...Today's target is the Bank of Scotland business current bank account. There are several reasons for their being targetted, but I think they can all be summed up in two ways, misleading advertising and poor customer service. I'll attempt to tackle each issue in detail:

-------------------------------------------
These days, most personal accounts are free of all charges unless you are overdrawn irrespective of who you bank with, but for businesses, the old charges for using cheques, withdrawing cash etc. still apply.
Most high street banks offer new businesses anything between 12 and 24 months free banking. However, despite advertising to the contrary, Bank of Scotland ...

...a student and chose the Bank of Scotland mainly because they offered the largest interest free overdraft - In my first year I didn't need this, but I'm thankful that I took it as its proved very handy this year (2nd year)
I originally wanted to go with Lloyds - but they said I couldn't bank with them because no member of my family banked with them (great business model) - I hope they go bust now. But them I'm glad they did, because I got to go with ... ...two credit cards with the Bank of Scotland, and everything it managed from the one portal. It's secure, easy to use and doesn't require you to write down your password and pick the 7th, 11th and 12th letters from it just to log in.
Telephone banking is also relatively easy - with a trusting scottish accent on the automated system you come out of the ordeal slightly happier than you were before - quite impressive for telephone banking I must say!

...so badly treated by any bank as I was with thr Bank of Scotland. I had been a loyal customer since I was about 5 so when I went to University I assumed I would get a student accout with them.
I waited untill I had turned 18 before applying for one as I thought that it woul be a bit pointless before then as I already had a cheque account with them and i wouldn't be able to take advantage of a switch card or an overdraft untill then anyway.

Advantages: Lower APR, online Disadvantages: Any APR is a disadvantage
I have recently taken a personal loan with HBoS and I was offered the Preference Account. At first I did not accept, but after getting annoyed at my credit card company (Capital One) I have decided to use it in favour of the credit card. The interest rate on the preference account is 28.9% oppose to my credit card is above 30%.

Also every three months you get a statement and a magazine which you also get special discount offers with. Each member gets a bank card so that he or she can withdraw money from any cash machine without going ...

I think the Bank of Scotland is great. I am only 15 and I have a Solo which is kind of like a Switch card but its for teenagers and i can't overdraw money. The standard Bank of Scotland current account is the Chequeplus. This comes complete with chequebook, £100 cheque card,LINK ATM and Switch card and access to the telephone banking and the internet banking service (basic, but about to improve drastically, apparently!) Bank of Scotland
Student Current Account
This was the account that BoS offered me when I first moved to University. It has all the usual student account perks; an interest free overdraft increasing from £1250 in your first year to a £2000 maximum in your last year, and no charges providing that you stay within your agreed limit. Conclusion

After banking with the Bank of Scotland for several years they kept offering me a loan.Finding myself in a spot of financial difficulty I decided to take out a Loan with them to cover all my debtors.
