Advantages Advantages free calls and texts,

Disadvantages Disadvantages technical problems, phone requirements, adverts, sent messages have a tag, delayed texts

With Blyk, the main incentive to join is the free calls and texts. These calls and texts can be made to any UK network anytime. There is no contract or fee, and the only downside is the adverts from companies, which is how Blyk can offer free calls and texts at no cost to the consumer. Texting 'JOIN' to the number on Blyk's website will give you an invite code which will allow you to sign up. This text will cost one standard messaging rate. Bearing in mind that Blyk is only for those aged between 16-24, you have to provide information to prove you are within the age range. If you sign up to ... more

Advantages Advantages Free calls and texts

Disadvantages Disadvantages Number porting issues, annoying text ads, tag added to text messages

What is Blyk? Blyk is a new mobile network limited to 16-24 year olds. In return for receiving targeted adverts based on interests that you select in your profile you are given 217 texts and 43 minutes free each month. It's a pay as you go network meaning that you can top up with credit to spend on calls and texts but unless you need to make more calls or send more texts than the monthly allowance you don't have to pay a penny. Bare in mind that you will not be able to use the network if your phone does not have picture messaging! This is because adverts are sent in this format. How do I get ... more

Advantages Advantages Great coverage. free credit for txts, calls and internet.

Disadvantages Disadvantages If you call 1 advert text a day that can be deleted, then i guess it is a disatvantage lol

I found out about BLYK by word of mouth. I don't use my mobile that much, i send about 4 texts and maybe call a couple of people and check my e-mails everyday and it suits me perfect. At first BLYK gave you 217 txts and 42 minutes, this was ok, but it had a major flaw as i found out you couldn't ring 0800 or such numbers or access the internet. This was found out whilst broken down on the motorway and not able to call my breakdown cover! Recently they have changed it so you have £15 credit free instead, txts are 10p and mobile/national calls are roughly 12/20p , this actually works out you get ... more

Advantages Advantages Free calls and texts every month

Disadvantages Disadvantages adverts can be repetitive, and blyk adverts on text messages are annoying

I first found out about this network in november 2007, and was immediately interested because i am a student without much money. I ordered the starter pack immediately, and the process was very easy (it even allowed me to select my preferred number), and once i had completed this, the starter pack arrived very promptly and in perfect condition. The free balance each month is 43 minutes and 217 texts, which are automatically refreshed each month, and if all of this is used up you can buy further credit, however this isnt entirely without flaws because at the bottom of each text blyk advertises ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages New number needed and regular adverts sent to the phone

DO NOT purchase this item from ebay etc as 16-24 yr olds can send off for a blyk sim card FOR FREE from the blyk website. A blyk sim card provides 43 minutes and 200 approx texts a month which is all paid for by advertising. Adverts are sent to the blyk sim card, some which require a reply and some which just require an acknowledgement. For example you may be asked your opinion on a particular band or you may be sent a voucher for a free bottle of lucozade. On average adverts are sent to the simcard every other day. Once the free credits have been used the simcard can be topped up from any ... more

Don't waste your time on this I've been struggling with it for six months. It doesn't work and they fob you off with excuses, because you're under 25 it must be your fault.
