Does My Brain Look Big In This?

Advantages: Very competitive, challenging, improves your brain size!
Disadvantages: Addictive

== Big Brain Academy == My sister had asked for this game for Christmas because she has a DS and I couldn't wait to give it a go myself. I like games that test your intelligence and give you ways to improve your brain skills - which is exactly what Big Brain Academy does. It doesn't question you on general knowledge like who wants to be a millionaire or the weakest link, instead it trains you in five different categories which are think, memorize, ...

Creating a new player is very simple and all you have to do is click register and type in a name, but there is a maximum amount of four players allowed. Next to the names there is a grade that you have achieved in the test so that you know who is winning! When you choose a player you are then directed to the three classes: practice, test or versus. HOW BIG IS YOUR BRAIN?

Advantages: Improve on your brain skills, very competative!
Disadvantages: MY BRAIN IS NOW GETTING TO BIG FOR THE DOOR!

Well I can honestly say that I have never really been one for games consoles or computer games, probably because I have never been any good at them! I either find a game I can play and get addicted to it for a few weeks then get bored because there’s no challenge or the games is too hard and I don’t have the patience to stick at it and play the first level. I had a Playstation 2 which I got bored with after about 3 months and it just sat there collecting ...
...one. That was until I played on my friends’ game ‘brain training’ on the Nintendo DS and absolutely loved it! I decided to buy myself a DS out of my catalogue that came with two games. One of them was the brain training game and I played it religiously for a few months, every day, trying to beat my scores. As there is not many games I do like to play I decided to buy a similar game that I had seen on an advert called ‘Brain Academy’. OBJECT OF ...

Going for Platinum.

Advantages: Fun, colourful and motivational.
Disadvantages: Just don`t let it take over your life.

...I decided to buy the Big Brain Academy for the Nintendo DS. I tried the game a couple of times and was far from impressed. It struck me as quite childish, more suited to children. My 9 year old son loved it. The characters were of a cartoon varieity and I could not quite take it seriously. How could cartoons help improve your brain? Anyway....... ..............Don`t let first impressions put you off. It is now essential for me to have my daily fix ...
...that I noticed about the game was that it requires that you hold the DS lengthways. This is the other way around to the Brain Training games. The long part of the screen is at the bottom and the other screen above. At first this got on my nerves as I was used to holding it the other way. I soon got used to it though and actually quite like it now. The second thing that caught my attention were the colours. There are lots of colours suggesting that ...

More games for the brain!

Advantages: Keeps your best score and tests you on different aspects of intelligence.
Disadvantages: Not sure how to play it with other ds users yet.

I bought this game about a month after I bought Dr Kawashima's Brain Training. I love both games. While the "Brain Training" graphics make it perhaps more appealing to adults, the "Brain Academy" seems a lot more appealing for children. However this is still a fantastic game for adults. One of the main features I love about the Brain Academy (compared to Brain Training) is that your best score is always saved! This means I am quite happy to test ...
...I don't perform as well as my last test I will not lose my best mark! When I turned the game on I went to the "Test" straight away to check what my brain was like before any practice! I got D+ (I think D is the lowest grade you can get)! The highest you can achieve is A+, which is proving very difficult to achieve. After practicing I have now reached and become stuck on B- for a while and cannot seem to get any higher. I did stop training for about ...

TAKE YOUR BRAIN TO SCHOOL!

Advantages: Fun sounds and graphics, lots of exercises to try
Disadvantages: Limited lifespan once got high grade on Test

...games that were released, so Big Brain Academy caught my eye. It is just like brain training, but is aimed at a younger audience as it makes use of more colourful graphics and animated characters as well as chirpy music. This game doesn't take itself too seriously, yet you can feel yourself thinking as you play it and you know you are giving your brain a workout. There are two sections to the game. One is a Test, where you are graded at the end ...
...Categories include things like Memory, Compute and Analyse. The other is Practice where you can go over the exercises again, get good at them, beat your own score and win bronze, gold and platinum medals. The score system is based on Brain Weight. The higher the score, the more you brain weighs. Anything round about 250g usually gives you a gold medal. Example of exercises: Most of the exercises involve using the touch screen to either draw lines ...

Are you a librarian, an architect or Socrates?!

Advantages: You don't need to read to be able to grow that brain! Fun for all the family!
Disadvantages: You can't set up visitor profiles - only permanent academy members can play

At last, a computer game even I enjoy (a 42 year old mum of 2!). We bought a Nintendo DS for my daughter to play with on long car journeys and this game came as an option to add to the package. It's really easy to set up and you simply follow the on-screen instructions to create your personal profile ready to get going, helped along the way by the be-spectacled cartoon character "Dr Lobe"! A maximum of four people can be set up as permanent members ...

Each are has a selection of "games" at easy, normal and hard levels - on average 3 games with 3 levels each per section. Each game is timed - the more items you complete in the least time, the higher your score. DS BIG BRAIN ACADEMY!!!!!!!!!

