Bradford City have finally succumb to the inevitable and relegation from the Premiership has been confirmed. Though relegation is nothing to be boast about, Bradford should take comfort from the knowledge that they defied the odds and survived for two seasons in the highest division.
During Bradford's first season in the Premiership, 1999/2000, they panicked bought a variety of players who simply were too old for the riggers of top flight football. ... ...longer taking a win over Bradford as guaranteed. Very soon Bradford was anchored to the bottom and the new manager Chris Hutchings was replaced by Jim Jefferies.

Advantages: Good honest team Disadvantages: To many over the hill and enigmatic players
Bradford City for me looked doomed this season.
Well want can be said about Bradford, apart from their fans have had an excellent and very unexpected journey in the Premiership, although it is possibly about to end.
Bradfords squad seems to entirely consist of "over the hill" or "good but undisiplined players", but the one thing about then is their great battling qualities.
Jim Jefferies is the manager, he arrived via Hearts in mid season, and ... ...but I think he has a HUGE job on his hands, and on the manager front Why oh Why did they let Paul Jewell leave, he done an excellent job, and I think they should have done more to keep him there.
Well on to the players, they have several, well lets say "Very Enigmatic players", especially in Benitto Carbone (a excellent little player, but seems to be a lot of trouble) and Stan Collymore to whom the exact same description applies (excellent but trouble), ...

...of Beni Carbone. Quite why Bradford have signed him is beyond me. They were always going to struggle this season and they've made a few good signings that may have just saved them. Carbone is a very talented player who on his day can be a matchwinner, as he proved against Leeds last season with that stunning hat-trick. This is why Bradford wanted him, to become a crowd favourite. The problem is he doesn't have his day too often and he cries like ... ...even 30 must say something. Bradford will have enough problems this season without Carbone adding to them. As soon as they look like being relegated, Beni will jump ship. He will get the crowds in and Bradford will get their money back but dont bank on seeing him there at the end of the season. ...

Advantages: Everyone loves an underdog Disadvantages: Just not good enough
Bradford shocked many last season by staying up at Wimbledons expense but this season will be different. They will be very lucky if they spend any time off the bottom of the Premiership. The reason they survived last season was due to the managerial know how of Paul Jewell, who knew it was only a one off and jumped ship to Wednesday. Chris Hutchins is untried and wont be able to keep them up. They have made a few signings but they are all just other ... ...dont buy them off the team who finished bottom last year(Ian Nolan and Peter Atherton!!!). Hopkin and Petrscu are good buys for the club, but they still have too many mediocre players. The teams that were promoted last year are all stronger than Bradford. Maybe like Charlton, being relegated will make them stronger and give them a chance next time round to establish themselves in the top division and join other mediocre sides like Derby, Coventry, ...

Were we all glad that Bradford City stayed up last season?
I was because it just proved that the litlle 'uns can compete at this level with the Megastars. Bradford's story gives hope to all those clubs in the lower divisions, just like Watford, Charlton and Barnsley did before - except Bradford stayed up.
It is amazing though if you run through their team. Plenty of old stagers in the line up. I think I remember hearing that in that final game ... ...One - not staying in the Premiership.
New Manager Chris Hutchings may have new ideas - may bring in new players - but I just feel that Bradford have had their 'day in the sun' and come May next year they will once more be looking at Division One soccer ...

...who don't already know. Bradford City has managed an agreement between it's creditiors so that Bradford City Football CLub still exsists.
With debts over £30 million yesterday 85% of creditors agreed a repayment plan. The club needed at least 75% of creditors for the agreement to be sucsessful. However now that we have managed to sort out this problem, we now have to look how we managed to get into so much debt. Our current chairman, Mr Richmond ... ...premiership. When we got relegated, we didn't have premiership money coming in. We had players on big wages, a ground been redeveloped, the fans not coming through the gates, ITV Digital conning football clubs up and down the country. Obviously things have been spent behind the sences but the fans of this club need to know where the money has gone.

Have you noticed that Bradford City are rock bottom of the Premiership. It seems an age ago that anyone else held that honour (vague memories of Middlesbrough this season...). But what chance an immediate return to the top flight. Well every chance I say.
Every one gave up on Bradford after that defeat by Southampton on 10th February, but since then, and after off-loading all their most valuable assets, City have started to perform.
First there ... ...with Manchester City and Newcastle. Bradford were starting to find the groove.
Now, after a close 2v1 reverse at White Hart Lane (where Spurs have only lost two games to date) City have come up with two straight 2v0 wins over Charlton and Derby.
Granted, with the exception of Ipswich (who with respect aren't really one of the big boys but ARE having a terrific season) none of these sides are pushing for Europe. But then, none of the first division ...

