    Advantages Advantages Nice smell

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not suitable for excessive use!

When I was doing my nurse training, we had this one lecturer, who, like most teachers, had a pet hate that is unique to them. Sally’s pet hate was well known to all that she taught - bacteria. For many a lesson we listened as Sally described in great, almost eccentric detail, all about what these little "creepy crawly buggies" could do, and the many places they were capable of hiding in. We’d all have enjoyed her classes if she hadn’t been so scarey about those stupid bugs. Sally is obsessive about hand washing, and rightly so for nurses in this day and age of MRSA and other ... more

Advantages Advantages Cleans the hand and reduces bacterial build up

Disadvantages Disadvantages Dry out hands with over use

The last time I visited Boots, I was attracted to a stand with hand washes, on special offer, the usual buy one get one free. It was a good job I brought them because a week later both my hubby and myself went down with viral stomach flu that kept use in bed nearly two weeks, although this is not altogether true as the ‘throne room’ featured heavily in this period! These Hand washes are produced by Boots and come in three refreshingly fruity fragrances, Apple (green coloured wash), Lemon (yellow coloured wash) and Satsuma (orange coloured wash. Personally, my favourite flavour is ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages It is expensive even when on 'buy one get one free'(BOGOF)

Antibacterial washes of any kind are of no real value; in fact they are more of a danger! I worked in a hospital for a short period. Disinfect ion is of major importance and so is highly controlled (i'm sure you can imagine). You easy learn that not doing it properly causes an increase in danger to your patient. I’m not going to go mathsi because I know everybody hates it. Image this: 100 bacteria on the hand. 50 are nasty evil things that want to cause stomach upsets etc. The other is friendly bacteria interested only in living synergistically with the body. These evil ones are hard ... more

I am having a bit of a nightmare at the moment. My poor dog has been attacked by a bad case of fleas or mites or something and she is scabby and sore. As such I am brushing her, cleansing her and applying cream a few times a day. I am obviously washing my hands thoroughly after doing this but felt I would like a bit more reassurance in the form of an antibacterial hand gel to use as well. I went to Boots to have a look for a hand gel and initially picked up one by a brand I had not heard of but was £3.00. I couldn’t really see any others so thought this would have to do however when I got near ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, cleans well and makes hands smell fresh

    Disadvantages Disadvantages A little drying

Getting rid of nasties With a new baby in the house, I find myself washing my hands more than usual. I am not obsessed about hygiene and cleanliness, but right now it's important for me to know that I can use an anti-bacterial handwash that will help kill germs and other nasties. This handwash from Boots promises to remove all germs and odours, and leave hands fresh and soft. A 250ml pump costs only 75p, making it really competitively priced. There are also sensitive and aloe vera versions in this range. Ideal for the kitchen This handwash comes in a handy pump and is currently situated in my ... more

I've just had a new baby and as such we have had and are having a lot of visitors to come and see him. Before he was born I wanted to get some hand wash that was antibacterial because I'm a bit fussy about germs and wanted to make sure that initially in the first couple of weeks anyone who picked him up would wash their hands and make sure they were clean. I didn't want to spend a fortune as I have nicer guest soaps that I use most of the time but for the time being this antibacterial hand wash from Boots is doing just the trick. It was ridiculously cheap at £0.74 for a regular sized bottle so ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to use bottle and plunger

Disadvantages Disadvantages You have to pay for it

I began shopping in Boots when I had my two children. I found they had everything a Mum needed. As my children grew up my shopping requirements gradually changed from nappies and wipes to hand washing. Isn’t it interesting that only when we are buying with our children in mind do we start to think about how easy things are to use? Well that became my dilemma when my children became old enough to wash their own hands. I felt that a bar of soap was going to be too difficult for them to use properly and may spend more time on the floor than in the cloakroom sink. Also I couldn’t face the mess a ... more

Where ever there is a sink in our house, you will normally find a hand wash near by, I don’t know but my Mum has a thing about hand washes and ensures that we have a good supply of them, I always remember her telling us to wash our hands to make sure they are clean and germ free. We tend to use the handwash that you can get from Boots, it comes in different fragrances mainly fruity, they are made in different colours my favourite is the lemon one, I have a thing for lemon flavour and I can’t resist it. It’s so easy to use, it has a pump that you press down. You need to damp ... more
