    Recently I discovered that the tyres of me VW Golf 1.8 were badly worn and that replacement was urgently needed. According to the manual, I required four 195/65/15. Continental, it appears, is the recommended choice of Volkswagen. However, I was need of new tyres and didn’t really bother what brand. I had a look around my local town and came back with three quotes, ranging from Kwick-Fit to my local tyre dealer. Kwick-Fit came out most expensive, a staggering £85.67 per tyre (Continental Premium Contact 2) and Euromaster recommended me a Michelin Energy E3A for an equally heavy £88.45. My ... more

    I passed my driving test at the grand old age of 24, bought my first car, and thought I was all set for the world of motoring. Everyone tells you that having a car is expensive, but you don't quite believe them until it happens! So, amongst other things, it was recommended to me that I needed a set of new tyres on the back of my car.     If i ever need a tyre replaced this is one of the very first places I look. Their prices are very competitive and their customer service is fantastic. The website is easy to use. It has lots of helpful information to assist you in selecting the correct tyre for your vehicle. When you search for tyres, you will normally be presented with the options for Mid-Range or Premium tyres. Usually by clicking on the tyre type, you get a further review of the tyre.     I have been meaning to rewrite this review for a long time, now I have the time spare to do it. This company is the first independent I have found who will sell you tyres via the internet. By independent I mean somewhere other than ATS, Kwik Fit etc, you get the picture. When you first open the site you are faced with a very user friendly home page, the theme is tyre related and is mainly black with helpful links top & bottom.     I bought 4 Premium Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tyres from BLACKCIRCLES.com as recommended by their online order system at total price of over £700.00. After less than 6,000 miles, the rear tyres (which were from a different batch number than the front tyres) were totally smooth - completely illegal to drive on. The front tyres were only worn by 1mm over the same period (i.e. 7mm tread left). I sent the rear tyres back asking for an explanation.     My partner ordered two new tyres for our car and went to a garage in Milton Keynes to have them replaced. The new tyres were installed on the front wheels of the car. Less than one week later, one of the front tyres became flat - whilst I was driving the car by myself on the motorway. This could have been an extremely dangerous situation if other drivers on the motorway had not allowed me to get from the outside lane over to the hard shoulder and quickly. The RAC recovery guy inspected the wheel before he put the emergency wheel on and told me that one of the alloy wheel nuts was missing too ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Incompetent and unhelpful in dealing with the results of their incompetence.

    I ordered a tyre through Blackcricles and had it fitted by their local fitter. the site seemed very professional and straightforward, with a good choice and the product I wanted; a Uniroyal rainsport 2 tyre. No problem, but at high speed the car vibrated quite badly. I thought there must have been a problem with the fitting and had no problem arranaging for the fitter to inspect it. However, they found no problem with the fitting and concluded that the tyre was faulty. Normally they said this wouldn't have been a problem and they could have replaced it from a 'normal' supplier.     I think you all need to read paperwork and do not sign for condition of wheels as you are signing away your rights. I had 2 tyres fitted and wheel rim mysteriously had two large dents in after tyre was fitted. Despite never being curbed and only driven by 2 drivers and 20,000 miles on. Garage who fitted them lied to black circles about damage saying it was present before fitting but strangely their signature on sheet shows no damage before or after fitting, as obviously I would have challenged them.