Advantages: some good categories and will test your brain
Disadvantages: becomes a little boring but still fun game to own

...test your brain out on Big Brain Academy! This game will test your brain and give you a grade! Train your brain in five different categories at the big brain academy!. These are the 5 categories in the game: Analysis Computing Think Memorize Identify You can also play versus if another friend has a ds you can play head to head against each other to see which one is smarter. You can then go ont the Test mode. It will pick one random activity ...
...and give you an overall grade. I would recommend this game to 11+ as some of the activities are a little to hard for the younger children. As I still struggle with some of them!. It says 3= on the front of the box but i still say 11+. I have had this game for a few months now and still play it often. You get medals for completeing the categories either bronze silver, gold, or platinum. Overall i would say it is a good game. i have become a little ...

The best brain game for the DS out there for sure!

Advantages: The graphics and fun look to the game
Disadvantages: Not as many puzzles as I would like

There are a lot of brain training games around for the DS but hand on heart this is by far the best one! The graphics and music make the game more fun that the original brain games and fun for the whole family. Although there isn't very many games to play the games are much better than on other brain games. The first thing you'll see is the homeroom which is where the game begins. Register your name and you're good to go. You can plays the games ...

There's also a Versus mode for play multiplayer where you can connect 2 DS consoles wirelessly in the same room and play against each other. There are 5 cateogories with 3 games in each - Think, Memorise, Analyse, Compute and Identify. Each game in practice mode you should aim to get a gold medal in - it ...

Big Brain Academy Review

Advantages: Enjoyable, addictive
Disadvantages: Not one for the more hardcore gamer

Big Brain Academy is the second title in Nintendo's brain game series. You can test your brain power in five different categories: thinking, memorization, computation, analysis, and identification. Some of the games included are comparing stacks of coins to find the higher value and quickly counting a huge stack of books. Each exercise takes less than a minute to complete so it's the sort of game you can pick up and play if you have a few minutes ...
...weight of your brain, your best areas and the areas you need to work on. Overall the games are good because they don't only rely on mathematics but require a variety of skills and an all round intelligence is required to gain a good overall score. These sorts of games have come under fire a bit recently as being for casual gamers, but as long as Nintendo still make games like Super Mario Sunshine I won't complain! ...

Big Brain, Big Fun

Advantages: A great collection of addictive mini games
Disadvantages: none really

This was the first game I played on the DS. My girlfriend's parents had purchased a DS and this game and let us have a go on it. I was immediately impressed with the game and even after a short amount of use, I could feel I have been using my brain, that sort of non specific tingling feeling in your head like lots of blood is flowing round your braing cogs. My first attempts on some of very varied minigames were not that great but after practicing ...
...and my rating and brain weight started to increase as I did better. My girl friend and I were so impressed with it we decided to buy our own DS and this game. I liked the way that when you are given your results after testing your brain, it is broken down into sections (memory, calculations etc) which show where your strengths are and where you need to improve. This is a nice touch as it allows you to see what you would be best off practicing. I ...

How much does your brain weigh

Advantages: fun, keeps your interest.
Disadvantages: music is a little annoying, less sophiticated than some other versions.

THis game is designed to keep your brain active via training sessions and measure how \'Big\' your brain is via a test. The game has five areas that can be trained, compute, identify, think, memorise and analyse and eachCategory has 3 different games with three difficulty level so there is quite a lot to keep it interesting. What I liked about this game was when you test yourself they test you on every area, so the result is more rounded than on ...
...you which areas you are best on and which one's you will benefit from practicing more. The results are given in the form of a brain weight, and while you can use this to see if you are improving, it isn\'t really very tangible, like an actual age as in other games, although it does give ou an average. The results also grade your brain and tell you from analysing the areas you have performed best in which typr of brain you have , such as a fashion ...

Quick review of Big Brain Academy (Nintendo DS)

Be warned! This is HIGHLY ADDICTIVE! Especially if you have a competitive personality! Not only try to beat your friends & families scores (or grades) but you can battle against your own scores! Repetiveness of the games does tire eventually, but put it down for a few days and you will soon be addicted again! ...

Another in a long list of brain training games

Advantages: Definitely gives your brain a work out
Disadvantages: Lacking a fun element

Having already bought the Dr Kawashima Brain Training game and enjoyed it I decided to purchase this game too. Bad idea. Unlike the DK game, this is not fun at any point. Of course it is a brain training game so there's going to be work in it but the difference between this game and the DK game is that this feels like work from the get go. The good side to it is however that the puzzles are more difficult than those on DK which can be rather boring. ...
...that it could have been presented in a more fun way as opposed to the tedious classroom style. Perhaps if the adverts I'd seen for it hadn't been presented in such a way as to hint at the element of fun I would be less disappointed with it. Overall if you feel like giving your brain a workout this is worth your money. If you feel like doing this everyday and you want an element of fun, this is certainly lacking. ...

It's great! Now it's boring...

Advantages: Funny people
Disadvantages: Get boring very quickly

Big Brain Academy is a bit like a school for your brain! The game is rated 3+ but I would give it 7+, It is quite easy to understand after you have played it a couple of times and it then starts getting a bit boring...but if you have a friend with a Nintendo DS you can play Big Brain Academy with them too so it's much more fun playing it that way because if you just try and beat your high score every time you just want to put it down in the next ...
