Calamine Lotion

AdvantagesCheap and a lot of different uses

DisadvantagesNone

"...Calamine Lotion I have is Boots own brand, the lotion comes in a clear glass bottle displaying the pale pink liquid inside. The packaging is very simple, the bottle has a mainly white label around the middle of the bottle with a pink square one it, at the top of the label is the Boots logo and the words Calamine Lotion BP, this is written in black writing on the white background. Disadvantagescan be a little messy

"...lotion can be purchased from Boots and from www.boots.com. A 200ml bottle is priced at £1.05.Our ExperienceCalamine lotion has been prescribed and recommended to my family on several occasions and is a product I remember from my childhood as I have always had dodgy skin. Most recently, our local Boots prescribed this to my son alongside a hayfever oral solution when he had chicken pox. My sister informs me that the cream is much ..." Read review

Calm Me

Advantagesvery cheap

Disadvantageswatery lotion

"...for £1.09 from my local boots pharmacy. I did'nt expect that it's very cheap. I paid almost £5 for eurax and £7.99 for virasoothe which had the same effect as calamine. DIRECTION For application to the skin. (children, adults, elderly) Shake the bottle well. Apply with cotton wool to the affected area as required. If water based solution left to stand for longer period of time, mixture will separate so you need to shake the bottle before ..." Read review

Calming Calamine

AdvantagesInstant relief from itching, multi purpose, cheap, long shelf life

DisadvantagesLeaves white powdery residue on the skin

"...my dad off down to Boots in search of some Calamine Lotion. The lotion my dad came back with is Boots own variety. It comes in a clear glass 200ml bottle and cost 87p. I've never had to use Calamine Lotion before, so was unsure as to whether it was going to work or if it was merely an old wives tale. At 87p however, it was definitely worth a try - not a huge loss if it didn't and a massive gain if it did. To be honest, the label is a bit lacking ..." Read review

Calamine Lotion - Effective Sun Burnt Treatment!

Advantagescheap and works well

DisadvantagesChalky

"...which I had purchased from Boots some time at the end of last year. The 200 ml bottle cost around £1 as it was a Boots own brand and the smaller of the two sizes that were being sold. The description on the bottle says “Relieves minor skin rashes and irritations” and although I felt I had somewhat of a major skin irritation I was happy to get the cotton wool pads out and begin to dab the lotion on to my hot and sore skin. The lotion itself has ..." Read review

Lifesaver for my daughter's chicken pox!

Advantagesgood for soothing appearance and itchiness of chicken pox

Disadvantagesnone

"...mean time I popped into Boots after leaving her with gran for the afternoon after my mum and sister both recommended dabbing some calamine lotion on her spots. As it then transpired when we did eventually get to see the doctor he shrugged his shoulder and said "I'm not sure it looks like chicken pox to me I guess" I was not impressed! After telling him I was using calamine lotion on her spots he said "oh yeah thats good! keep using that!" I realised ..." Read review

Often the old fashioned way is the best way

AdvantagesCalming, soothing, releives inflammation fast

DisadvantagesMessy to apply, you look white afterwards

"...my own Calamine lotion from Boots where it costs a little over £1 for a large sized glass bottle with a screw off lid. There is no child safety lid on mine, it simply screws off. I’ve used this lotion on many occasions, both on my daughter Sarah and on myself. My husband has also used this too. It’s possibly seen as quite an old fashioned method of calming the skin down now, when there seems to be so many other up to date and more modern medications ..." Read review

Cool it.

AdvantagesHelps relieve itchy feeling

DisadvantagesMessy

"I went to my local Boots Chemist and brought a 200ml of Calamine lotion at a good price of £1.09p. I have only ever seen this lotion in glass bottles but this could be hard to get out of a squeezey bottle. I applied it to my son after a bath time before he slept one night just so it would cool the area that was warm and niggling him with some spots. The following morning we have a nice improvement, once I had washed off the lotion which made him ..." Read review

"...pharmacy. I buy mine from Boots PLC and i pay roughly £1 for 200mls. ABOUT CALAMINE LOTION. Calamine lotion can be bought as a water based cream, oil based lotion and a water based lotion. One of Calamine lotions many uses is to treat pruritis (itching of the skin). Itching can be caused by a number of conditions including eczema, psoriasis, nettle rash, jaundice or scabies. Calamine lotion for my sun burn!

AdvantagesCheap, easy to apply, works well, long lasting.

DisadvantagesMedicinal smell is not so nice.

"...of this calamine lotion from Boots is just £1.05 at present and I believe it was around this price when I purchased mine. This is a very reasonable price for 200ml as a little does go a long way with this lotion. This is a pale pink coloured lotion and is very easy to use. I apply mine using cotton wool pads or even some toilet roll if I do not have anything better to hand. The smell of this is a bit medicinal but this ..." Read review

Calamine, I remember you

AdvantagesCools and soothes itching in loads of conditions

DisadvantagesYou may not like the smell

"...your cupboard. I would certainly recommend Boots Calamine lotion. It works, is easy to use and such a great price so offers fantastic value. 200ml is a lot of Calamine lotion. It's the sort of thing every house should have since it can be used for so many things. I really am a fan of all these older, simple things. They meet your expectations and do what they are meant to, instead of promising the world and failing to deliver. Definitely recommendable. ..." Read review

Instant relief from itching!

Advantagesstop itching instantly

Disadvantageshave to wash it off

"...You can get this in boots or any supermarket for just 99p, and it is definitely worth the money. You wouldn't expect much from a product that only cost 99p, but it does work well at relieving itching. Everybody should always have a bottle of this in the house, as it is great if you ever come up in a rash or get bitten, it calms the area down instantly, it is a great product. ..." Read review

Is it weird that I like the smell of this?

Advantagescheap, does a lot of uses

Disadvantagesnone

"People think it's odd that I like the smell of Calamine Lotion but it is quite a nice smell and doesn't smell like any other Lotion out there. This is another of those Wonder products that do a lot of uses and is a handy thing to keep in the cupboard, or best in the fridge as especially if you have Sunburn then this is soothing when it is nice and cold. So what does this treat? This can treat Chicken Pox, Bites and Sunburn. I'm sure it treats ..." Read review
