to replace if they ever need to be and it works for days without being placed in the base unit. It feels pleasant and robust and, after drying out, even survived a brief submergence in my bath. BT and Argos are selling it for about £80 but you can buy them for about £60-65 on Tottenham ... more

Advantages Advantages Stylish, compact and excellent reception. Versatile.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Your teenage kids sneak it up to their room! Quirky menus.

I was never a great fan of cordless telephones due to the poor reception on our now defunct analogue Freeway. This digital unit has changed that view. It has excellent clarity and range and is packed with features. I particularily like the caller display (You'll need to have the facility turned on at the exchange.) Some of the menus are 'quirky' but OK once you get used to them. A friend who bought one purchased an additional handset and charger unit to install in the granny flat so his mother can not only take his calls when he's out but can feel safer knowing she has intercom access with her ... more

    Advantages Advantages Hands free, price

Disadvantages Disadvantages Only available in 1 colour

The Diverse 3010 Executive currently costs £99.99. If you do decide to buy it, don't just look at the BT shops, have a look around some other electrical retailers as you can sometimes get a better price, making it even better value for money. The size of handset is 16cm deep x 5.5cm wide x 2.8cm high The size of base station is 14.6cm deep x 11.7cm wide x 7 cm high The difference between a Digital telephone and an analogue one is the call clarity. With the digital telephones the call clarity is almost the same as a corded telephone, so funny little fuzzy noises in-between your conversations is ... more

Advantages Advantages digitally clear, good battery life, music on hold, internal switching of calls, 3 way calls

Disadvantages Disadvantages menu navigation needs a degree in rocket science

I recently purchased this handset for my mother, seeing as she complained about having to drag the old phone to her chair ( you know how long mothers take on the phone! ) so I bought her this lovely digital cordless phone instead. I chose digital over analogue as its more secure and cannot be overheard by snoopers with a RF scanner. The build of this handset is a sturdy one seeing as it is a semens phone :). The call quality is 99% superb 1% distorted but this is due to the fact this only occurs when I'm upstairs with the base-unit downstairs. the size and weight of the phone are perfect for ... more

Advantages Advantages Clear sound, excellent memory facility

Disadvantages Disadvantages A little pricy, cheesy hold music, unfriendly ring tones

We bought our phone a few weeks ago and have no problems - unlike with every other phone we have purchased! We have been through that many phones that we thought it was time to go digital. What a good idea! We have had no problems with signal and the sound is clear as a bell. We chose the Executive model as it has hands free on it which is great when we both want to talk to the person on the phone. The memory facility is second to none. We have our own little telephone directory which is so useful. The instructions are easy to follow and it makes sense to make full use of such a clever phone ... more

    Advantages Advantages Range is excellent

Disadvantages Disadvantages needs to be charged everyday

The BT Diverse 3010 is a handsfree digitally enhanced phone made by Siemens. It looks nice in black with a handy little belt clip for carrying about. I haven't actually bought one but have one in work and have been using it on a regular basis. I find that it is very clear and has some great features, with redial lists, address book and handsfree. One thing that I have always found to be very useful, although quite a small one, is that you can delete the numbers one at a time after entering them, - i.e, you type 01173 and you wanted 01179 you just delete the 3 and put 9, I guess this is common ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages a bit pricey

This product is great, we jhave to handsets tied to one base in a three bedroom house. the base sits on my desk in the office and the extension sits downstairs in the kitchen. I sit at my desk and work away and if I want something I call my wife downstairs and she fetches it for me (********** Rating for the wife) But better than that. If I am using the mobile and the phone rings she will answer it downstairs and transfer it to me upstairs. Now the SLUNKS have four (gasp) children all under six and the smallest slunk does tend to have a bit of a howl every now and then and we use the two ... more
