Like many other memebers writing an opinion on 'the Cherries', have been a life long fan. Their performance on a Saturday afternoon dictates my mood for the forthcoming week, so as you can imagine, I was pleased we beat Bury 1-0 on Saturday. However, I do become increasingly worried about the way forward for Bournemouth. We are going in the right direction in building a new Stadium, the Ken Dando stadium, and are producing quality new blood. Although this is worthless if we are going to continue in selling this talent when an offer comes through. I understand fully that we need money for our ... more

Advantages Advantages Play nice football, young squad

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Lack of finance

A.F.C Bournemouth are currently the longest serving football club in Division 2, and I as a true fan am starting to wonder if they will ever leave this unbelievably mediocre league or if they will languish there until the next 'Big Bang' Their history in Division 2 goes back seemingly longer than the Queen has been head of this country! I ask why this South Coast, family orientated club can't seem to escape this division, whether up or down! The closest that A.F.C Bournemouth have come to a shock exit was in the 1994/95 season when the team were bottom of the league with only 9 points at ... more

I've seen him play regularly for a Division Two side known as the Cherries on the South coast. He came to on loan from a big Premiership team with the promise of being a future star and he has cemented this promise with demonstration after demonstration of his precocious talent. He has the pace of Michael Owen, the shooting accuracy of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the heading ability of Alan Shearer and the quick feet and dribbling of Rivaldo. Woah, this is some player but has he produced the goods, well how does 12goals in 10 games grab you and he is on the verge of breaking the national scoring ... more

My local team is AFC Bournemouth otherwise known as the Cherries. They have been in Division 2 for the last year. The year before that we were in Division 3 but won the playoff final at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff 5-2 against Lincoln City, YESSSSSSSSS!!! History - Bournemouth began life as Boscombe St. John's Institute FC in 1890 but dispended in 1899 and reformed as Boscombe FC. The club played in the Bournemouth District Junior League at Castlemaine Avenue in Pokesdown. They moved to the current site in Kings Park in 1902. In 1910, Mr J.E. Cooper-Dean granted the team on a long lease ... more

Transfer deadline passed away and we didn't sell anyone. This excellent decision can be seen in the results with the 4-0 win against the carrot crunchers and the 1-0 win against that northern lot and finally the 3-0 away win against the sheep lovers (clean version). Oh if they hadn't sold Jamie Vincent 2 years ago...Things could have been so different now !!!!!! 8 games left....I don't think the play offs will happen but look on the bright side...we need 3 more points to equal last years total and we have already scored more goals than last year. We have also scored in the last 23 consecutive ... more

This game marked and amazing fightback fo the Cherries who came back from two goals down to draw even. The first half however saw an abysmal performance from the on form Bournemouth side. In the first half the Cherries did rise to the challenge, and Colchester went ahead by 2 goals deservedly. The Colchester fans grew cockier and cockier by the minute which started to annoy the Bournemouth faithful. It did not look as though Bournemouth were in the match until they pulled one back midway into the second half. The side then began to grow in confidence and beleif as they started to dominate the ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages we are still a selling club

Bournemouth have a couple of interesting stats to our name. One fact is that Bournemouth are division 2's longest serving members, and Steve Fletcher, our striker, is Division 2's longest serving player. These stats describe bournemouth very well. They tend to be middle of the leaguers season after season. We are essentially a selling club and until this changes we can have no ambition to go up a league, instead maybe we should be looking at Division 3 and making sure we dont go there. We have alot of youth players, and these youth players are still learning, but have alot of passion for ... more
