Advantages Advantages Looks great, easy to use, massive improvement on previous models

Disadvantages Disadvantages Battery life not fantastic, can't compete with iPhone

My Blackberry History I've had a few Blackberry handsets now and having got used to each one for either 12 or 18 months, the enormous improvements in the handsets have impressed me every time. My most recent upgrade has been to the Curve 8900, which is, without a doubt, the best Blackberry that I've had to date and, probably, the best mobile phone I've had, full stop. Most businesses currently use Blackberry handsets, due to the ease with which they work alongside Microsoft Office products and, indeed, the Blackberry email server has only just started working fully on a Mac. I was previously ... more

Blackberry Curve 8900 Introduction Way back in 1973, mobile phones were only just being invented, and very basic they were too, not to mention uncannily large. Who would have thought that nearly forty years later, modern day mobile phones are at the forefront of the technology world. With every year that goes by, mobile phones are becoming massively more advanced, and more and more people are joining the mobile revolution. I remember my first mobile phone, I got it about fifteen years ago, and it was big… and basic. When I think back to how we used to use mobile phones, and how exciting we all ... more

Advantages Advantages blackberry messenger service, highly popular

Disadvantages Disadvantages pretty much everything else!

I got my phone contract with 02 in summer of 2009 and continued to use it on PAYG just for the infamous blackberry service until about feb this year when it finally went kaput. When I first purchased this phone, it was during the growth of blackberry's popularity. There are a lot of pros and cons with this phone, a lot I would say not specific to this model but related to blackberrys in general but I will go on to explain why I am on the fence. Description It is a neat, small little smartphone, which is very lightweight and easy to use. It is quite an old version of a blackberry compared to ... more

Advantages Advantages Good quality materials, controls, ability is great!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages slow video streaming.

I've owned my Blackberry curve for around 5-months and before I go into any depth with this review, I'd like to announce its had no problems since purchase. So despite what many people say about these phones, here’s one persons positive opinion of their reliability. Do bare in mind though, that I have kept my phone in its protective pouch when not in use to preserve its exterior. A clear and precise high resolution screen makes for clear text and image quality which improves usability. The software on the phone and its operating system (as a smart phone) are fantastic to utilise. Menus are ... more

First of all, let me say I have never owned a blackberry or a smartphone before (although I do like to play on my brother's nokia e71) so I cannot compare it to other blackberries and smartphones, but as a new user only. key features: * Camera (3.2 MP) * Wi-Fi® Support * Built-in GPS * Enhanced Media Player * Video Recording * BlackBerry® Maps * Wireless Email * Organizer * Browser * Phone * Corporate Data Access * SMS/MMS so why I chose blackberry? I had been contimplating buying one for a while but neither the bold nor storm appealled due to the size and the fact it looked too complicated to ... more

Advantages Advantages lots of features, easy to personalise, easy to use.

Disadvantages Disadvantages not the best camera, internet not the fastest, applications are limited

History The blackberry curve was the first phone that i had on a contract, which i bought in January 2009. Before that i owned a Sony Ericsson w850i, so for anybody that knows phones you will know the massive degree of difference between the phones. But at the time i figured 'hey, it does internet and it looks good' sorted. Cost I purchased this phone on an orange contract from phones for you, and at the time it was £35 a month for 18 months with 600 minutes unlimited texts and unlimited blackberry internet. This was perfect for me then becuase i nattered...alot!!! Now you can pick up this ... more

Advantages Advantages Great for phone for business and personal use.

Disadvantages Disadvantages The trackball breaks a little too easily

I used to hate mobile phones. I didn't get my first until I turned 26 in 2001 and that was under sufferance. Over time they've gone from something I've detested to tolerated to now can't live without. This love of mobile telephony has grown since the company I work for invested in BlackBerries four years ago. I am now the personification of the CrackBerry addict. Mine is with me all my waking hours. And if I put it down and can't find it panic sets in. My eyes grow wide with terror and I start to foam at the mouth like a rabid dog. As such I feel quite well placed to review the current device ... more

Advantages Advantages Looks great, some nice features, well-integrated social media.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Fiddly keypad and touchpad, no touch-screen.

There are plenty of pluses to the Blackberry Curve, but for the fatter-fingered amongst us, it can be a bit of an ordeal trying to find them. As clever and handy as it probably is having a whole keyboard tucked in beneath the screen, composing a message or e-mail tends to be a chore. My thumb covers half the keys, and mashing out a sentence takes a while. In the absence of a dialling wand, filing your nails into pin-sharp points also does the job. The tracker-pad's equally frustrating. Less than a centimetre square, it torments you with silent glee. You know the icon you want; you can see the ... more

Advantages Advantages Feature packed, easy to use, nice big screen, good for everything.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Makes you lazy, short battery life.

Im a bit behind the times, what with the Blackberry storm, the Iphone 3g and all the other new phones out at the moment, but i recently got my hands on a Blackberry Curve, for free via vodafone. I have a to say, i love it. I was worried it might be a bit poncy or "business man"-like, but it isn't really. I mean, it could be, but that's not the way i use it. I use it for the simple things in life, listening to music, making phone calls, sending texts, taking pictures, all the stuff i used to do with my old phone (before it broke :(). The blackberry is a blessing and a curse in disguise as a ... more

Blackberry Curve 8900 I'd never been the type to want a Blackberry before. In fact, whenever I thought of 'blackberry' I thought of a big, bulky phone that'd practically require a full workman force to carry it. Ok, so my thoughts were a little exaggarated, but essiantally - wasn't it a businesspersons phone? So there I was, looking in the phone shop. Then suddenly, I saw it. A Blackberry Curve 8900. But when I saw it was mostly on contract, I'd gave up my hopes, as I'd never had a contract phone before, and how could I convince my parents to give me one now? Well, after 3 days of pressuring ... more
