...paid wads of ££’s to BT for their 24/7 Internet service. Alone, I must have part-funded a call centre in Delhi. Then in the summer of 04 (sorry, it doesn’t have quite the same ring to it as 69), BT finally offered Broadband to this remote Highland community. It appears I am severiously in debt because along with my Broadband charges, I’m still being charged for the dial-up connection which ...

Advantages: None Disadvantages: BT Disconnects people for fun
Anyone who is familiar with BT Internet will know this opinion isn’t going to be singing any praises!
Bt Internet charges customers £14.99 per month for their “Anytime” service. This service apparently allows customers to connect 24/7 - hence the name “Anytime”. What BT fails to make clear is that you are disconnected every 2 hours to allow others users to deter “heavy” internet use. Dial-up users sometimes have to wait hours before they can connect ... ...no data is being transferred, BT disconnects your modem! Because of the 2 hour cut off it is very difficult to download files without the use of a download manager which supports the “resume” function. I think BT fails to realize that the Internet is not in existence solely for the purpose of viewing pictures and text on a web page. As I am a web designer I use the Internet quite frequently, both morning and night. Searching through my E-mail Inbox ...

BT INTERNET
When I got my new pc one of the first things I wanted to do was to get the Internet, so I kept asking my mum to get the internet and telling her about all the good prices on offer out there and that I really needed it for my home work (lol). ...them all very similar.
BT Internet is the latest in my line of ISP’s. I was mainly drawn to them for the unmetered internet access. To be fair, I cannot really praise or criticise them properly, because I find most providers the same.
As I said, the main draw towards BT Internet is the free evening and weekend calls in conjunction with their Surftime service. If, like me, you pay the Surftime on your BT phone bill, then you get free internet calls ... ...perhaps you don’t have a BT line then you cannot pay it on your phone bill, and therefore must use a credit card. The disadvantage of this, besides actually having to own a credit card, is that the free calls are only from 6pm-midnight weekdays. I, myself, would find this most inconvenient as I often use the internet after midnight.

Then BT invented a special internet rate called Surftime which was supposed to make it cheaper for ISP's to offer 24/7 access, but again this was flawed. People who used the services for more than 4-5 hours per day were costing the ISp's money, so were kicked off of the service, even though they were only using a service for which they had paid. Advantages: Free at weekends, after 6 Disadvantages: Slow, no good for games
I have been using the BT Internet ISP for internet access for a couple of years now.
I first started using it with a 33.6 kbps modem, and it performed reasonably well for the hardware I had - about 3kb/sec downloads. Then I moved on to a 56 kbps modem - and I have about 4kb/sec downloads.

You'd think that with a 64 kbps connection you'd get a pretty good improvement, right? Wrong! I barely ever see those 4kb/sec download speeds anymore. If a website doesn't load for me, I might have to disconnect to switch ISPs - and then surprise surprise; it loads almost instantly.
It's not any good for gaming, either. There might be some quick periods but every so often you'll get a whole ...

BT Internet, the worst ISP in the world ever? I’m not entirely sure, as I’m aware of many ISPs that perform equally as badly. But this one I’ve just about had enough, and I’ve only been signed up with them for 3 weeks!

Advantages: fast connection good value for money. Disadvantages: none
The BT surftime package I have been with for some 6 months now is in my opinion excellent value for money and has saved me around £30.00 per quarter based on my phone bills prior to this.
The dial up speed for my 56k modem normally gets as high as 44kbps and I have never had an engaged tone in all the time I have used it.

I've been using Bt internet for about a year now, and although I was pleased at first, having shopped around a bit and learned a little more, I'm growing more and more annoyed with BT everyday.
For nearly £10 a month, I can go on the net from 6pm until 12am weekdays, and all day on weekends, however for the same £10 a month paid on the phone bill (not the credit card as I do) you can surf until 8am the following day.
Apart from that, the connection ... ...the answer is simple:
BT have a monopoly on the Internet - other companies offering FREE access are folding every day. I was going to leave them and go with Liberty surf for £20 a year, but like others they folded and now only offer 4 free hours a month (what can you do with 1 hour of surfing per week?). Alta vistas free offer also proved too good to be true, others are too expensive, and when I inquired about NTL, which actually sounds like a good ...

I've been with BT Internet for coming on a year now, and I have to say I've had no problems whatsoever with dial ups or connection speeds infact they've been excellent.
