Advantages Advantages quite cheap for fourteen hours per day

    Disadvantages Disadvantages slower connection time

Well, some of the opinions on here are about BT Internet surftime, but BT have changed it all, and this is what it is NOW all about. First of I think it is important to write about my circumstances before going into too much depth about the service. I had been with BT Internet for some months, I paid £9.99 for evening and weekend access. I knew that the surftime package was available, but as it only offered the same hours except with the evening access extended to 8am, but as I do not go on the net much after 12am, and not before 8am, I did not see the point in changing things, as it would ... more

    Advantages Advantages Rarely faulty

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can get slow sometimes

I first joined the BT Surftime package during June of the year 2000, about that time there was all the buzz of BT creating unmetered packages available for a set price. Probaly a good move as more and more households were accessing the worldwide web. If my memory serves me correct, sign up was a breeze. All I had to do was visit the btinternet site and have my phone bill handy, the step by step options took me through the rest. One of the reasons I found this package suitable for me is because its charged through the phone bill. Also the off peak times suit me as I only use the net at night ... more

Advantages Advantages Fast connexion; easy to set up

Disadvantages Disadvantages Disconnect after 2 hrs; unreliable e-mail service.

We signed up to BTInternet Surftime last August and overall, service has been satisfactory. Compared to our previous ISP, LineOne, it is nothing but at the time LineOne was not on SurfTime, or if it was they had not done as promised and contacted us. We decided therefore to go with BTInternet, because the user-friendly way in which the bill came with the phone bill appealed, and because since BT Internet is with BT, it should be fairly reliable. First impressions were favourable -- a good connection speed (which I still obtain almost all the time) of 49,333bps, an e-mail name I wanted, rather ... more

    Advantages Advantages Good reliablility

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Costs you money

BT Surf Time is another one of many internet packages offered by BT. It allows you to surf the interbet off-peak (6pm to 8am weekdays and 6pm till 8am Monday at weekends). ***CONNECTION /RELIABILITY*** Connection to Bt internet is always relatively good, every time it connects. There have been a few instances over the year in which it just wouldn’t connect, but a few times in a year is nothing much to complain about. Connection is always quick, and the dial-up software never has to re-dial. This is one impressive point about BT internet, it’s never says that it’s too busy for ... more

Advantages Advantages free internet calls, no seperate bill - added to your BT bill

Disadvantages Disadvantages different options can be confusing to begin with

Internet Service Providers, or ISPs as we hear them called - we all use them, and hence, there are hundreds of them to choose from. Some are good, offering a reliable and consistent level of service, whilst others are appalling (see my opinion about my experiences with RedHotAnt and you will see). This opinion is about BT and their internet-ready services, including their 'Surf' packages and their ISP - BT Internet. Ever since RedHotAnt jumped ship with their up-front yearly payment for unlimited internet access, I've been using BT Internet alongside one of BTs 'Surf' packages. Another reason ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Aspen reckons it's sh*te, but you may have a different view.

So asks the pop-up. Which - forgive me - has f*ck all to do with BTsurftime. In my humble opinion. But what do I know? After all, so many of these big companies are inter-related . . . Except that, when you sign up for BTsurftime, suddenly you are bombarded with unsolicited boiler questions. Forgive me for being a cynic, but as a new recruit to BTsurftime, I do wonder why I am plagued. Once upon a time, in a land of big skies, howling winds, and unruly marauding Teuchters*, there lived an Aspen. This land was in deepest, darkest Scotland, and was known by few, other than intrepid oil ... more

    Advantages Advantages Free Online Time

    Disadvantages Disadvantages The BT Curfew

BT SURFTIME is most probably the most easiest more relaxed way to weigh out those phone bills, for just £9.99 a month you are eligible to receiver free internet time, on Mon, Tue, Wed, and Thu from 6pm straight through to 8am the next day for example Mon 6pm-Tues 8am, and so on. Once you get to Friday you get the online access free from 6pm right thru to 8am on a Monday making all weekend online access free. I've found this service very, very useful as I spend a lot of time online a sit is, and this has really helped balance the cost of my phone bill. By calculations this free time designated ... more

    Advantages Advantages difficult one this

Disadvantages Disadvantages access speed vs cost, bt policy for the future

I have been on the internet for a couple of years now and through that time I've been with BT - first with BT Internet and now with BT Surftime. Over time I've become more and more concerned with the speed of connection I achieve with BT. When I lived the other side of town, I managed to get a connection of about 40kbps whenever I logged onto BT Internet. Not bad... very good at the time in fact. Not so long ago I moved house.. again still with BT Internet. Suddenly my access speed dropped and I was getting around 33kpbs. I asked BT why this was - apparently its to do with the type of phone ... more

Advantages Advantages Free unlimited evings and weekends, not such a shock well the bill comes

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bit slow nown again, customer service is terrible

I have only just signed up for BT Surftime and I’ve gone through my little experiences with BT, let me tell you. The reason why I wanted to go with BT Surftime was because my Internet phone bill was becoming ridiculously high. I was sick of my phone bill coming through to me in the three letter digits. So I decided to go with BT Internet, I don’t yet know weather it was a good idea or not. I picked up one of their cd’s in a shop; I inserted it and followed the instructions. I have never read through such a complicated setup before, BT Internet is aimed at people that have the ... more

Advantages Advantages Free evening & weekend Internet and telephone calls

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Hidden extras

Along with everyone else, we signed up for an unlimited Internet package last Summer. We bought a £20 disc at Comet for the Libertysurf service, which offered free evening and weekend Internet calls. This worked really well for a couple of months, so we decided to upgrade to Libertysurf’s Unlimited package – just an extra £35 for a whole year of free Internet calls. This worked well on about 1 occasion out of 10, which isn’t a bad ratio for a free ISP. We are still with them and find we can connect pretty well during the morning, but afternoons are more difficult and evenings ... more
