Birmingham City Football Club Nickname(s) Blues Founded 1875 as Small Heath Alliance Ground St Andrew's (Capacity: 30,009[1]) President Carson Yeung Chairman Vico Hui Manager Alex McLeish League Premier League ----------------------------- When Karen Brady was the big cheese at Birmingham City she came to visit Northamptonshire Cricket Club (my team) for some possible promotion tie-ins, which seemed odd at the time as Warwickshire CCC would surely be her nearest team across the road at Edgbaston. But, as it turned out, it was at the time just before her and Birmingham City's tax problems were ... more

Once again the Worthington Cup proves it's worth! It is great to see teams really fighting for what has been in the past widely regarded by some sections of the football community as a Mickey Mouse competition. Can you imagine if Birmingham won the cup and therefore qualified for Europe and also won promotion to the Premiership aswell. I am sure they would have no problem in attracting additional players to strengthen the squad and do enough to achieve what both Charlton and Ipswich have this season. Obviously promotion is the highest priority with this providing the bread and butter for a ... more

First an apology, this opinion will not simply be about Birmingham City Football club, more about a new proposed system that could rearrange the football league as we know it. The new program goes by the name of the Phoenix league, Birmingham are apparently going to one of the forerunners for the new league, and I have some rather strong feelings about them in particular. So basically this is another excuse for me to have a go at something, enjoy! Like I say there is a new proposed system that could promise to make the most drasric changes since the introduction of the Premiership. It is ... more

It has been mentioned in a certain newspaper, that Birmingham City are interested in signing a £6 Million rated striker. They will face stiff competition from Arsenal who are beleived to be on the strikers trial aswell and Serie A side Bologna, he is Torino star Marco Ferrante. The striker was one of the bright lights in Torino's season, which saw them relegated to Serie B. If Blues do splash the cash and sign Ferrante, he will be the clubs biggest signing. But I doubt that they will be able to afford him, as they have just signed Horsfield, and they have said that they will have to sell a ... more

This year Birmingham look really strong. If they can avoid injuries and have faith in Trevor Francis I'm sure they will finally join the big boys in the Prem. With new signings such as Geoff Horsfield (From Fulham) and Right-Back Nicky Eaden (From Barnsley) they look good even though Gary Rowett went to Leicester. If some of there long term injuries return like Stan Lazaridis I'm positive Birmingham can go up even if it has to be though the play-offs. I predict that Birmingham will finish 2nd in the First Division this season. ... more

birmingham city look to see like one of those teams that just sort of hang round in mid table with out making any head way to the top or declining to the bottom. they need to start signing a few more decent players if they are to get anywhere near challenging for a place in the premier league and especially if they are going to survive with the big boys. st.andrews is about the only place they can win at and they have trouble in performing well away from home. they need to sharpen up a bit in front of goal too ... more

having been a bluenose for alomost 30 years now i feel its abut time that the fans of the team were given something in return for there loyalty we are now starting to see something happening first we got the GOLDS and Sullivan they then got TREVOR FRANCIS back to his rightfull home he in turn bought us a team that is actually playing some decent football we have a beautifull new stadium ( does anyone remamber the old one )this season we actually have a chance to do something serious to the others in the league (leave them behind when we got to the premiership)but most off all we have you the ... more

Birmingham City football club have lived in the shadow of Aston Villa football club for many years now. But Trevor Francis seems to be getting in the right players to lead them to the premiership, well he hopes. They have made a good signing in Geoff Horsfield, £2 million I think, and he is the bloke who will get Blues alot of goals. They have a good midfield, and the rest of the team is ok. Hopefully with the right backing Trevor Francis can lead Blues out of the first division into the premier league. The only thing that worries me is that they have transfer listed a couple of there players ... more

birmingham city football club located just 20 mins from the city center,a team whose injury list cost them an automatic place in the premier league, what a hell of season for them and there supporters.Trevor Francis has worked wonders in the last four seasons and with the continued support from club directors Francis is sure to add to an already strong team, with new summer singing raring to go and old faces ready to be off loaded, the season ahead brings alot of promise.I,m sure they will improve on last seasons dissapointment in the playoffs and i know this will only make them stronger. ... more

Last season Birmingham City missed out on promotion, after loosing in the play-offs. This season could be the year, that Blues finally make it to the top flight. If they are up there it will be tough, as Bolton, Wolves, Wimbledon, Blackburn etc are all very good teams. I fancy Balckburn to go up, as they have a good size squad, good management, and a decent ground. I read in a paper that someone reckons that the Blues board should give Trevor Francis £25 million to spend on players, I do not think so, Blues do not have that sort of money, more like £2.5 million. They now have a good side, and ... more
