    Advantages Advantages Cheap, nice appearance.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some boards not cut perfectly straight so tricky to fit.

Easi-loc by name but not easi-loc by nature! The first two rows went down easily but trouble started on row 3. The problem was that not all the boards are cut entirely straight, which meant it was very difficult for adjacent rows to fit properly (some were very slightly convex and some very slightly concave). Over the whole floor, this caused slight gaps in either the middle or one of the ends to occur, and made it very difficult to get the boards to lock together. Our solution was to find boards whose facing edge would match the previous one (judging by eye). Also a lot of brute force to ... more

    Advantages Advantages Easily available

Disadvantages Disadvantages Most difficult to fit

I have just spent most of the weekend with my son fitting B&Q Easi Loc Flooring to a room measuring no more than 15' x 10'. "Easi Loc", what a misnomer! I am very experienced at all aspects of DIY work. I had no hesitation in reccommending Floor master laminate from B&Q having fitted it single handed in my kitchen and hallway 7 years ago. It went down very easily, the boards really did "click" into place, and we are pleased with the appearance and durability, even surviving a minor flood when a sink overflowed. However our experience this time was totally different. The first row was OK, but ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages cheap rubbish

Having decided to replace our carpet in our living room with laminate flooring, we were attracted to a "special purchase" being offered for sale at our local B&Q.We were on a budget. We duly measured up the room and went along and spent £200 on beech effect flooring. We followed ALL the enclosed instructions, storing the packs at room temperature before laying etc. the day came to begin the job of laying, we cleared the (rather large) room of carpet and contents and began the job. In a total of 6 hours we managed to get 3 planks together, any more would just not fit together. We went to bed ... more

5 Stars Quick review of B&Q Flooring by XanXav 17/12/2007
I laid an easy loc floor recently after laying several in the past using B&Q and another well known stores flooring but hadn't laid one for a couple of years. After laying the first row I had trouble laying the second row, then the third so I scratched my head for a bit, believing they'd changed the flooring from earlier incarnations before i decided to reluctantly read the instructions (why do that when i'm an "expert" right?) and within literally seconds I remembered the technique and I finished a 4 metre by 4 metre room in 2 hours. I can see ... more

1 Star Quick review of B&Q Flooring by elsaruby 29/09/2007
just fitted Floormaster aqualoc to my kitchen, dining room and conservatory. It was not easy even for me a joiner. I have now discovered that it has ' bubbled' in several places possibly due to a spillage or her indoors mopping it, went back to B and Q and I am told that it is not under warranty for spillage.... Amazing since it is AQUALOC for bathrooms and kitchens etc. They have'nt heard the last of me !...

Advantages Advantages easily available, reasonable price, very easy to assemble

Disadvantages Disadvantages only available in one size so some waste

Due to an unfortunate leak in the toilet the unit needed replacing and after getting a good quote for supplying and fitting new toilet the only thing I had to do was replace the floor covering! As a frequently failed DIY candidate the thought of disconnecting a toilet, ripping up a wet floor covering, then preparing and laying a floor in an hour (small toilet!) did not fill me with optimism. I visited B&Q, selected 4 lengths (£5.99 each) of bathroom laminate, underlay and edging. I cut the various elements to the right (hopefully) length/size the night before and then removed the toilet the ... more

    1 Star B&Q Tile Loc 29/07/2007
    User doesn't recommend the product

    Advantages Advantages None

Disadvantages Disadvantages Impossibly diffcult to lay and very poor results.

B&Q Floormaster Tile Loc laminate is the worst laminate flooring I have ever tried to lay. However their design range is very good and there is an excellent DVD you can purchase if you have never laid laminate before, which goes through all the necessary steps. But that's about as good as it gets. I have successfully laid laminate floors before without any problems. I did everything by the book (B&Q's DVD) but found it was incredibly difficult to fit the boards together and get a seamless joint. It took me 5 hours to lay just 5 boards, even then I could just not get them to marry up properly ... more

Advantages Advantages easy to lay, good service and return system

Disadvantages Disadvantages can chip easily, laminate quadrant awful

A year and a half ago we were set to move to an empty 2 bedroom flat. The flat was carpeted throughout, except the bathroom and kitchen which were vinyl tiles. The carpets were quite gross on close inspection and we decided to change them. After seeing how expensive this was going to be, we went to B&Q in New Malden and found a huge selection of wooden floors. We plumped for the Floor LOC Beech Effect flooring, which is one of the laminate floors. This consists of a tough resin which covers a photograph of the beech effect underneath, with a MDF like compressed wood underneath that. I bought ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to lay, no special tools needed.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Low quality control, easily damaged.

The flooring goes together like it says on the box. The planks are quite straight and the laying, once you figure how to get around obstacles is straightforward. The need to engage a plank at 45 degrees is irritating. I chose to remove all skirting boards and the door frame facings to ease the task. So far I have rejected about four planks (10%) for damage received in transit. A further 4 planks were lifted after they developed small chips along one edge. The interlock is very easy to damage. I have used Homebase laminate in a previous job. I will return to Homebase next time. I would not ... more

Advantages Advantages nice, clean, shiny, easy maintenance

Disadvantages Disadvantages breaks too easy, is always freezing cold.

I am a big fan of laminated flooring, I always have been. Its cheap, looks very nice, cleans easily. There is however a downfall to all this. The cold! Over this winter, which has had to of been the worst for many years, our house has been rather cold. It is down to the fact we have laminated flooring all over the downstairs of our house. Every morning, and indeed allday and night long it stays cold. We changed from nice warm comfortable carpets, to laminated flooring knowing the simplicity of putting it down and how great it looked, but, we have since bought rugs for every room that has it ... more
