My reasons for purchase Since obtaining a Wilkinson Sword Intuition razor when they were initially introduced a good few years ago, I have spent a small fortune on replacement blades, particularly with their current price being in excess of £6 for a pack of three. Whilst I initially found the blades to be kind to my skin type, which I would describe as normal, over the past twelve months or so, they have been causing me considerable irritation, particularly under my arms and on my knees, which would become sore and red. I had been considering making a purchase of an epilator for several years ... more

The most expensive freebie I have recieved to date would be my Braun epilator that the Savvy Circle sent to me last year and I'm guessing I qualified as I had anwsered truthfully that I had no experiance in these scary little things and would be unsure if I would... I suppose they saw me as the perfect candidate to sway me to the dark side! I have owned this for more than 6 months now and believe I can give a more accurate review now based on its reliability, durability and uses as opposed to when I first got this. I generally have a strong threshold for pain - give me a tattoo or body ... more

    5 Stars Braun Epilator 31/05/2008
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Lots of accessories, good instructions, excellent range of features

Disadvantages Disadvantages none specific to the product itself, several to the process of epilating

I bought this product to replace an older version from a different manufacturer that I have had for about five years. I moved from North America to the UK and my old epilator wasn't dual voltage, so buying a new one was easier than the variety of adaptors and step down devices I would have had to find to keep using the old one. Because I've been epilating so long, its hard for me to comment on the pain level of the Braun vs any other epilator as I really don't get much pain from the process anymore. At first it does hurt when you use it, but in my experience your skin gets accustomed, your ... more

Advantages Advantages A close shave every time

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can't use when being charged.

After years of shaving my legs and underarms, I decided it was about time a 'bit the bullet' and bought an epilator as I have heard so much about them. The main advantage of an epilator is that it leaves your legs really smooth for up to 3 weeks and avoids the stubble that shaving can leave after a few days. As I could give anyone a run for their money for hairy legs, I was somewhat dubious as I have heard that epilators can be very painful and they rip the hairs out with sets of tweezers which wizz around at an alarming rate! Pain is not the word for what I felt when I first started but I was ... more

    Advantages Advantages Good for legs

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not for under arms in my opinion

I have a bit of a love hate relationship with this epilator ( I guess the same would apply to any epilator to be honest not just this one) however it is the one I have used off and on for the last couple of years however it is a bit of a trade ff between the discomfert of using it and the rather good results that you get so I do tend to use razors a fair bit of the time with this as an occasional option. I cannot remember how much I paid for it as it was over two years ago but it was somewhere around the £70 mark I reckon. It comes with a range of heads, charger, cleaning brush and some wipes ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages expensive and only comes with a 2 pin plug

Ok so I have been epilating my underarms for around a year or so now as I can't shave them as it brings me out in nasty spots! I originally used the model that was about 2 or 3 before this one and it was perfectly okay I just fancied a new sparkly one. I had heard many good things about this with people saying you can barely feel anything etc! So I saved up my amazon vouchers and went ahead and bought it for £60! So the epilator! Well to look at it is nice and curvy with a little sparkle on it which us ladies always like! The dial on the front means you can take it slowly or a bit faster ... more

Advantages Advantages Reasonably painless, smooth legs!

Well this is the second epilator I've used, bought to replace my 5780 face and body epilator also by braun. Ok a few important points: Pain: With the beginner cap on this is less painful even on new areas than my older epilator, the head moving also means i can keep the skin taught easier as it angles itself much better. With the pro-efficiency cap I do find it slightly more smarting than my older one - however, it does a much better job of getting rid of all the hairs in 1 sweep! Which for me makes the slight pain very very worthwhile. Usage: The center dial is easier to use than a simple ... more

Advantages Advantages Really not painful at all, quick & easy.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Comes with a two pin razor plug so you will need a razor socket or adaptor.

My husband bought this for me as he was fed up with me pinching his razor blades! I'd tried epilating about 20 years ago but found it too painful. I liked waxing but didn't like the "in between" stage where my legs looked hairy but weren't, apparently, hairy enough for the waxing to work. He brought it home... I opened the box... and was disappointed. There is nothing on the packaging to indicate that you need a two pin shaver socket to plug it into. We don't have one of those so off to B&Q toddled my husband and returned with an adaptor so be prepared to spend out an extra couple of quid on ... more

Advantages Advantages Great features, including a shaver. Excellent light that highlights fine hairs. Saves a fortune on

Disadvantages Disadvantages Too painful to use anywhere else but on legs

Have been using this epilator for over a month now and I'm delighted by how well it removes my unwanted leg hair! Its been a lot less painful than waxing and I've worked out that it will have paid for itself in under a year. It gives great results on legs and I don't have to wait nearly as long between goes as I would between waxings. I really love the light on the head that shows even the fairest, finest hairs that I would have otherwise missed. I've tried it on my bikini line and underarms but I'm obviously far too much of a wimp and I found it far too painful to continue using! But I'm ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Time consuming!

I purchased this epliator a few weeks ago after being advised to go with a Braun product. It came beautifully packaged and looked only half as scarey as expected. The first time i used it i was nervous as i had been told by friends that it would most likely hurt more than most could cope with. I was pleasantly surprised and the epilator only hurt in sensitive places like your ankles and behind your knees. Most of my leg hair was removed on the first use but there is always going to be a few hairs that are just to short to get rid of. My legs generally feel aofter and less prickly as the hairs ... more
