BOOTS - NO LONGER JUST "THE CHEMIST"

Advantages: Advantage points; Health and Beauty products; much more
Disadvantages: Can be expensive; poor customer service.

Boots is one of my favourite retail shops. It is one of the most famous and desired cosmetic chain-stores. == BOOTS THE CHEMIST == The first thing I discovered when I came to the UK years ago was the Boots store at Heathrow airport in duty-free. I entered the shop and I was very impressed by how organised it was; I found everything - from beauty products, food and even baby clothes; all under the same roof. So I decided then, that, when I'm settled ...
...hit the shops, looking for Boots stores; I knew later that the shop is called "Boots the Chemist" and I found two of them near where I lived: one was a big store and the other was a lot smaller, with limited shelves and fewer products. === Quick information about the store. === Boots originally was founded in Nottingham by John Boot in 1849 and was transformed into national chain stores by his son. It was mainly for cosmetics in the first place; ...

THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS

Advantages: Huge range of products, fantastic and regular special offers, great loyalty scheme
Disadvantages: Sometimes over-priced, pharmacy is not as good as smaller pharmacies

Boots is one of my favourite shops, but it is also one of the most difficult shops on which to write an opinion, as it sells such a range of products, and is also a shop that just about everyone is familiar with. I’m going to give a general overview, and then explore in more detail some of my favourite things about Boots. My main experience of Boots is of its Bournemouth Town Centre branch, a good-sized branch on two floors, and its smaller Boots ...
...also visited many, many other Boots branches of all shapes and sizes – from tiny branches at train stations or in small towns to huge central London stores. If I had to pigeon-hole Boots, the best description I could come up with is that of a chemist, but it really is so much more than that. As well as being a pharmacy, it sells off the shelf medicines, health supplies, homeopathic remedies, make-up, toiletries, snack foods, diet products, sunglasses, ...

Owned by: KKR New York Equity Firm and Stefano Pessina From July 1st 2009, shamed ex-banker Andrew Hornsby will take over as CEO of Alliance Boots. I was looking for a shocking headline for the last few days for this article and plumped for this one. Mad dogs and Englishman, the whole vision spells utter disaster for the Alliance Boots retailers who have been solvent ...
...just about visualise the Alliance Boots Chairman Mr. Stefano Pessina sifting through the three CV’s vacancy for the CEO Boots position, when he came to Andrew Hornsby he gleamed over his continental breakfast. “W’ASDA he the HBOS who gotta BOOTS!!!” – He continues “Ah yes, I like zis eh joka, he maka mia laff”. Boots . . . they don't sell those in here!

Advantages: Great products for everyday beauty needs!
Disadvantages: Some unknowledgable staff!

Boots are a large store and there is no doubt at least 1 in every town. They sell a large range of cosmetics, beauty products and have a large pharmacy as well. Boots also not only have an opticians but a photo processing department as well. ***ABOUT BOOTS*** Boots started off in 1849, when John Boot opened a herbalist shop in Nottingham. Since then boots has grown into a large store with their first pharmacist being appointed in 1884. Since 1849, ...
...range was introduced in 1939. One of the best..

Advantages: Loyalty card, range of goods on sale
Disadvantages: High prices for some items

Boots is one of the most well known high street chemists. It's a familiar face in most towns, and has a pretty consistent range of goods and styles of stores. Boots has gimmicks that put them above some other chemist chains, such as their quality own brand ranges and their loyalty card, which incidentally is one of the best on the market. They also stock a wide range of goods, including sandwiches and snacks, and even cards, gift wrap and photo ...
...Another major selling point for boots is its own brand cosmetics ranges. Currently they have 4 ranges, No7, 17, Botanics and Natural Collection. No7 is a premium brand, very good make up, but prices are still reasonable for the quality. 17 is aimed at teenagers, and is cheap, but excellent quality for their prices. The Botanics range includes plant extracts. The natural collection is also aimed at teenagers with cheap effective products. Boots also ...

...the plane “Is there a Boots at this airport?” to the harassed morning of my wedding “Have we got time just to pop into Boots? Playing Footsy with my Pussy in Bootsy!

