Advantages Advantages Very quick and easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages The size - especially if you want to cook in bulk or have twins or more!

Background and Purchase I bought this product when my twin girls were 5 months old, the cost of pre-packed baby food convinced me that I could cook for my girls using the freshest ingredients. I didn't want to have to buy a multitude of appliances. This product seemed ideal, a steamer, food processor, and food reheater. I bought it from Mothercare for £64.99, a little dubious about whether it would be value for money or not as I thought this was a lot to pay but didn't see any other product as promising available. I rationalised it by saying it means I don't need to buy a steamer and a food ... more

Advantages Advantages Very easy to use. Makes tasty food in 10mins!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite expensive

I looked over quite a few different products to make my babies food. And there's not too many options out there. I wanted to buy something so that I could prepare his food in something separate from ours so that our herbs and spices wouldn't contaminate his food in the early stages. To buy a blender alone was going to cost me about £30, then I would need a saucepan etc. So i took a chance on the baby cook. At £65 its not exactly cheap but its well worth it. I'm not a very good cook... But this makes it very easy. Pick a few ingredients, cut them up throw them in with the correct amount of ... more

5 Stars Quick review of Beaba Babycook by Surbydoom 06/05/2007
We purchased the Babycook mixer a month ago to wean our six month old. It is very easy to use, mixes fairly well but the clinch comes with the steam function, cooking everything from chicken and aubergine to potato and green bean soups. For practicality and everyday use, this is a tidy little machine which does just the job until your little one is ready to start sharing your meals, and when that happens, the blender function should be able to cope so long as the food is chopped beforehand, and can warm it through with the steam function. Overall, a ... more

Advantages Advantages You can do everything in one.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can't think of any

Fab product. I bought this when my daughter was 5 months old. I was determined that I was going to cook all her food myself rather than buy prepackaged baby food. This product makes it so easy. I make in bulk and then freeze the food. You can then take the food out of the freezer and thaw it out in the Babycook. It takes about 15 mins to steam vegetables and 10 mins for fruit. The food can then be pureed straight away and transferred to the freezer. When you want to reheat the food you add water to the Babycook, then add you food in an appropriate container and it takes about 7 mins to reheat ... more

Advantages Advantages The perfect size for making healthy baby and toddler meals

Disadvantages Disadvantages The price is a bit off-putting

I didn't buy one of these with my first child, and made weaning food in large batches using a saucepan and a full size hand blender. With less time available with my second child I decided to spend the £65 in the hope of making my life a bit easier, and I am really pleased that I did. Because of the size, you can cook one meal, or if you fill the basket about 3 meals (so you can build up a freezer stock). I think because of this I can prepare more varied meals and link them with what the rest of the family is eating. The food is also really fresh, because you cook as you need it. I am also not ... more

Advantages Advantages Knowing I am not losing nutrient content

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

I decided in my pregnancy that I would make my own food for my baby so I knew exactly what was in it. I originally saw this and thought it was fab, but out of my price range, but then we discussed our very small house and where we would put a steamer and blender! So we eventually (well I!) decided to go for it and get this, and I am so glad I did, I use it all the time, its fab! Even now my daughter tends to eat more of what we eat I still use the steamer for her fruit and the blender is used all the time. I love the fact that I know I cant boil the life and vitamins out of the vegetables and ... more
