Advantages Advantages You can follow popular culture at work with their inventive and evolving style.

Disadvantages Disadvantages The abandonment of Graham Coxon, one of Britain's most imaginative guitarists.

As this is [somehow] the first review about Blur - I am baffled as to why, for one of Britain's most inventive bands - nevertheless, as this is the first, of hopefully many reviews, I will be slightly broader than talking of just their latest work of fiction to travel bumpily through the pipework, 'Think Tank'. Like most, Parklife was the first thing I heard by them. If you have been trapped in a freezer for the last ten years, please allow me to briefly tell you what you missed. Regarded by many as one of the best 'pop-art' albums of the last decade, it is an album of 16 tracks (unless ... more

5 Stars All hail Blur 04/11/2004

Advantages Advantages great list of tracks

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

Blur has released a very best of blur in DVD which includes all the very best tracks of blur form 1990-1999. Blur is probably the best UK band that comes up in the 90’s. The disc was made in the relatively early days of DVD, so the menus are very basic. It is made up of walls with posters of the singles on, and you make your way across the wall and select the poster you want. It's a bit frustrating. The better way is to use the scene forward and scene backward buttons on your remote, and treat the DVD like a CD with pictures. The track numbers are on the back, and you can find the song you ... more

Advantages Advantages Bargain price, great track list

Disadvantages Disadvantages You have to like Blur!

Well, it may have been out for a while now, but I thought it prudent to write a review now as they are selling it for the bargain price of £4.99 at Music Zone (they certainly were 2 weeks ago!). I'm not normally one for writing long lists of tracks from an album but since most people know Blur's hits there does not seem a lot of point of reviewing every track individually. So here goes, from the top, 18 cracking tracks from the boys including :- 1) Beetlebum 2) Song 2 3) There's no other way 4) The Universal 5) Coffee and TV 6) Parklife 7) End of a Century 8) No distance left to run 9) Tender ... more

Advantages Advantages it takes you right back to the 90s! just fantastic!

Disadvantages Disadvantages it makes me feel bad that i didnt realise quite how many fab songs they actually did!

There is no other word than "FAB" for this album. They were, and still are the greatest indie/pop band of the 90s! Move over Oasis, Blur are great! Completely unrelated to the content of the CD but....the cover is great, its really eye catching and i had endless fun showing all my mates when i reallise that the word "Blur" is actualy printed on the case of the CD and not on the inlay! Amazing! Anyway to the songs. Yes they are a fabulaous band but some of the songs on here, in my opinion need not be included and, maybe were only added to "pad out" the CD, for example "For Tomorrow" and "Music ... more

Advantages Advantages some albums also come with a fantastic live album

    Disadvantages Disadvantages some dont

this has to be one of the best bands to have come out in the past decade or so. and a best of album by the best band is just a godsend. Personally there is not one track on this album that i dont like and with such a mix of styles there is something for everyone. the bonus cd that came out with a few limited editions is also brilliant as it contains about 10 live tracks to hear the band doing what they do best. this is one of thoses albums that you can listen to in any mood whether happy, sad, mellow or hyper its brilliant. the only thing missing from it is thoses few later tracks were the ... more

Advantages Advantages It quirky and its fun

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none!

There's something just amazing about Blur! I probably wasnt old enough to experience it properley in the 90s era but even now, I still find Blur's albums irresistable! I already had the Great Escape and Blur before deciding to get their greatest hits as well. My CD comes with an extra CD with 10 live bonus tracks which really are fantastic! It includes the big hits such as: girls & boys, beetlebum, tender... My favourite track has got to be 'the Universal', mainly due to the emotion in the chorus but the rest of the hits are great too. And its good that they are all hits and not just random ... more

Advantages Advantages Good collection of songs from career, good introduction to band

Disadvantages Disadvantages If you haven't already bought any Blur, you probably already don't like them...

This collection of songs sums up Blur and their music. Going from 'There's No other Way' right upto the recent hits of 'Tender' and 'Coffee and TV' this album shows how the band have changed over the years and sums up most of the great songs (or well known ones) that the former four piece produced. If you have only encountered Graham Coxon recently, or Damon Albarn's Gorillaz, this is a good collection to show you what happened before, and the mix of indie, with some electro and the beats of Parklife seem to sum up a period of the 90s and britpop which seems so long out of date now. The songs ... more
