Advantages Advantages widely available, good absorbency, will save you money

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not as pretty as some reusables and need a stay dry layer

Bambino Mio cotton pre-fold nappies In this review I am looking at the Bambino Mio pre-fold nappies. I have written a separate review on the wraps (or covers). I felt there was such a gap in quality between the wraps and the nappies themselves that they needed separate reviews rather than me review one of the sets as a whole. Bambino Mio are a well known brand when it comes to cloth nappies because they are widely available and you can buy just the nappies, just the wraps or they come in a variety of sets to suit your needs. What is a pre-fold? There are many types of cloth nappy on the market ... more

Advantages Advantages Can be used with more than one child to save extra money , 100 % cotton

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite costly

When I was pregnant with my first child I never gave any thought to what type of nappy I would use with my child, I just assumed that I would use disposable, however when my son was around 3 months old, I was doing some shopping in the city and decided to pop into the library. As I entered the library a woman approached me, she asked me what kind of nappies I used with my baby, when I told her I use disposable she asked if I would consider trying re-usable 'real' nappies on my son. I told her I had no objection to using them; however I didn't think I would be able to afford it. Disposables may ... more

Today I would like to bring to your attention how much those who buy disposable nappies contribute to this countries landfill problems. Nappies are classed as municipal waste which means that when you stick them in the bin after use they have only one place to go and that's into landfill sites. Nappies we use account for a huge 4% of all household waste taken to landfill and it equates to one tonne of waste in landfill for every baby in disposables up to the age of 2 and a half. I had been reading this quite frankly horrifying figures and decided that I would have to start using re-usable ... more

Advantages Advantages Minimal Nappy Rash, very Economical and Environmentally Freindly

Disadvantages Disadvantages Early Stages & at teething need extra wraps, need more changes than disposables.

Bambino Mio Reusables - These are brilliant for my sons bottom. He rarely gets nappy rash, and this has tended to be when he has been in disposable nappies rather than the Bambino Mios. We put he was in disposables recently whilst he was teething and had runny poos – he still has runny poos but in back in his reusable and the nappy rash he got from the disposables has nearly gone now! My son has rarely suffered from nappy rash whilst using Bambino Mio reusable nappies, and I will continue to use them until he is potty trained and will definitely use them if he has any siblings. Perhaps as an ... more

Advantages Advantages eco-friendly, economical, no nappy rash

Disadvantages Disadvantages you need to keep on top of the laundry!

We have used these nappies for over a year now for our third child after using disposables for the first two. I went for Bambino Mio because a) I felt very strongly that I wanted to be eco-friendly this time b) They had good consumer reviews- and I did a lot of research and c) I lived near a local stockist at the time, making it easy to get supplies and sample packs. Basically, you have an outer nappy shell with velcro fastenings which looks a bit like a disposable. It has a waterproof inner and a cotton outer. You can wipe down the waterproof inner and reuse this part. Then there is a ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheaper Long term, No Nappy Rash

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Big Bottoms!!!

Where do I start? I decided to use reusable nappies on my second child after seeing a friend use them. They looked so easy to use and the thought of never running out of nappies and having to find an open store late on a Sunday evening sold them to me!! I have tried to keep this review user friendly. If you want to know anything else that I have missed, leave me a message in my guestbook! To my shame I am not really a 'green' person although I do try! The convenience and money saving idea of these nappies sold them to me rather than the environment issue. Environmentally a lot of people use ... more

Advantages Advantages Cost saving, environmentally sound, natural product next to bots!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Mio soft cover

I started using Bambino mio with my first child and now have a baby; both are in Bambino mios'. I originally looked around at great length prior to the birth and found the bambino mio range to be the best. I liked the mio soft cover as it is cotton like on the outside and waterproof on the inside. It also had some nice patterns on it! The cotton prefolds themselves are not different to many on the market; rectangular in shape they fold into multiple layers and with a biodegradable paper liner that flushes down the loo that wraps around to collect solids. The difference is the waterproof covers ... more

Advantages Advantages Enviromentally Friendly, Cotton against Baby Bottom

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Too many leaks

When I decided I wanted to try out reusable nappies. I looked on the internet, and bought pretty much the first thing I came across. Ok, ok, hindsight is a great thing, and possibly a teeny bit of research would have saved me some hassle! The Bambino Mio system works with cotton prefold nappies, and a waterproof outer wrap. Prefold nappies are lots of layers of cotton (4 on the edges, 6-8 in the centre) made into a rectangle shape, that you then just fold into a pad, sanitary towel type shape, and then put the wrap around it - like a big pair of knickers that do up with velcro at the front ... more

Advantages Advantages Very cheap, environmentally and baby friendly

Disadvantages Disadvantages leakage for small, breastfed babies

Before my daughter was born, I had already decided to go for cloth nappies; I must say I was definitely convinced by a study published by Which?: not only they are environmentally friendly, but also they can save you a lot of money in the long run! It took me about a month before I was completely equipped: the bucket, the nappy fresh washing-antibacterial powder to soak the used nappies, the cloth nappies and the wraps. I chose Bambino Mio, because it was well advertised and easy to order, and also because prefold nappies (=just a square of absorbent cotton, to fold and fit with a wrap) are ... more

Advantages Advantages Saving money, Enviromentally friendly

Disadvantages Disadvantages not for people who don't like a lot of washing

When my second son was born I decided to try and be more enviromentally friendly by trying reuseable nappies. I tryed several brands by using trail offers but found the Bambio Mio to be the most cost effective and easy to use. This is a 2 piece system of nappy with the cloth nappy and an outer cover, which means you don't have to have a clean cover every change. The nappies are 100% cotton and you fold them into three, then you place a liner on top (which you can also purchuse from Bambio Mio) then you lay it into the outer cover, they do up a bit like a disposable as they have velcro ... more
