...I became a customer of B & Q, as influenced, ( not at all ), by their slogan, ' You can do it, when you B & Q it.' but solely because of the fact that I possessed no tools whatsoever, apart from the odd screwdriver and it was recommended to me by my colleagues as the place to shop.

Enough of this, let me get down to the nitty gritty reason for this review.
My local warehouse store have just re-launched itself following an extensive refurbishment, something I believe has happened in other such stores and is still happening in all parts of the United Kingdom.
We visited the re launch of our local store today and to say the ...

Hi guys...
Well,I don't know if it's because I am fast approaching pre-menopausal age but I am finding B&Q very difficult to stumble around eversince my local ware house decided to expand and move to larger premises.
I miss the personal touch of the old B&Q store; the friendly waves, winks and non chaotic or conflicting sound advice/help/assistance and general service we used to get.
Maybe it's something to do with detesting everything to do with ... ...DIY = Disaster in your home!)
The worst thing I have discovered is the customer services, where the average assistant can't spell Vacuum, nor speak clearly, except in non syllabic mumbles, with about as much common sense and interest in your enquiry as a bikini clad tourist in Iceland!
I can assure you, that the advents I'm about to describe here are real, and actually happened without any embellishing on my part at all!
I hope you are ready with your ...

...make here I am a B & Q addict! I simply love shopping in a store which offers me such a wide variety of home and garden products. Although having written this opinion I'm starting to wonder why…. ~~~ Helpful Staff ~~~
Every time I visit the staff are friendly and helpful. B & Q offer a range of how-to leaflets giving easy to understand step by step instructions on various projects. These come in a really wide range and also include garden projects, I picked one up today on lawn care.

Advantages: Great store Disadvantages: none just great
B & Q……..I need to be Dragged There!! There is one hell of a B & Q store in Belfast, it is situated on the Boucher Road and if you are going to it, bring a packed lunch because it is just massive. It is one of the biggest stores I have every visited. So just in case anyone doesn’t know, it is a large Diy warehouse, and believe me I mean large… Well let’s go a walk around the store and see what they have, God that sounded ... ...take my hat of to B & Q, because yet again the range is well set out and every taste is catered for. Next aisle we turn brings us into a section filled with lighting. From spotlights to desk lamps its all there. Now the kitchens, every sort of kitchen you can imagine is here. Again it’s well laid out and there is always someone about to give friendly advice. Bathrooms are next on the agenda. All set out nicely and then a separate section for ...

Advantages: Everything under one roof. Disadvantages: Slow service at the checkouts.
We moved house about 18 months ago, and as with all houses they look lovely until you uncover all the minor little problems that build up and get on your nerves and then you just have to do something about them.
This is when my love of B&Q comes in. I hate shopping and can't see the point of going shopping just for fun, but at B&Q it never seems a chore.
If you are lucky enough to have a B&Q warehouse near you then you will understand just how ... ...one roof.
They sell almost everything that you will need to do almost every job around the house and garden. The range of plants and shrubs are reasonable, the don't have as much stock as your local garden centre, but if you just want to pick up a few things to make the garden look neater then here is the place to be. For bedding plants I don't think you need look elsewhere. You can get a box with 30 pansies in it for around £3.99, this works out ...

Advantages: None Disadvantages: Poor Stock Control and poor customer service
This is a tale of warning from my recent experience with B&Q Warehouse at Ashton (near Manchester) and unfortunately has put both my wife and I off using B&Q in the forseeable future. On July the 20th my wife and I visited B&Q to purchase a shed (two sheds actually). Seeing the ones we wanted on display we went to customer services to place our order for the sheds to be delivered to our house. Just one problem - one was in stock and the other wasn't, ... ...problem' though said the assistant - 'we are having a delivery of the out of stock shed on the 31st of July so we could deliver the first week of August'. We looked at each other, both nodded and then explained to the gentleman that that would be OK, provided the delivery was in that time frame. My credit card was swiped and £208 taken from my account and we returned home to wait. And wait. And wait. I phoned the store - they couldn't get through ...

B & Q are simply the cheapest and best option you could ask for when it comes to buying your decorating and house repair products.
They have everything under one roof. Whether it be Plastering, Plumbing, Electrical, Painting, Tiling, Garden, you name it. They have it.

Advantages: Selection, Range all easily accessible for comparison shopping Disadvantages: High price, Poor Quality on own brand products
As a keen DIY-er, there is one sure thing I've found - whatever part, tool, glue or 'widget' you require, you wont have the faintest idea what it's called.
Having survived numerous odd jobs around the house, I am very familiar with the situation where you find yourself (typically at 3pm on a Sunday) standing with a damaged part in one hand and a desperate need to get the job done before it gets dark. This is where a DIY 'barn' like B&Q comes into ... ...the aisles of B&Q matching up the damaged part with pristine new components. Probably more often, I have wandered into the store with some half baked idea as to the type of part (or parts) that would be useful to complete a job. Especially when doing a plumbing job, I have found that I typically need a wide range of pipe joints from which to choose in order to 'make it work'.
Living between 2 B&Q Warehouse stores means I have this luxury - I can ...

