Advantages Advantages Quality Finish, Good Value, Nice Finishing Touches

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor Delivery, Complicated Premium Drawers

The category of this review (B&Q flat pack kitchens) is probably not the terms B & Q would choose themselves. They prefer the more seductive title of “IT Kitchens”, which differentiates their current range from anything which has gone before it. Previously you had a number of choices when buying from B&Q. You could buy the cheap take away kitchen off the shelf and bundle them into your car, or opt for the more expensive stuff in the showroom. This approach has now been ditched in favour of the new “IT” brand, where all the kitchens available are fully interchangeable with one another. You ... more

B&Q Kitchens Dear readers… you are about to embark on a terrifying journey… the terrible story of one man, one kitchen, and an awful lot of hassle… ------------------ Introduction ------------------ B&Q make kitchens. So do Homebase, Ikea etc. My wife and I decided to purchase a kitchen at B&Q as, after working out what units we wanted and what we would need, it worked out at the cheapest deal. We decided to do-it-ourselves. This is HUGELY less expensive than an installed Kitchen, but of course much more difficult to do. In fact hugely more difficult if you use B&Q. Why? Because you have to ... more

Advantages Advantages Very modular design, easy to combine units and fixtures together

Disadvantages Disadvantages Let down by the inability of the companies to work together!

We're just at the end of a kitchen nightmare courtsey of B&Q. We ordered from their IT range, with the Speedstone Quartz worktops, and from the beginning have been amazed by their incompetence, right from The B&Q designer forgetting to order the survey, to the subcontracted woman who completed the survey (5 minutes with a tape measure is NOT a survey!) to the 2 month wait for a delivery. But once work "started" our problems got worse. It turns out there are 3 or 4 companies all trying to work together but failing miserably. Rok was controlling it, but subcontracted the work out to another ... more

Advantages Advantages Low prices, Kitchen designer help

Disadvantages Disadvantages Delivery is a farce, quality isn't great on the 'it' range

** Choosing the supplier ** Back in January, we took the plunge and started hunting for the new kitchen we had been dreaming of. I had received bad reports from two sources on B&Q's ability to deliver anything as a complete item, so naturally they weren't our first choice. So why, you must be asking yourselves, did we end up choosing them to supply our kitchen? Well the simple truth is cost. Magnet kitchens were just far beyond our budget and MFI's quote came in at about twice as much; plus they came across too much like scary salesmen. So I came to the conclusion that if was just a question ... more

Advantages Advantages Good value for money. Wide choice of units, styles and accessories.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Planning service, lack of knowledgable staff.

In 2003, I decided to fit out our kitchen (approx. 8 square metres) using B&Q "IT" units and appliances. I intended to do all the work myself, and was reasonably experienced, having fitted out 3 or 4 kitchens previously. I purchased the kitchen direct from B&Q's Nursling Branch (a larger branch with the majority of kitchen items in stock) and transported it home and fitted it myself. The kitchen is a combination of units (wall and floor), with Birch veneer doors and a granite effect worktop. I also installed an integrated Whirlpool fridge/freezer in a tall cabinet. Ordering: As I had some ... more

On returning from holiday last week, I found a rather fat cheque in the post from a car accident last year, and decided to get on with some long overdue home improvements, starting with the kitchen. I've tried to scrub mine until it looks new, but you cant make a silk purse out of a pig's ear! I even invited the mother-in-law round to see if she could put a spell on it, but after much chanting and stone-chucking, it looked no different. I reckon she has watched too many Harry Potter films, and is trying to relive her childhood...... So I sobered the wife up with a cup of hot coffee, and off we ... more

i managed to get a real bargain with the flat pack b& q kitchens as we bought them when they had 50% off a couple of months ago. after spending a lot of time picking from their range of kichens which is quite good and has different things to suit different styles and budgets, we decided on the contemporay maple style, Now our kitchen has been fitted i think it looks really nice, however there were a couple of kitchen doors that when we got home and unpacked they had got cracks down. I think this may have been that they had been dropped in the warehouse. B&Q were more than happy to exchange the ... more

B&Q are nice places to walk round, it gives you ideas for your property and one things that helps alot is the Kitchen section, now most / all of B&Q's range are flatpack, which means you pay they deliver and then off you go putting together your new kitchen. The range I bought was a pretty much simple range design and was basic. I went for the carcase option in countryways, this limed oak style kitchen takes on a truely individual character. Product Specification Carcase Material - White melamine faced chipboard conforming to British Standards requirements. Lipping - 0.4mm taped edge. Hinges ... more

1 Star Quick review of B&Q Flatpack Kitchen by penton1110 23/11/2007
B&Q kitchens are very good value for money considering the excellent quality. Their design and orderirng service is also extremely good. BUT their delivery service and customer service is absolutely atrocious and for this reason I strongly advise other potential customers to avoid them like the plague. I will not bore you with the details as this would turn into a novel but suffice it to say do not plan on receiving your kitchen on time,as one complete delivery or undamaged!! If you want your kitchen within a reasonable time scale - of under 3months- do not touch them with a ... more

    Advantages Advantages Not many

Disadvantages Disadvantages customer service, ordering system, delivery, staff competence

I'm afraid I've had an appauling level of customer service from B&Q and to put simply, don't buy a kitchen from them unless you enjoy lots of grief and items not turning up on time. The product itself is not bad and fairly easy to put together. Their range is pretty good and once installed you should be fairly happy with the results. But its getting to that point which is the problem. I chose to fit the kitchen myself, since I've already done a few previoulsy and it removing the need to use their somewhat poor installtion service However the level of customer service leaves an awlful lot to be ... more
