BT SOMETIME

AdvantagesNone

DisadvantagesBT Disconnects people for fun

"Anyone who is familiar with BT Internet will know this opinion isnít going to be singing any praises! Bt Internet charges customers £14.99 per month for their ďAnytimeĒ service. This service apparently allows customers to connect 24/7 - hence the name ďAnytimeĒ. What BT fails to make clear is that you are disconnected every 2 hours to allow others users to deter ďheavyĒ internet use. Dial-up users sometimes have to wait hours before they can connect ..." Gonnae No Go There? Gonnae No?

AdvantagesIn some remote places, BT is the only option

DisadvantagesThey know they are the only option

"...paid wads of ££ís to BT for their 24/7 Internet service. Alone, I must have part-funded a call centre in Delhi. Then in the summer of 04 (sorry, it doesnít have quite the same ring to it as 69), BT finally offered Broadband to this remote Highland community. (With great reluctance, and many delays, I must add.) Fitivver, I signed up for BT Broadband Ė thatís the middle option, between BT Broadband Basic and BT Yahoo Broadband. Basic didnít offer ..." Free to use if you don't do it too much

AdvantagesReasonable monthly price

DisadvantagesSince they decided I was a 'high' user too many

"...always been a fan of BT internet. I was one of their first customers to sign up when they released the free evenings and weekends access and have remained loyal ever since, including an upgrade to their Anytime package (£14.99/month) and a second BT line when we recently moved house. I had seldom encountered problems, but as a user of two ISP's rather than one, if I ever failed to connect on my first go with one, then I merely switched over to ..." Read review

The new BTopenworld with Btinternet

AdvantagesEverything you need is on hand.

DisadvantagesNone that I can see

"...your Mail Box, check your BT Phone Bill, change or add Friends & Family number and discounts. This special feature of BT.com is an added bonus, and will therefore require added security to access the page. Again the directions are simple to use. I check regularly on calls made since I received my last bill, this does not include discounts to rentals charges and etcetera. My phone bill records the amount in value but did not include calls made ..." Read review

.BT internet

Advantagesvery easy to install, three packages to choose from.

DisadvantagesYou get disconnected after every two hours.

"BT INTERNET When I got my new pc one of the first things I wanted to do was to get the Internet, so I kept asking my mum to get the internet and telling her about all the good prices on offer out there and that I really needed it for my home work (lol). Then about six months later she telephoned BT and asked them for one of their Internet installation disks. When the disk arrived in the post I had to install it because no body else knows much ..." BT good or bad, depends on some factors

AdvantagesFor me it is fast, cheap, efficient and reliable

DisadvantagesFor others it may not be, it's all relative to your exchange I'm afraid

"...today via an email from BT that they are to raise the price by £2. For £9.99 (or after 1st August £11.99) you get unlimited Internet use from 6pm until 8am in the morning. Weekends you are able to log on at anytime. I have read comments from people who have difficulty in connecting to BTinternet. I can only suggest that this is due to your local exchange. Connection ---------- Always first time I have found, though this is variable, ..." Read review

Similar to the others

AdvantagesUnmetered access (restricted)

DisadvantagesPoor email server, bad customer service, timeout after 2 hours

"...said, the main draw towards BT Internet is the free evening and weekend calls in conjunction with their Surftime service. If, like me, you pay the Surftime on your BT phone bill, then you get free internet calls between 6pm and 8am weekdays, and all weekend. However if perhaps you donít have a BT line then you cannot pay it on your phone bill, and therefore must use a credit card. The disadvantage of this, besides actually having to own a credit card, ..." Read review

Is This Perfection - ISP QUEST III

AdvantagesAffordable, pay on a monthly basis, currently available to customers of any phone company

DisadvantagesPayment by Visa/Delta or Mastercard only, need to be a BT phone customer from April to use the service

