    Advantages Advantages It shaves close. Its comfortable. It cleans itself. It looks the business.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None i can think of, apart from the extra cost of more cleaning cartridges.

    I saw this shaver on special offer in my local Comet for only £133 (Argos were selling it at £250 so the saving was over £100!) so I decided to take the plunge and buy one after waiting so long. Unpacking the shaver is an adventure in itself, as the box is reminiscent of the Apple iPod boxes, as it opens up like a book, with the shaver, cleaning station, instructions etc neatly displayed like an art. Even removing the plastic cover is rather cryptic as you have to use a needle to press 4 black studs holding it in place! Took me ages to work this out!     Disadvantages Disadvantages The only one - the plug is a shaver plug, and not a 3-pin mains plug

    To provide some context on where this review is coming from, in my 15 years of shaving, I've always see-sawed back and forth between wet shaving and electric razors, though I've almost always favoured wet shaving - you can't beat the closeness of the shave, and my skin naturally seems to prefer it. My previous electric razor was a disaster (Philips Coolskin rotary shaver), and my skin just didn't get on with it, so despite spending upwards of £70 on it, I only used it a few months before returning to wet shaving, which put me off electric for quite a while.     I was looking for a good shaver that does the job right, with a smooth and fast shave. After searching around for some time I found this excellent design product from Braun. This is without doubt the best Braun shaver to date. The combination of the new head, foil and cutter assembly has made this shaver the one to beat. I have used the Panasonic ES 8163 and in many ways this gives a very similar shave, but with the very real advantage of the Braun cleaning system - I'm lazy when it comes to cleaning shavers - it's a chore, but for around £3.50 per month in cartridges you get a consistently ... more
