...and decided to buy the Belkin Bluetooth USB Adapter, this was a last ditch effort on my part, and in truth this was still the cheapest option I could think of, the other choice was upgrade the pc. I also chose the Belkin one as I have other Belkin products from them that are attached to my PC and all work fine and I had no problems installing them.
So after a short trip to Argos and spending of £15.99 I returned home with my new toy. Thankfully ... ...you what that looked like, although it was in a small plastic Argos carrier bag. The way I work with new things is, make cup of coffee, then read all the instructions thoroughly before proceeding. The instructions were very minimal but I did note DO NOT INSERT BLUETOOTH ADAPTER UNTIL PROMPTED. The Belkin Bluetooth USB Adapter is very useful technology which you simply plug into your USB slot. I actually got this about 2 years ago because I wanted to transfer photos and videos from my mobile phone to my PC and I didn't have a mobile phone cable to connect to the PC. So this was ideal rather than purchasing a cable which would have cost the same, but with this I can use it for other Bluetooth enabled devices such as my PDA or Laptop.
Main ... ...software update located on the Belkin website and that will fix the issue. Though the new adapters may already have the updated software as I bought this 2 years ago. I thought id mention it just encase you manage to purchase it second hand or get the same version as mine.

...I found the software that Belkin provided uneccessary and inferior to the drivers already included with Windows XP. You should find that the windows Bluetooth icon appears in the system tray when you connect the device, and basic functionality is provided from here.
Most mobile phones are provided with a software CD that include the necessary software for transferring files, songs and pictures to and from your phone. I love my music and wanted some songs on my mobile phones mp3 player but didn't know how to do it, my partner came with the Bluetooth USB adapter for my pc. Now I thought using this would difficult to use but I have to say it wasn't.
What it does
With Bluetooth it allows you to connect to your pc or any phone that has Bluetooth availability, the Bluetooth adapter allows you to have a wireless free mouse and keyboard and just about any other Bluetooth ... ...you need to connect to which means less wires!! There is a down side but I will come to this later.
This small little device plugs into a USB port on your PC or laptop and it will also plug into a USB hub, the Bluetooth adaptor once paired with your phone or another computer lets you transfer pictures, music and written files from one device to the other very quickly.

I bought this bluetooth (BT) device so I could connect my notepad to my mobile phone (SonyEricsson K750i) wirelessly; quick summary:I've had it 6 months and it works a treat.
My version is Part # F8T009uk, which is the enhanced BTv1.2 version. It looks identical to the v1.1 version so watch out if you want the improved voice features apparently offered by v1.2 as some shops may try and flog you their old stock. I got lucky on this front as I originally ... ...stock, so I cancelled. Next day I just happened to see that the new version had come out and so picked that up in PCWorld at the same price as Amazon (14.99 GBP).
Opinion:

Measuring barely 70mm x 20mm x 6mm it's a compact, slimline design that doesn't hog too much space either side of your USB port, meaning you can still use the port next to it should you need to. It doesn't stick out too far from the USB port either, and so doesn't snag too often which is particularly important if you are using it with a laptop! The single LED (blue, obviously) flashes regularly all ... ...more than the Class 3 Belkin device with otherwise the same specification.
My only complaint with the design is about the plastic cap that protects the USB connector when not in use. It seems to be held in place by will and good fortune and, more often than not, will fall off somewhere on your travels. Likewise, when the device is in use the cap should clip onto the non-business end for easy storage, but there is a similar lack of friction and so ...

I purchased this product a month back for approximately 20 GBP including the delivery charges on amazon.co.uk.
I have gone in for the 10meter range product. It is available in different ranges. So the Bluetooth works within the 10 meters range. The PC requirements for this product is

...kit. Personally, I bought the Belkin Bluetooth adaptor for several reasons:
1) It works with basically all programmes needing a bluetooth dongle.
2) To connect my bluetooth mobile phone to my laptop so that I could store data (pictures etc.) and copy over appointments from Microsoft Outlook.
3) For the novelty of controlling my computer from my phone. (This is useful during powerpoint presentations and for switching tracks on music players)
4) ... ...that you opt for the Belkin Bluetooth adaptor with a range of 100 metres if you are using it for these circumstances. This would mean that you do not run the risk of disconnecting from each computer and that you would have better signal and it would also be faster.

I bought this because most mobile phones have Bluetooth now, and having a few different mobiles in my house it's easier than installing all the different mobile software to transfer photos to the computer.
I can't actually remember where I bought this, ... ...remember how much it was then either (a lot of help aren't I!), but currently they are selling at £17.96 on Amazon. Version 2 is now selling in Argos at £15.99. Ebay is a good place to look as prices vary from day to day. You might even find one for 99p!
The installation of this was incredibly easy. The quick start guide is useful, though a bit strangely laid out! Once you work that out you're on a run! You basically insert the CD-Rom and follow ...

...however and not just a Belkin feature, so if you are getting bluetooth you will have to get used to this.
The Dongle itself is TINY, around half the size and weight of a disposable lighter, while it is very easy to carry around it doesnt have a hole to clip it onto your keyring like most USB dongles do, so make sure you dont lose it.
Overall It does its job very well, and barring some annoyances with adding bluetooth options to your PC it is perfect. ...

I've had this USB bluetooth adapter for about 2 months now - and its very good for sending stuff to your phone , pda, and other computers in the house - because of the good range - (i send stuff to my brother when hes in the garden - aprox. 40 feet away!!!!)
and i'm very please with it
but the thing is - its very annoying!!!
cause i have to unplug it sometimes for a different thing to go in - and the problem is - i have to install it again every ... ...in!
but its very quick and slick for sending to most bluetooth devices including other laptops/computers around the house ... - as long as you've got a normal sized house!!!
Its very good for that use - like sending ringtones and games and wallpapers to your mobile which is very good instead of paying all that money just to get them on your phone via WAP ect....
but if you get annoyed easily-
DONT GET THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!!!!