"...on searching and found that BT was starting up a new package some time in January offering 24/7 free call access for a monthly fee. I signed up for notification of this but kept looking. ~ Then I came across Freeserve also offering a service called Anytime but at a cheaper rate than BTInternet so I signed up for that one. All well and good for a few days, but then the problems started. (I will be reviewing this service soon). So, when on the 26th ..." Read review

This is how internet access should be

AdvantagesFixed rate access, 24/7, £14.99 a month

DisadvantagesNone at present

"...to actually use the service. Then BT invented a special internet rate called Surftime which was supposed to make it cheaper for ISP's to offer 24/7 access, but again this was flawed. People who used the services for more than 4-5 hours per day were costing the ISp's money, so were kicked off of the service, even though they were only using a service for which they had paid. (Force 9) Finally BT, forced by AOL & OFTEL, offered a new rate for ..." Read review

ISDN Service No Good

AdvantagesFree at weekends, after 6

DisadvantagesSlow, no good for games

"I have been using the BT Internet ISP for internet access for a couple of years now. I first started using it with a 33.6 kbps modem, and it performed reasonably well for the hardware I had - about 3kb/sec downloads. Then I moved on to a 56 kbps modem - and I have about 4kb/sec downloads. Quite recently (about 3 months ago) we moved house, and asked for BT Home Highway to be installed. (This service offers a combination of 2 digital/analogue hybrid ..." Read review

Dont hesitate use NTL

AdvantagesIf i find one I'll let you know

DisadvantagesIt's just taken me 2 hours to logon

"BT Internet, the worst ISP in the world ever? I’m not entirely sure, as I’m aware of many ISPs that perform equally as badly. But this one I’ve just about had enough, and I’ve only been signed up with them for 3 weeks! Anyone who has read my ops on BT and NTL will know that I’m no fan of the nearly bankrupt former monopoly of the telecomms world. But the past 7 days has seen what tiny little bit of faith I had in them ..." Read review

Bt - for once excellent

Advantagesfast connection good value for money.

Disadvantagesnone

"The BT surftime package I have been with for some 6 months now is in my opinion excellent value for money and has saved me around £30.00 per quarter based on my phone bills prior to this. The dial up speed for my 56k modem normally gets as high as 44kbps and I have never had an engaged tone in all the time I have used it. When the surftime option first came up, it was offered by Bt separately to the ISP, i.e. you could use your existing dial ..." Read review

Slow and unreliable and now more of a rip off

Advantagestoo few

Disadvantagestoo many

"I've been using Bt internet for about a year now, and although I was pleased at first, having shopped around a bit and learned a little more, I'm growing more and more annoyed with BT everyday. For nearly £10 a month, I can go on the net from 6pm until 12am weekdays, and all day on weekends, however for the same £10 a month paid on the phone bill (not the credit card as I do) you can surf until 8am the following day. Apart from that, the connection ..." Read review

Surprisingly Great ISP - REVISED

AdvantagesFree evening & weekend Internet calls

DisadvantagesSlightly annoying when you get cut off after 2 hours

"I've been with BT Internet for coming on a year now, and I have to say I've had no problems whatsoever with dial ups or connection speeds infact they've been excellent. PACKAGE: I signed up because at the time they were one of the few who were offering a £9.99 per month package offering free evening (6pm >12am) and weekend internet calls. This has brought my telephone bill down considerably from £160 to £80 a quarter. DIAL UPS: I've ..." Read review

Enough is Enough

Advantages0800 access, good when it works

Disadvantagesconnection failures, mail intermittent, slow at times

"...all you who are on BT and know LOL ), and then there is the diabolical download speeds that BT try to pass off as the normal for their service - try 1 k on a good 56k connection and thats on a good day. Secondary there is intermittent faults with the e-mail servers causing mail access failures. BTI have also decided to ban a few major free mail providers from mailing people on BTI (BIGFOOT being one), and the delivery of mail is also problematic ..." Read review
