1st came the clothes and now the paint, what next

DisadvantagesNone

"...does not state it is B&Q paint but as I have only found these paints at B&Q, I figure this is the best place to put this up. I got my DIY head on again, we have done the floor, painted the walls and put up dado rail just one thing left to do, the ceiling. Originally we wanted to paint the ceiling silver, yep I hear you all thinking have you both lost the plot. No not really, we just wanted to be a bit different in at least one of our rooms ..." Good Paint In Pretty Colours

AdvantagesGood value, pretty colours, covered the old paint well

DisadvantagesNone

"...Half took us up to B&Q to have a look at the paint. One room was going to be for the eldest grandson and the other room which is a large room was going to be shared between the other grandson and and my granddaughter. It is a big enough room to be able to sort of partition it off so that he could have one side for him and she could have the other side. We found a range of B&Q coloured emulsions which they call Funky Co which had three lovely colours, ..." Read review

Colours Everywhere paint colours everywhere

AdvantagesSticks like bad news

DisadvantagesNot enough colours in the range

"...of colour at my local B&Q with a tetchy two year old, I had to make a fast decision. So blue it was, as I liked the B&Q Everywhere shade so much, in Satin. (It's a very bright, French Blue). With my paint pad (see Everything starting with P - painting op) I began to apply the paint. Wow! One coat on new plaster with a dark colour is quite an achievement. Further to this achievement, the colour is fabulously glossy, and obviously very wipe-clean. ..." Read review

Excellent Product

AdvantagesThick, covers the darkest tone in one coat, cheaper than 'brands'

Disadvantagesnone

"I cannot rave enough about this paint! I recently spruced up our house prior to selling it and as my taste is somewhat on the zany side I 'neutralised' many of the brighter and darker colours by going over them with paler brighter colours. My bedroom was mid to dark blue colourwash with great big white daisies with pink centres as decoration. There was also a large 'big top' wiggly pink painted border round the room near the ceiling. I ..." Read review

PAINT MANIA

AdvantagesGreat price

DisadvantagesHad to use two coats

"...when it comes to browsing B&Q for paint, I'm a very hyper-active child in a sweet shop. I live in a rented house whose walls are all the same the cream colour with a grainy wood-chip texture. So when I decided to add some colour I had a million ideas including varying shades of colour and pattern. Back down on planet earth I decided a plain colour would suit it best. I was astonished at the price of a tin of paint these days so I went for the ..." Read review

Superb!

AdvantagesSuperb coverage. Only one coat needed. Rich finish.

DisadvantagesNone

"...comparisons we decided on the B&Q One Coat vinyl silk 'Colours' range. We found that it represented superb value for money for the amount of paint to price ratio, and for the sheer expance of choice there was in the colours too. After using the 'One Coat' on our walls, (and it really only was one coat),we were over the moon with the results. The smoothness of the paint was amazing, as was the richness of the colour. I cannot recommend this product ..." Read review

Advantagesgood colour, Quick drying

Disadvantagescan buy cheaper paint

"B&Q paint the range for 2000, looking for a bright matt colour i chose B&Q vinyl Matt Emulsion, they have a good selection of colours and I found what I was looking for. Anyone who has painted a lot knows its more about coverage and how it looks on the wall rather than in the tin. The pain guide is and excellent guide to the colours and the colour i picked was almost identical. The approximate coverage they quote on their guide is 12 metres suqared ..." Read review

Nice colour - fragile finish

Advantagesnice colour, good price

Disadvantageseasily marked

"...decided to redecorate, we chose B&Q coloured emulsion over other brands purely for reasons of colour, the particular shade we wanted was best matched by the B&Q brand (without using custom-mixed paints). We bought the vinyl matt from the B&Q colours range. The price is good at £7.98 (?) per 2.5 l pot. The colour used was Storm Blue, I mention this in case the problem described below is colour-specific. The paint is easy to use, dries evenly and ..." Read review

good stuff

Advantagescovers well

"...plonked down 5 litres of B&Q colours 'deep rose' vinyl matt emulsion. I wasnt happy, but got on with because it was my first day on the job. After about 20mins of doing the 'cutting in' I had changed my mind. This paint is low-odour,its nice and thick so it doesnt splash all over the place, and it covers really well.It took 2 coats to cover up the yellow and it dried really well too. I had to allow four hours between coats, but by the time I had ..." Read review

great paint

Advantagesgreat coverage and choice of colours

Disadvantagesnone

"B&Q colour emulsion is absolutely fantastic, tey are available in a vast array of colours, there are literaly hundreds of different coloured paints all available in different shades ranging from pastels to bright and vibrant colours. It costs £9.99 for a 2.5 liter tub of this paint or £12.99 for a 5 liter tub, one 2.5 liter tub is big enough to cover a small bedroom, bathroom or kitchen. The paint is very thick so doesnt drip everywhere, goes on ..." Read review

B&Q Emulsion Coloured

Advantagescheap to buy

Disadvantagesseveral coats are often required toget the desired effect

"I decorated my house about six months ago and used this product extensively throughout my house. This paint comes in a range of sizes which make it ideal for painting various sized rooms or even just for touching in. I purchased several large containers as well as the medium sized tubs and found that they were excellent value for money overall. With other budget brands I have found that sometimes they are much cheaper than the market leading brands ..." Read review

Don`t go with brands....go with B&Q

AdvantagesWonderful coverage and vibrant colour.

DisadvantagesDrying time isn`t as quick as some more costly brands.

"We purchased our home in 2011 and decided shortly after to decorate. Its a new build so all smooth walls and huge landings that require a lot of paint! We chose several colours from B&Qs own range, red for the Lounge, blue for the Family Room, brown for the kitchen and bathroom and creams for the landings. All covered brilliantly, we had purchased a branded more expensive paint for the hall as its only a relatively small space...but after 3 coats ..." Read review
