This product is for extending the wireless range of an exisiting network. It simply repeats the previous signal to expand the range, and can be located anywhere to maximise this. I used this an an extender and initially it was a nightmare to set up until I realised the setup needs Internet Explorer as the browser - I was using Firefox. Alas although it connected to my wireless network (and several neighbours') and extended the range, it proved very slow on throughput (about 25%) but that may be because I can only site it at a point where reception of the main access point is bad. ...
