Advantages: Always one local, good clean store, not bad prices Disadvantages: Rotten restaurant and lack of hygiene
...for the past 70 years, BHS stands for British Home Stores. It is a retail outlet that sells ladies, gents, babies and children’s clothes. They also sell house wares but not on the scale of Ikea.
Here’s a bit of useless information that will ultimately change your life – the first store was opened in 1928 and it was in sunny Brixton. They have stores from Scotland all the way down to Staines.
WHAT ARE THE STORES LIKE?
In my opinion they are bright, ... ...depending on whether you buy BHS own or a brand name. They sell a good sports bra for £22. It doesn’t get much use with me, but its there incase of emergencies.
The knockers (whoops I mean knickers), are thong, bikini or up to your arm pits style. They come in packs of 5 for the everyday ones, but the sort of sexy range sell singular. Prices are from £5. The knickers are not as good quality as M and S or Next and if you put them in a wash more than ...

...a scruff so off to BHS I went.
Now I had a voucher to spend on £150 of clothes, I could have got it for Top shop or Evans as I am good size 18. Top shop a bit too trendy for me. Evans at their prices I would be able to afford a pair of knickers never mind a few items of clothing. So I decided to opt for the middle of the road store.

In 1985 it went international and in 1986 it ... ...Now my opinion of BHS is brilliant for over priced christmas gifts but the clothes are ones that you buy for gran. Mind you I must admit, I never really look at clothes and it is now rather updated and is trying to attract a younger element.
This opinion is of my experience yesterday in the Warrington Branch. I walked into the store yesterday and was immediately met by all the christmas gifts and had great fun playing with the snowman that skis ...

Advantages: the restaurant and home sections are very good Disadvantages: the rest is pretty rubbish really!
...what can be said about Bhs that hasn't already! Having worked there part time for the past 6 months I can surely speak with a great deal of experience. To put it mildy, they have their fingers in too many pies, making some of their items excellent (home, kids, sandwich store!) and others out-dated and unfashionable at prices that can be matched or beaten elsewhere (mens and womenswear). The main reason, at my Solihull store anyway, that Bhs isn't ... ...So there you go ; Bhs seems to be one of those stores that hasn't changed at all in probably the last decade, and as long as it serves its target audience isn't likely to anytime soon. Some areas are of use to everyone (well women anyway) like the lingerie and "Holiday Shop" section which sells bathing gear for summer. Also, at Christmas the Christmas Shop provides plenty of gift ideas of all price ranges and this is a big seller for Bhs. However, ...

...the pros and cons.
BHS actually opened it’s doors as British Home Stores way back in 1928, so after over 70 years of trading they should have got the hang of it by now! Essentially a department store in the way that C&A (R.I.P) was, but stocking the same type of clothes and other goods as M&S, BHS has been suffering of late. The store I work in is particularly quiet, although it does seem to produce very loyal customers.
Customer Service
... ...work in BHS are a very nice bunch of people. They are very helpful and there is always staff around to help any customers who feel a bit lost – even the Iceland staff try to help out on queries, even though we know nothing about shoe sizes, children’s clothing or the infamous Choice Card (I’ll be getting to that later). I have never had any problem when buying from BHS and the staff always have a smile on their faces. You can return ...

Advantages: Good occasion gifts Disadvantages: Mean staff!
...From lamps to chocolate hearts, BhS stocks a wide range of products. The quality of the goods is not quite as great as M&S though. They don't fall apart, but the material and stitching doesn't seem to be of as good a quality as that of more expensive shops. But for this the goods are generally cheaper. For example, a pair of slippers are about £20 whereas in M&S they're about £30. The sell clothes for women, men and children. At occasions during the year (Valentines day, Halloween etc) BhS do a cool couple of shelves with "different" products on them. For example, thsi Valentines day I got my boyfriend a cute little devil bear that said "Ilove you" and a straw with 2 drinking spouts. Sad git I know I am!!! In total it was £6 for the talking bear and £1 for the straw. ...

Having previously worked at BHS i feel that i qualify easily to write an opinion about them. Working for them is a nightmare (but that's a different story) and shopping there can prove to be quite scary aswell!
The fashion ranges for men and women are very dated and are seriously lacking in street-cred. Over 65's and people people who like looking very casual LOVE it in here. Kids clothes are very popular and usually are of good quality, again they are over priced but they do sell everything a kid needs for wearing. They also have a wide selection of school uniforms regardless of the time of year which is good news for mums.

BHS has two entrances, so I feel sure that I could have waltzed out of the front entrance, with unpaid for trousers in hand and tripped my merry way through the hoards of shoppers on the street to the entrance door around the other side. Most department stores have something to attract you in, whether it's good displays ro a strong range of products or some big boy's toys to keep you occupied while Mrs dave27 is doing her fascist groove shopping thang.

BHS has long since been a favourite store of my families to shop at. They have an excellent range of products, particularly clothing. We regularly buy all the children's school clothing from them as they are excellent value for money.

Come Christmas they stock an excellent and quite extensive range of festive ... ...all know.

BHS or British Home Stores is a bit like C & A in concept. It has been on the High Street throughout my lifetime. But I hardly visit the stores nowadays.
During the 1970s I shopped at BHS more often than I do now. The clothes were of good quality and prices were quite reasonable. Nowadays discount stores such as Matalan and New Look have captured a lot of customers from BHS and Marks & Spencer.
In the early 1980s BHS formed an alliance with Sainsburys ... ...this did not materialise.
BHS was part of the Storehouse Group, which also comprised Mothercare. In recent years the share price has plummeted leading to the break-up of Storehouse.
C & A ceased its UK operations in January 2001. Unless there is a massive overhaul at BHS I fear the same fate could be happening to it as well. ...
