****BT Quartet 1500**** In our buisy household the telephone seldome stops ringing and with 5 of us milling around ,and always on the go we decided it might be very handy to buy a cordless telephone. One of our requirements would be to have an answer machine too for those important calls when we are out. We had previously had a couple of different cordless telephones but with varying degrees of success. One had met an untimely demise upon it's third bounce on the floor, the other was relegated to the loft after its appaling reception had driven us mad for long enough. But as technology had moved ... more

Advantages Advantages with cordless phones you can walk around while you talk

Disadvantages Disadvantages breaks easily, only can walk a certain distance from the base unit

BT QUARTET 1500 I bought these last year as I needed an answering machine and this phone had one built in. I also bought an additional handset for another room in the house. At the time that they were bought they looked smart and stylish. I bought them in white as they were on offer at around £70.00 at my local BT shop in the City Centre. After only a few weeks the buttons became orangey and grubby. I do wear face powder but not foundation on my skin so the rubber buttons were picking up the dirt very easily. After a few months the top of the aerial on the additional handset accidentally ... more

Advantages Advantages compact and stylish, good reception

    Disadvantages Disadvantages analogue not digital

This cordless phone isnt the fanciest on the market but its definitely a good choice. I have this model in silver with an additional handset. It has basic functions, 10 memory and 2 speed dial, an intercom/paging facility between the base unit and handsets, redial button, 1471 button and a secrecy button which plays a tune to the other person when you select it. The answering machine unit is nice and compact too. It has several mailboxes ideal if you have a family who are always getting calls, callers can deposit voicemessages in the box for a specific person so you dont have to trawl through ... more

Advantages Advantages Can use anywhere in the house

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor reliability, poor audio quality

I got this cordless phone/answerphone as a present last Christmas. It comes with an answerphone base station and two handsets. The second handset has a small small mains charger. The handsets themselves are very large for a cordless phone these days, somewhat indicative of their analogue technology. Antennas have to be raised on the phones before you can talk to anyone - and this can make them inconvenient to use. They are however a nice modern looking shade of silver. Positioning of the base station is also important, but not always convenient. BT suggest that the basestation should not be ... more

Advantages Advantages Use anywhere around the home

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Unreliable

My wife bought this phone to enable us to have a answering macine and also because we wanted one that we could use all over the house. At first we though the phone was grat, we could sit outside in the summer and have the handset by our side. But our opinion chaned as you will see. The phone is compact enough and fitted neatly on our thone table in the hall. The handset is a bit bulky compared to some of the other cordless on the market. As I said at first we thought the phone was great but after a while it started to go wrong. Firstly we started to get a buzzing sound on the line and then it ... more
