    As my Ciao profile will demonstrate, I watch rather a lot of movies. If I’m in indoors, television generally bores me senseless, and if I’m going to be sat in front of the thing, I’d much rather watch a movie than anything else. The cinema is one option, but two things put me off that – the price and the fact that the larger part of the population has no idea of how to behave in public.     So, can the traditional high street DVD rental store survive? Like HMV, Blockbuster are the last of their kind on the high street still trying to compete with the internet and both groups have seen financial turmoil, Blockbuster U.S. filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, although Blockbuster U.K. is a separate entity. But that is surely a portent for the future. HMV have thrown Waterston's over the side of the balloon to try and stay afloat whilst Blockbuster have used their conglomerate power and funds elsewhere to try and kid themselves they can carry on renting films on the high street.     You might see a sudden surge in film opinions from me over the coming weeks - I successfully bid for a year’s worth of Blockbusters rentals on the crème egg website a few days ago, you see. I’ve always been a massive fan of Blockbusters, but I’ve tended to focus my attention more to the Games section than anywhere else, being a console addict.     To those who regularly read my opinions it will probably come as no surprise that I am writing an opinion on a video store. The fact of the matter is I watch a disturbingly large number of films and figured that I’d write about my preferred, well only, place of rental. This opinion is especially relevant in light of several of Blockbuster’s recent ‘loyalty’ award schemes that have greatly improved its standing in my eyes, but I’ll get to them later.     Oops wrong Blockbusters! Blockbusters (for those of you that don't know) is a video shop. This means that by becoming a member (which is free) you are allowed to rent any of the videos that are currently in stock. You can also buy videos which are ex-rental, new videos/DVD's/games, food and drink such as popcorn, ice-cream and coke. Blockbusters claim that if they do not have a new release in stock you can rent in for free when it comes back into stock. this means that they have a lot of copies of the latest releases.     Block Buster video is one of the largest video/DVD hire shop around, and in my opinion it deserves it. Blockbuster offers a massive selection of new releases and classics; it has all the DVD's, videos and console games that you would ever want to hire. WHAT ARE THE PRICES LIKE? Prices in blockbuster are fair in my opinion. They are a little more expensive than other less known hire shops, but the extra is worth it. I do feel that this is justified because you know, when you got the Blockbuster, you will have no hassle or stress due to the large selection; you will always be able to come away ... more

    After having my first child I realised that evenings out were a thing of the past. My husband and I had 3 choices, wath tv, pay boared games or rent videos. Well tv is boring, no matter how many channels you have, board games get boring and videos are too pricy and watch too many then they also get boring. After about 4 weeks of being bored brainless we thought, right there must be new videos that we havn't seen now, so off to Block buster we went.     Blockbuster is the top video rental shop in Britain and America. It was started in America but like everything in America, it eventually comes over to the UK. Everyone knows off Blockbuster because there must be one in every town or city and Blockbuster are always avdertising on television. The shop sells a good range of top video's, DVD's and games for the playstation and Nintendo etc. As soon as a new film or game comes out Blockbuster manage to get several copies of the film or game, so you are sure to be able to grab a copy of it.     Blockbuster must be the best know video rental shop around – well it is in Cornwall anyway. There isn’t much competition. What’s good about Blockbuster is that they usually always have the film in stock that you want to see. They get quite a few copies of the new releases. They also rent Playstation and Dreamcast games. You can rent the film on DVD now but they don’t tend to have as many copies of the films in on DVD.