Advantages: Loads of choice, reasonable prices Disadvantages: Too much temptation
For some reason we always seem to buy houses that need quite a bit of work doing on them, so it's no wonder that we always seem to be popping down to B&Q for something, as we generally tend to do the work ourselves.
Our last house needed a new kitchen and bathroom fitting, so off we went. The bathroom suit (bath, loo, washbasin) cost us less than £200 and nothing to have installed as we did it ourselves. While we were at it we had to replace the ... ...and ruined the chipboard. So for about £250 we had a complete new bathroom.
The kitchen was also in dire need of attention, so once the bathroom was fitted we went back to B&Q again. We spent £600 in total on new cupboards, sink, work surfaces etc and it put around £2,500 on the value of our house.
The good thing about B&Q is that there's so many different things to choose from. The B&Q warehouses are wonderful, crammed to bursting with things ...

Advantages: Huge Choice, Good Quality, Reasonable Prices Disadvantages: The Paint
Recently, a new ‘flagship’ B&Q superstore has opened near to me. It is the size of many football pitches and the biggest store of any kind I’ve ever seen. Its opening coincided with my gutting and redesigning my new house, and over the past two months I’ve spend over two thousand quid in the place. Thus, I feel pretty well qualified to review the store, its service and products.

Advantages: EVERYTHING UNDER ONE ROOF Disadvantages: WATCH THE PRICES. NOT ALWAYS CHEAP
Most of the people who are kind enough to read my opinions will know by now that my hobbies are gardening, taking trips to Cornwall and reading. Unfortunately however, I also change my mind regularly and soon find that a room which looked presentable one day looks dowdy the next.....hence my frequent ... ...Perhaps I should change that to regular and weekly visits,in fact I sometimes think I spend half my life in either B&Q or Taskers.....a Liverpool DIY Store. I've read others opinions on B&Q, all of which have been favourable, however I would have to beg to differ. I'm afraid I find this store extremely expensive. Oh yes, I know they have the lO% refund policy, but I bet there would be a way around it if you were to challenge them and how many of ...

Advantages: Great range Disadvantages: Slipping in standards
The name of B&Q is pretty much short hand for DIY superstores these days and over the last thirty years the chain has grown from virtually nothing to being far and away the market leaders.
They operate now for the most part on a warehousing basis. They carry massive stocks and have made a big play of recruiting older people who can provide a good quality customer service.
I've spent a lot of time recently going around the branch that was opened ... ...and I alwasy thought that the management there had got things just about right - there's excellent parking, a massive range, good advice and it's all attracively laid out.
Unfortunately there have been a few niggles around the edges.
About 6 months ago I was in there searching for some handles for a chest of drawers and even though they'd got a lot of really nice ones, they didn't have a set of four of any sort that we did like and couldn't give ...

My local B & Q store, on Chatsworth Road Chesterfield, is a typical B & Q, selling a range of DIY, home decorating and Gardening equipment. I went to buy a garden bench, to put on our newly laid patio and was unsure of what would be left because of the in-store price cuts. My review is based on my local B&Q store which is Harlow, Essex.
Our B&Q store is located on a large shopping area just on the outskirts of town which contains lots of stores selling similar items such as Homebase & The Range. B&Q sell a whole host of items to help with redecorating the house or just general maintenance tasks such as pipes, fittings, fixtures, shelves, fencing, paint, wallpaper, curtain poles, towel rails etc and they also sell ... ...really can visit the store for pretty much everything in the home. They even sell home furnishings now and some of these items are lovely.
The store is laid out very well with bathrooms & kitchens out on display and advisors available to help with measurements and planning your ideal kitchen or bathroom. It's fantastic to be able to explore the kitchens and bathrooms and look at cupboards or sinks and have someone on hand to help you with ideas ...

Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: Poor customer service, too big to find anything, poor parking
I have been a regular visitor to my local Huddersfield branch of B&Q for some years. When it opened in the mid 90’s, Huddersfield was the proud location for the biggest DIY superstore in Europe; a somewhat dubious boast. While the mantle has no doubt by now moved onto some other equally obscure town in the north of England, the store is indeed impressively huge. It took over a good proportion of the old Huddersfield Town football ground, a ground ... ...gently into decline. The ground closed after the tightened Health and Safety regulations of the 1980’s.
As a most reluctant DIY’er, I normally spend my time in that great cavern of a warehouse tromping through endless aisles looking for some such exciting product like wood glue, or wall filler. After I have finally located my purchase, I queue amongst confident people with huge trolleys bursting with MDF or with enough wood to deck Kew Gardens. ...
