Binatone MD 750/2 Digital Cordless Answering Machine
We bought this phone in August 2004 from Asda at a cost of £29.99. This was a superb price for them as they currently retail at £44.99. Why this phone
We chose this package over the Binatone 750 (one handset) as we always have to run from one room to another to answer the phone. You know what it's like you walk out the sitting room and what happens ring ring. So we thought this was the ideal ... ...say it looks good. The binatone logo is right below the ear piece on the handset. Base (main)
The main base is once again silver and black in colour. As you look at the base you will see to the left hand side it has 2 lights (cover them in a bit) and you can also locate your handset from this base too. Simply press the handset locator on the left hand side. It has the Binatone logo positioned to the bottom near the middle of the phone. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Advantages: walk around and out of house! Disadvantages: none yet
I bought these 2 cordless binatone phones in june of 2003 as a birthday presie for myself! I paid £50 for them including p&p from ebay. I thought I had a bargain but realised afterwards I only saved about £10 on the current price at the time. Have just had a look and they are selling on Amazon for £50 at the time of writing (feb 2005). So perhaps I had a bargain after all.
I went out and bought these basically because whenever I went around a friends ... ...etc...and whenever she had to call a company and invariably ends up going through to a call centre, she just put her phone on to the speakerphone facility and went off and made a cuppa., while the hold music tinkled away... Well I began to see that this type of cordlless dect phone is very convenient for these reasons. I knew I did not want non-digital cordless (analogue) as a friend had one at his house and when he called me, whenever he moved there ...

Advantages: Speaker phone and nice design Disadvantages: A little complicated
I can't say I'm involved in the telephone selecting decisions in the house, however I think it's fair to say I am involved in using it. Binatone's slogan is 'innovation you can afford', costing £39.95 back in 2005 for the MD 750 Twin set - called that because it comes with two phones, duh. I've just spent the past half an hour rummaging through the boxes under the stairs and finally came out all dusty with the box, so now the review can commence.
... ...looking slightly stylish in design, showing the product and then having something written about the product beside it.. as well as in four different other languages below that. 'Digital cordless telephones with answering system'. Now I'm sure in my household we don't take full advantage of the many features this phone apparently has, because whilst we already have an answering machine with NTL - it wasn't until just now I knew you could set up an ...

Advantages: Good value. Cordless. Good battery time. Disadvantages: Can't send SMS messages to mobiles
...many times. I spotted the Binatone MD750 Twin advertised in the Argos catalogue and it seemed like a good idea, as we could have a the second phone in the bedroom without having to repair the extension socket which had stopped working.
The Binatone has digital reception, which gives it better reception and sound quality than an old analogue telephone. The reception is equally as good on both the main phone and the extension. As it is cordless, it ... ...realise that you can’t send SMS messages to a mobile phone, which is a bit of a drawback in this day and age, when most people have mobiles.
At £54.99 in Argos, I think that this Binatone dual phone cordless system is a good budget buy, and well priced. ...

Advantages: Good looking phone at a cracking price Disadvantages: Display a little difficult to read
...the manual I phoned the Binatone help number and a very helpful woman immediately confirmed that there was a fault. Took them back to Comet and had them replaced no problem. So far the second set has performed perfectly.
Signal range is 50m indoors (established this with Binatone, doesn't tell you this on the box) and outdoor range 300m, so unless you have a very large property you shouldn't encounter any problems. Sound is good and amazingly for ... ...think Binatone will have the market to themselves for a little while. It's a shame my first set of these had a fault (which is why I have marked them down for reliability) but overall I must say I'm very happy with these phones and would definitely recommend them. ...

Advantages: Good price, long life Disadvantages: looks a bit cheap
...looked the part and the Binatone less so. Binatone was a brand I'd had before and not rated and Bt being the brand which had just failed. Features on the two equivalent models, I chose the twin packs as I considered two cordless phones and the existing corded phone (emergency use in power cut) in the study to be best-suited to our needs.
There was a huge price difference £60.00 in favour of Binatone and as the experience was less recent I decided ... ...from the usually helpful staff at Asda, if the quality was poor.
The units arrived at home and after a small concern about which charger went with which base unit (the writing was tiny), the initial overnight charging began.
Setting up of the phones was minimal, choosing different ring tones for internal/external calls and setting a answerphone message, all other settings I felt were well set as defaults.
Plugged in the units one in the ground ...

