Advantages Advantages Easy drinking, different, more-ish.

Disadvantages Disadvantages May be too fruity for some palates.

INTRODUCTION It’s not very often that I indulge in the occasional tipple, so when I started work last week, I thought it was about time that I treated myself to something nice. I do like a nicely brewed beer and the occasion warranted something other than the usual designer Euro-p*ss that publicans and supermarkets seem so keen to ply us with these days. Having visited the Hall & Woodhouse brewery at Blandford St Mary on a trip down to Dorset a few years ago (and brought home a tasting pack with corresponding pint glasses) I have since been rather partial to Badger Beers, and, as such, I could ... more

    Advantages Advantages It's beer

    Disadvantages Disadvantages But only just

After over-indulging a little last night, today I'm feeling as rough as a badger's erse, but that's what Sundays are for, right? Anyway, that little confession leads me seamlessly into this review on a beer from the Badger Brewery. GOL:DEN GLORY is produced at the Badger Brewery (founded in 1777) in Blandford St Mary, Dorset, by Hall & Woodhouse Ltd. Apparently, badgers abound in the local area - hence the name of the brewery. They brew a range of cask and bottled ales, but I'm not going to list them here, or tell you about the brewery. If you want to know any of that, go to: http://www ... more

Advantages Advantages A very nice and refreshing Summer Pint, good combination of flavours

Disadvantages Disadvantages Perhaps a bit too fruity, must be served chilled

On a recent trip to Tesco I came across a selection of Badger beers on special offer. Having not tried a number of their beers I decided to opt for 4 bottles of Golden Glory. It boasted a combination of peach and melon on the bottle that instantly got my senses aroused. As my ale tastes seem to be developing I thought this would be something a little different and since it was produced by the Badger brewery I have to admit to being optimistic. Who Are Badger The Badger brewery was founded in Blandford Forum, Dorset by Charles Hall in 1777. He founded the Ansty brewery named after a small ... more

Advantages Advantages nice light summer ale, unusal taste, one for the girls

Disadvantages Disadvantages lacks depth, not for everyone

At first glance this product is in the wrong place. Badger’s Golden Glory?? Is that not a Ciao Café opinion? Those of you hoping to read a review of the King of the aftershave and the Master of all things to do with hair care Badger Boy will be disappointed. You will not find a review of his bathroom cabinet. In fact Badger’s Golden Glory is a beer and not your bog standard one. At that, it is an award winning premium ale with a special ingredient alongside the hops! After trying beer with added bananas, this week I am trying one with added peach blossom. Yes you heard me right. Badger’s ... more

Advantages Advantages Unusual peach flavour makes it a bit different.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Maybe not to everyone's taste.

This is a very unusual, deliciously light and refreshing beer, which is ideal for drinking on a summer's evening. At 4.5% abv it is not too strong and you can appreciate the subtle flavours and aroma without getting completely wrecked. It is brewed by Hall and Woodhouse, Dorset and comes in a bottle decorated with peach blossom and hops, which gives a clue to the unusual floral aroma and peach / melon taste which greets you when you open the bottle and taste the beer. This may not sound very appetising to those who like their beer unadulterated, and if you are in this category, I would steer ... more

Advantages Advantages A very different taste

Disadvantages Disadvantages Takes some getting used to

I'm not usually a fan of beer that has bits & pieces added in order to 'liven' it up. It seems to me that if it needs livening, it was not that special in the first place. I tried the one with chocolate & also a cherry lager, both of which left me thoroughly unimpressed with the whole idea. They tasted as tho' an originally quite bland product simply had a few fairly artificial ( at least they tasted artificial ) but novel ingredients added. They were then given a fancy name & then presumably the punters would come flooding in lured by a wonderfully new & exciting 'new concept' product ( the ... more

Advantages Advantages has a very distinctive taste

    Disadvantages Disadvantages a bit poncy

Beer wins all the time for me thats why i think i will not make golden glory my first second or third choice of ales. For me i really thought that it is exactly wat flowers would taste like, very delicate and sweet but wait did i just use delicate and sweet while describing an ale, this is an outrage the ale and delicate do not belong in the same sentence andd thats why i believe that golden glory does not belong in my pub. even my girlfriend cringed after the first sip and she drinks alcopops. The only benifits i can see with this product is if you drink enough you will get drunk and not be ... more