Advantages: Market leader in health & beauty, excellent pharmacy
Disadvantages: Cheaper medicines sold at Tesco and Asda

...wrote an excellent opinion on Boots and her views mirrored mine exactly. So please bear with me if my opinion sounds a little repetitive. Boots has been one of the longest running stores in the High Street. In fact the store has been present in every City High Street and shopping centre that I have ever visited. Boots is the leading store for health and beauty products in the UK. Thomas Boot founded it in the late 19th century. On entering the ...
...Dior perfume costs £50. Boots has a nice range of products called 'The Natural Collection'. The range includes exfoliating masks, foot creams, lip salves, lipstick, soap etc which are all made from natural ingredients. The Body Shop pioneered the selling of products not tested on animals and did well business wise in the 1980s. Boots stole the idea of selling natural products from Body Shop. Unfortunately the business of the Body Shop dived to such ...

Boots. For all your needs

Advantages: They sell almost everything you could possibly want from a chemist and more!
Disadvantages: I don't live in one!

Boots is a personal favourite of mine. What can I say - I am a health and beauty freak. I love everything that smells nice and have at least 15 different kinds of shampoo and conditioner. Stores range in size from the tiny ones found in train stations to the huge ones, covering 2 floors or more on main shopping streets. On a political, environmentally friendly note Boots test none of their products on animals so I feel safe and contented buying ...
...addicts!!! Not only do Boots sell their own name products but they sell a huge range of name-brands. From Loreal to John Frieda, from Rimmel to Revlon, nothing seems to be amiss in these stores. Boots also have exceptionally good offers on all the time. They have a large selection of products in a 3 for 2 offer as well as some buy one get one free offers. As a result it is hard to pay full price for anything which is definitely an advantage. All ...

These boots were made for walking....

Advantages: huge range, good loyalty scheme
Disadvantages: my store is quite 'squished'

Boots the chemist is one of the largest and most well-known health and beauty merchants in the UK. Selling everything from perfumes and pharmaceuticals to cellulite cream and cameras. My local Boots in the center of Bristol is situated on two floors, and the first thing I notice when entering either entrance is how clean and white it is, this is how chemists should be. The staff are extremely helpful, even the cashiers remind you that you can get ...
...didn’t realise that No.7 was Boots own brand either. The vitamins and herbal remedies they have are extensive and relatively cheap. The photography and camera part of the Bristol shop has been there for donkey’s years and the staff are really helpful, suggesting types of film and offering help. I have never used the optician part of Boots, and this is only because I don’t trust an optician who hasn’t got their own shop, don’t ...

For all your health and beauty needs

Advantages: Wide variety of products, good loyalty scheme
Disadvantages: Too many special offers and not enough money!

Boots The Chemists (BTC) is one of the biggest and most well known health and beauty retailers in the country. They sell a wide variety of goods ranging from the cheap and cheerful to the chic and expensive. From bath and shower gels to deodorants and shampoo, Boots sell most of the well known brands and also stock many of their own make. These are, in most cases, priced lower than the well-known names and are of good quality. Obviously what you ...

Beauty wise, they stock all of the standard high street ranges ...

...years we didn’t have a Boots store nar us, so one when opened up. It was really something and to tell you the truth has been a great help. Not least of all because we no longer have to make Bus journey, so popping into Boots is easy and convenient. Boots I think is a very good chemist, it’s range of products are very good. These Photo's have been Stamped

Advantages: Good price for quality, reward card available, staff knowledgeable, big range of products, located in most towns
Disadvantages: Photo development is a compromise between reasonable price or reasonable processing time, more pricey than competitors

Although Boots appears generally more expensive for like for like products than other shops, it's photographic development service is worth the extra look. Boots offers a selection of processing times, all with a corresponding selection of prices. Processing times include 1 hour, Overnight, 3 day service or 6 day service with the prices ranging from £6.99 for the 1 hour processing to £2.99 for the 6 day service (24 exposure). The 6 day service ...
...favour of me using Boots to develop my films. Compared to my local developers the service is fractionally lower priced yet with the drawback of a longer waiting time. On it's own it wouldn't be worth it, yet the extra quality of development does. The pictures received at Boots always seem clearer and with no white patches or small bits of material on them, something I had previously noticed at my local developers. For those choosing to develop ...

Boots

Advantages: Convenient, loyalty points system, frequent special offers
Disadvantages: Some overpriced items

Boots is a well-known chemist with stores up and down the country. If you don't have one near you, or find it inconvenient, you can buy products from the website at http://www.boots.com.