...line. The Binatone MD750 was the answer to our prayers and we now have one phone downstairs and one upstairs meaning the phone gets answered quickly. However there are those occasions where you can hear the phone and not answer it due to it being wireless, the smallness of it also means that both can go missing easily potentially missing important calls. Personally i have had very good experiences with this phone and i always get clear and good quality ... ...also great it is just like using a mobile phone which is what more and more people are becoming accustomed to.
The frustration of losing it can cause stressful situations, although the pager and redial functions go a longway to aliviating this! The phone however is a great one and at a cost of £50 for two hand sets with thier own chargers it is also very cheap. The phone offers the following (found at www.binatonetelecome.com):

Advantages: Stylish, Compact, Easy to use, Well made,Good Value for Money. Disadvantages: Only come in Silver.
Really good value for your hard earned cash! I was initially sceptical about the maker 'Binatone', I remembered from my distant youth everyone had cheap trannys & music decks made by this company because they couldn't (or wouldn't) afford anything more expensive. Well you live & you learn; These 'phones are a really good buy!!
I got mine off the Internet for just short of a hundred quid including p+p and have seen them advertised since for even ... ...a black back) but don't let this put you off, they are really stylish & silver makes them look really cool & expensive!
What do you get for your money? Well, you get a Triple pack of DECT handsets, which includes 1 base & 2 additional chargers. The 'phones have a digital answering machine system built in and are GAP compatible. You have the ability to page any handset from your location and can programme each handset to ring with a different tone. ...

Advantages: built in speakerphone Disadvantages: not many
I bought these a few weeks ago as they had built in speaker phone which enables a hands free conversation a must with a new baby in the house .
You also can put them onto any of the 4 pods handy if your like me and leave things lying around . You can also transfer calls to the other phone and you can also call internally to each phone and to find the phone that you have left somewhere you can page it from the base pod.
They come in a stylish Grey ... ...with chargers. They measure 12" in length. They are quite sturdy phone I still haven't manages to break them yet which for me is good .
If you drop them the most likely damage is to your knees when the back comes off and the rechargeable batteries go for a roll under things .
When the batteries are needing charged they beep although the talk time is about 9 hours The answer phone is a great feature and easy to use. The messages are also very easy ...

...not a great lover of Binatone products preferring the meatier suppliers like Panasonic, but I was actually quite impressed with this phone system. Advantages: Ease of use, good range, clear signal Disadvantages: Can easily mistake for a mobile at times
I recently bought one of these duo packs to replace my aging corded phone and even more decrepit answer phone and I must say I have been fairly pleased with this product.
It is easy to program for speed dialling.
It is great to finally have a built in answer phone - however, it is difficult for call screening as you cannot hear the answer phone when it kicks in.
The speaker phone side of this is a doddle to use.
Also very easy to use the internal ... ...something is needed - all we do now is place a call!!!!!!!!!!!
Overall, even though it is a low priced set, I have been impressed with it.
The battery life is very good.
The choice of ringtones is a bit limited though - I would have preferred the more usual landline ringing sound. ...

Advantages: Cheapest GAP compatible answerphone? Disadvantages: the name
...GAP compatible I noticed the Binatone MD750 - £30 and GAP compatible. (Personally I dislike the Binatone name as it conjures up images of poor quality 1970s music centers!)
Is this possibly the cheapest GAP answerphone?
(GAP is an industry standard that allows any make GAP handset to link to any make GAP base station).
The handset and answerphone are fully featured (I wont bore you with the deatils), though the answerphone has a fairly short message ... ...handsets as well as the Binatone handset.
Sound quality is excellent, and the range is as good as my previous BT on-air base station.
My only negative is that when the handset is on the base station, the handset display is horizontal rather than angled upwards, so isn't easy to see until you lift the phone. ...

Advantages: Great package at a great price. Disadvantages: None so far....
We bought this as at Asda about 8 months ago for about £20 as the box was badly damaged. It was an impulse buy but we'd been hunting around for a week or 2 for a replacemnt for our old ones. It was an offer too good to miss given the prices we had seen them going for.
I'm glad we bought them. Very simple to set up and use. Very easy to walk around the house with and also a fair distance around in the back garden too. I think the furthest I've been ... ...worked fine. I've no idea what the actual distance is supposed to be, but thats as far as I can go in my back garden! The main reason we bought them is the fact that it has a hands free capability. I often sit on the computer and talk on the phone at the same time - benefits of broadband, and these phones do just what I want them to. The answer phone is easy to operate too.
All in all an excellent phone pack. ...

Advantages: compact.. easy to set up .. light Disadvantages: looks a bit cheep
I needed a new phone as I had just had a new phone line put in and did not have one. I needed it to be cheep and it had to be cordless.
I choose this phone off ebay and put in a bid of £15, which to my surprise I won.
When it arrives I unpacked it and began to set it up. This process only took a few minutes and was very easy and straightforward. I then had to leave the phone to charge for 24 hours prior to using it. I have so far found this product ... ..."I dose what it says on the box." It has an answering machine, which has been very useful and is lightweight. The phone itself dose look a little cheep but you get what you pay for.
The sound quality is ok as long as your hearing is good. Even on the highest ear sound setting it can sometimes be quite faint the range although ok, decreases the quality considerably when you move away from the base unit. I have only to go in to my kitchen, which is ...
