Batman On The Edge

AdvantagesBatman... but slightly different.

DisadvantagesVery violent!

"Itís hard to believe this was originally released in 1988, the story is one that sticks in your mind with regards to Batman and what his close friends are put through by The Joker, however with numerous re-prints and the occasional Special Edition released over the last 24 years, the book is still a good read. The story is disturbing to say the least, it is a fresh approach as to what happens as the story unfolds and rather than have the Joker hatch ..." Read review

Batman One Shot

AdvantagesNew territory for Batman.

DisadvantagesAdult reading.

"Iíve always said that things in the comic world happen for a reason and a Batman graphic novel called The Killing Joke had an immediate impact to DC and the characters linked to it. Originally released in 1988 to an audience that were still at the early stages of accepting graphic novels, the book itself has been re-printed a number of times to the extent that deluxe hardback printings of the book have been released, each printing showing the writing ..." All It Takes Is One Bad Day

AdvantagesAn interesting look at the world of Batman

DisadvantagesShort and possibly now out of print

"Writer - Alan Moore (Watchmen, Swamp Thing, League of Extrordinary Gentlemen) Artist - Brian Bolland +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Plot The plot to this short one off graphic novel is simple. The Joker has escaped from Arkham Asylum, intent of causing pain and suffering on one man. Only this time it isn't the man you would think it is. Written by the legendary Alan Moore, it bears all the hallmarks of some of his longer works. ..." Read review

The Tears of a Clown

Advantagesgreat storytelling, great art, great characters

Disadvantagesdiscontinued from what I hear

"One of the most compelling origins for one of the most infamous comic book villians of all time, Alan Moore's The Killing Joke, provides a heartbreaking answer to the history and motivations behind the Joker. If you haven't already read it, I am hesitant to give too much about this groundbreaking graphic novel's plot away. I will, however, go so far as to say that the Joker was once all too human and that his issues with Batman go far deeper than ..." Read review

An excellent comic book about Batman

AdvantagesA action packed comic book with a bit of humour

DisadvantagesOut of print

"This comic book about Batman represents one of Batman's greatest enemies; The Joker. The Joker has tried time over time to get rid of Batman, but Batman has always triumphed over Joker. However, Joker decides to come up with a plan in order to get rid of the caped crusader once and for all. A plan that might be considered hilarious (only to the Joker that is), but a plan that might work for once. However, as though Joker assumed that his plan will ..." Read review

A classic Joker origin story

AdvantagesPretty much everything

DisadvantagesI don't get the Bob Kane picture (you'll see when you read it)

"This is rightly considered one of the greatest Batman graphic novels, although it is concerned more with the Joker than Batman. It does a great job of making you feel sorry for this psychopahic, mass-murdering clown and asks real intelligent questions about the nature of sanity, about the fragility of man, and about just how far the average person will go if life keeps pushing them. What's more, if you are lucky enough to get the deluxe edition, ..." Read review
