5 Stars Does My Brain Look Big In This? Review with images 12/02/2008

Advantages Advantages Very competitive, challenging, improves your brain size!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Addictive

Big Brain Academy My sister had asked for this game for Christmas because she has a DS and I couldn't wait to give it a go myself. I like games that test your intelligence and give you ways to improve your brain skills - which is exactly what Big Brain Academy does. It doesn't question you on general knowledge like who wants to be a millionaire or the weakest link, instead it trains you in five different categories which are think, memorize, analyze, identify and compute. When you switch the game on you enter the "homeroom" which is a list of all the players that you have made files for ... more

Advantages Advantages Improve on your brain skills, very competative!

Disadvantages Disadvantages MY BRAIN IS NOW GETTING TO BIG FOR THE DOOR!

Well I can honestly say that I have never really been one for games consoles or computer games, probably because I have never been any good at them! I either find a game I can play and get addicted to it for a few weeks then get bored because there’s no challenge or the games is too hard and I don’t have the patience to stick at it and play the first level. I had a Playstation 2 which I got bored with after about 3 months and it just sat there collecting dust so I promised myself I would never buy another one. That was until I played on my friends’ game ‘brain training’ on the Nintendo DS and ... more

Advantages Advantages Fun, colourful and motivational.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Just don`t let it take over your life.

Being swept along by the current brain training craze, I decided to buy the Big Brain Academy for the Nintendo DS. I tried the game a couple of times and was far from impressed. It struck me as quite childish, more suited to children. My 9 year old son loved it. The characters were of a cartoon varieity and I could not quite take it seriously. How could cartoons help improve your brain? Anyway....... ..............Don`t let first impressions put you off. It is now essential for me to have my daily fix of Big Brain Academy. The first thing that I noticed about the game was that it requires that ... more

Advantages Advantages Keeps your best score and tests you on different aspects of intelligence.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not sure how to play it with other ds users yet.

I bought this game about a month after I bought Dr Kawashima's Brain Training. I love both games. While the "Brain Training" graphics make it perhaps more appealing to adults, the "Brain Academy" seems a lot more appealing for children. However this is still a fantastic game for adults. One of the main features I love about the Brain Academy (compared to Brain Training) is that your best score is always saved! This means I am quite happy to test myself on a regular basis as I know that if I don't perform as well as my last test I will not lose my best mark! When I turned the game on I went to ... more

Advantages Advantages Fun sounds and graphics, lots of exercises to try

Disadvantages Disadvantages Limited lifespan once got high grade on Test

After purchasing a Nintendo DS console a few years ago, I wanted a game that would really make use of the touch screen. I became interested in the new wave of Brain Training games that were released, so Big Brain Academy caught my eye. It is just like brain training, but is aimed at a younger audience as it makes use of more colourful graphics and animated characters as well as chirpy music. This game doesn't take itself too seriously, yet you can feel yourself thinking as you play it and you know you are giving your brain a workout. There are two sections to the game. One is a Test, where you ... more

    Advantages Advantages lots of puzzles

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none for me!

Big Brain Academy for the ds is the 1st Brain Academy ds game released in 2006, it is a puzzle game that also grades you on how quickly and correctly you answer the questions. When you are playing this game, you can work on your user profile, this is where you answer a range of questions on different modes, Easy, Medium, and Hard and later on Expert. You work through different mini games in different categories, and when you are finished you receive a score and a different medal, the aim of the game is to get the best medal on the hardest mode. You receive your scores the basis of how fast you ... more

Advantages Advantages You don't need to read to be able to grow that brain! Fun for all the family!

Disadvantages Disadvantages You can't set up visitor profiles - only permanent academy members can play

At last, a computer game even I enjoy (a 42 year old mum of 2!). We bought a Nintendo DS for my daughter to play with on long car journeys and this game came as an option to add to the package. It's really easy to set up and you simply follow the on-screen instructions to create your personal profile ready to get going, helped along the way by the be-spectacled cartoon character "Dr Lobe"! A maximum of four people can be set up as permanent members of the academy. The aim is to broaden your web of intelligence by completing practice sections in a variety of areas; Think, Memorize, Analyze ... more

Advantages Advantages some good categories and will test your brain

Disadvantages Disadvantages becomes a little boring but still fun game to own

Come and test your brain out on Big Brain Academy! This game will test your brain and give you a grade! Train your brain in five different categories at the big brain academy!. These are the 5 categories in the game: Analysis Computing Think Memorize Identify You can also play versus if another friend has a ds you can play head to head against each other to see which one is smarter. You can then go ont the Test mode. It will pick one random activity from each group and will then add up your score and give you an overall grade. I would recommend this game to 11+ as some of the activities are a ... more

Advantages Advantages The graphics and fun look to the game

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not as many puzzles as I would like

There are a lot of brain training games around for the DS but hand on heart this is by far the best one! The graphics and music make the game more fun that the original brain games and fun for the whole family. Although there isn't very many games to play the games are much better than on other brain games. The first thing you'll see is the homeroom which is where the game begins. Register your name and you're good to go. You can plays the games in practice mode (i.e. one at a time which is a good idea until you've mastered a few of them) or play them in test mode which is a test of a few ... more

Advantages Advantages A great collection of addictive mini games

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none really

This was the first game I played on the DS. My girlfriend's parents had purchased a DS and this game and let us have a go on it. I was immediately impressed with the game and even after a short amount of use, I could feel I have been using my brain, that sort of non specific tingling feeling in your head like lots of blood is flowing round your braing cogs. My first attempts on some of very varied minigames were not that great but after practicing and spending more time with it I was definitely improving and my rating and brain weight started to increase as I did better. My girl friend and I ... more
