...got me a box of Beechams All in One. When I opened the box I thought it was going to be a bottle with a dainty little plastic spoon, I was well wrong. To my surprise the contents were six 20ml plastic pouches with the medicine inside ready to take. So I took one straightway, I tore the tab from the top of the pouch and swallowed the contents. It tastes absolutely disgusting and to be honest nearly put me off from taking the rest which you're supposed ... ...a few your mouth does tend to adjust and you get to the stage where you just ignore it anyway.
I was surprised at how quick it actually kicked in as other well known remedies such as Lemsip fails on me completely, to which I avoid that now. Intrigued I got the box and read the side of it. Advantages: Tackles headaches, shiver, aches and pains and a chesty cough. Disadvantages: More expensive than Lemsip.
It's an unfortunate fact that the first tangible thing that your grandchildren are likely to give you is an infection. I came back from visiting them last month with a hell-cat-mud-wrestler of a viral infection and some sticky finger marks on my glasses which were the very devil to remove. Within a couple of days I ached, felt shivery and had a very sore throat and a tickly cough.
I raided the medicine cabinet and found some Lemsip Max Strength ... ...drink seemed a good idea. It was too. Whilst I was drinking it my throat felt soothed, but the aching persisted and the shivering became a fever. After two days it was obvious that Lemsip was having little or no effect. My husband was despatched to the chemist.

When I got home I opened it (theres a saftey cap on the medicine where you have to push down hard and twist) and read the instructions which are easy to follow, it's only for adults and children over 12. You get a clear plastic ... ...is an information leaflet about beechams all in one. It states clearly that the product contains paracetamol, and it does list the ingredients of the product.
You are not to take beechams All in One if:
** you are pregnant
** you are allergic to paracetamol or any other ingredients in the product
** you have liver or kidney problems, overactive thyroid, diabetes or are under the care of your doctor for high blood pressure or heart disease

...bought a 160ml bottle of Beechams All in One which I had never tried before. It says on the box that it contains 8 doses, is non drowsy and is good for headaches, bkocked nose, sore throat and chesty cough. It is menthol flavoured syrup. It warns you not to take it with alcohol, other paracetamol products and if you are under the care of a doctor or are pregnant - you would need to read all the small print that these sort of medicines usually contain.

I went straight off to sleep and slept well, The next couple of nights I abandonned the other medicine and just took the Beechams and it worked a treat and the cough soon went. I had a dreadful cough (sorry about this bit) - loads of green solid lumps! AWFUL. I needed something to take for headache and couging that wouldn't send me to sleep when looking after teenagers on a Church weekend away. Thought this looked just the job.
It wasn't
When I took it I think the headache got worse, the cough stayed the same and the mucus was all still there. I was in big trouble for keeping the whole family awake at night too.
The very worst thing was that I felt like I was on full stress levels at all times, even when I was as relaxed as possible. My heart was racing and my blood pressure seemed high (I am an old hand and know the symptoms when I am hyper tensive.) I threw up and only felt better when the stuff was out of my system. I would rather have had a cold.
It was only when I was talking to a pharmacist friend that I linked it all together, I thought stress was from the youth work and so was the headache.
I would never have this again - unless I felt like putting my body through a workout for a day or two.
Sorry beechams the cure is worse than the illness. ...

Beechams is a menthol flavoured all in one cold remedy designed to treat chest, nose , throat and head. The label has the usual warnings that all of these medicines have about pregnancy and consulting your doctor. This one also has a warning against taking paracetemol.
After three days the cough and nose problem had been sorted but I still had a sore throat. Also I had to take some tablets for a headache ... ...claim on the box. The medecine took a few days to work. I would have been happier with a bottle of Boots own cough bottle. Also you are not supposed to take other medicines while using this.
The taste was disgusting not syrupy like most cough bottles although there were no side effects like other mixtures have.
There was enough for 3 days use in the bottle but I still found it expensive and cannot agree it is everything it claimed to be. I would ...