...great over head goal for Bradford before getting in trouble and being shipped of to a second rate spanish side. Without these two scoring, Bradford were not likely to have a hope of staying up. Watching them play an ever improving Ipswich side today on Sky underlined their destiny with the drop. Gary Walsh in Goal is never a likely Premiership survival prospect. He flaps worse than David James. His defence perform poorly and are forever being burned ...

For a Bradford City fan the past 2 seasons (not inc. this one) have been the best ever, better than any season for Man Utd, we gain Automatic Promotion in Division 1 after 3 seasons of relegation battle. This is where the story starts with the loss of an all ... ...has been a great for Bradford ever since he played up front at the side of Chris Kamara and Mark Stallard e.t.c, the all time greats, we all wondered can he help us out of the drop zone, well his first season didn't start too well, we dropped straight to the bottom not wining at all, but after christmas, in the new year something changed and the team clicked and slowly but surely we moved up and up to the excitement of every city fan in evry corner ...

...the scene, it's June 2000. Bradford City have just escaped relegation, thus causing Rodney Marsh to shave his head. Geoffrey Richmond, the Bantam's chairman has grand plans. Valley Parade is increasing its capacity to 25,000 in a city with half a million people.
"The first season in the Premiership is always the most difficult. We've gained the experience we needed and with that extra Premiership money, we can make more of a impression. We are going ... ...for themselves last season. Certainly, Bradford did not look any worse than say Coventry City.
Chris Hutchings was promptly promoted to manager and the glamour names came in: Benito Carbone, Dan Petrescu and er... David Hopkin. Carbone was mobbed like a hero on his first day in Bradford.
Never mind the fact that he had not exactly set the Premiership on fire with Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa or that Petrescu did not really want to leave ...

...seven games all season saw Bradford safe by two points. This season however will be somewhat different and i can see what is going to happen. Everything will start of well for the bantams, Carbone will stnn crowds with his skill, Petrescu will hold the back fout togheher and people will start to believe that Bradford will become a stabl premiership club. ...to say that I support Bradford City Football Club. Not only because, as a Bradfordian, it is my moral obligation to support my home team, but also I feel that the team deserves success and does not deserve other Bradfordians snubbing them and refusing to support them because they are "crap". These people are not true Bradfordians and any Bradfordian who supports Leeds Utd wants shooting.
Bradford City AFC was the first Association Football Club ... ...two rugby League clubs in Bradford - Bradford RLFC and Bradford Northern. Bradford RLFC became a football club in 1903 and was named "Manningham AFC" and later "Bradford City AFC" and after that Bradford Northern became "Bradford AFC" and later "Bradford Park Avenue AFC". Another team was then called Bradford Northern and played Rugby League.
In the 1983 recession, Bradford City went bankrupt but was rescued by a company called Meshweb and so Bradford ...

Bradford City the basement boys of the Premier League are facing the trap door to their rightful home of division one of the English leagues.
To call them a premierleague side is a joke.
As I write this on Feb 11th 2000 they haven't scored a league goal since new years day.
Hardly impressive is it ?
They only stayed up last year because Wimbledon failed to win any of their last fourteen games. Can you believe that ? I certainly can't.
Anyone ... ...hidden depths of Division two.
Bradford for a city that size have always had a footie team that has in my view failed to live up to expectations.
You could argue they did well to win promotion to the Premier League or you could say it was about time. It depends on your viewpoint.
Richmond the chairman is like a hidden manager in disguise and I know this from fans of the club who are friends.
He wants to pick the team etc and never gave Hutchings ...

bradford are a lot like my own team leicester. they struggle on a relatively small budget yet consistently give any side a match. what annoys me (and probably all the bradford fans) is thast sides like leicester and bradford don't get the praise they deserve. for example - leicester - undefeatedjoint top of the league and we got a mention on football focus on saturday. 2 years ago villa were in our position and they were all you ever saw on tv. in ...

...the injury. When Bradford came up there were no big names in the squad. No you have several big names, one in the form of your captain, as well as the likes of Benito Carbone and Ashley Ward, who is a extremely talented player.
I would like to add I have a completely unbiased opinion as I am a Swindon supporter. I am just waiting to see Bradford win against Man Utd at Old Trafford, that would really make my day! ...
